Let's see....

I find that with a very short avie (144cm/4'8";) who is somewhat plump for her size (estimated weight 125lb) I find that the default animations work fantasticly. I would list only a few gadgets:

1) Swimmer 2.0/2.5 (I swim A LOT)

2) An assortment of bathingsuits (I make a lot of one piece suits, both conventional and alternative silhouette).

3) A dry suit (at least one). Not all water is warm and your avie will want to swim in cold water in snow country.

4) A wearable set of skis (no script or rez required). A lot of snow country is no script/no rez.

5) Niseko Hirafu skis (These have a fantastic animation that comes with them, but they need to be rezzed.)

6) A flight feather made to a smaller more comfortable device. I made mine into a flight collar with a cute zebra print.

I keep my property no-rez/no-scripts. That prevents vandalism. I seldom see any one near my land. It's in Gaeta which is still the frontier. Paulson, the new ear-shaped continent (The name is up for grabs, but I'm calling it Paulson because I visited it the day of the first stock market crash.) is also frontier.

I bought a box of free dance animations at Rendez-Vous for 3L. This includes a capoera animation which is fun. I love to watch my avie doing capoera gymnastics.

The first house I rented in SL, I had a woman come in late one night (RL & SL), even with my doors locked. I was upstairs trying on clothes and AV detector saw her coming ever closer. I went down and asked why she was in my house - no answer. She continued just walking around. I asked again...still no answer. She finally left. This was a fairly new sim and soon after that the owner installed security systems in all the rentals where you could click a button on the wall to eject a person.

Hmm. So there IS a way for renters to have home security. Would you mind IM'ing me here (or in SL if you prefer) to tell me about this device?

*Every...single...freaking...time I am home...* someone pops in and just walks around. Just like you've described here. Ashamed? No - leisurely would better describe them. As of yet I've had only one 'sorry'. I don't get it. And yes it's very creepy.

I have my Zhao II AO, and a Mystitool, which I forget to attach half the time. That's it for gadgets.

hippotech has a renters security system that integrates with the hipporent system.

I like having a different walk than the regular 'pigeon hop'. So I like the supermodel walk.

What is a Mysti Tool? I'm imagining all sorts of things. Lol.

I never got the hang of a flight feather. I prefer a magic carpet.

Found a nice reasonably priced dance hud and need a portable swimming attachment too.

I can't seem to get AO to work overall so I don't bother with it. I just wear my walk.

My top ten Must-Have list:

1) Fight Feather by Argent Stonecutter, it's simple and doesn't get in my way.

2) HJAO, great override that again doesn't bug me and stays out of my way.

3) TinyCam II by Argent Stonecutter. Whether you're a tiny, an animal, a child, or whatever. It can easily be turned on and off, has two different settings and stays out of my way (notice a trend here LOL)

4) Bits, nuff said, but for the love of all that is anatomically correct please don't go overboard with the size. Really, they ain't that big. Same goes for us ladies, they are not flotation devices.

5) Pose Stand. You can use a simple freebie, I have one I use for low-prim situations, but I use the PVN one for the sheer capability of it, especially when adjusting attachments.

6) Roaming Dalek by MechMind. Seriously, they liven up any party, at least until you get banned from the land LOL.

7) A good tail. Whether you are a furry, neko, ino, animal, or just want to show off your wild side, finding a nice tail will do wonders for you.

8) Ground sit HUD, because you're not always on the real ground. TOTK's makes cute ones for kids and adults.

9) sLwim, because when you live on ocean-front property you really need this on at all times.

10) PrimSitter by Boss Spectre, really makes setting up animations so much easier.

It is truly the "Swiss Army Knife" of SL and if I could only have ONE gadget, hands down this would be it!!

It is a HUD (very discreet) that replaces a lot of things mentioned in the gadget lists. Off the top of my head some of its features:

*AV Detector with ability to set it for various distances (This is the reason I first purchased it)

*Landmark Saver - Load all the landmarks you want in here, then touch the menu and choose your lm (There is also a separate Favorites list. It works similarly but is basically for setting various lm's on one sim. I don't use it as often.)

*Landmark History

*Sky platform rezzer - This feature is AWESOME! You can rez a sky platform to various heights, then decide to add walls (to make it a skybox) or just a railing. Can have various textures for the floor. I use this for my building or to rez new items I don't have room for in the house.

*SLURL - Stand where you want a SLurl located and the Mysti makes them for you in 3 formats

*Movelock - one of my favorites in crowded places - keeps one from being moved when bumped or pushed

*Non-Physical Vehicle - I LOVE this! If you have any indication a griefer may be around, rez this - it looks like a glowing blue light. You "sit" on it and are then in like a protective, invisible, bubble. I used that when some dude decided to show me his "prim package." He kept trying to push me or get closer to me...either way, he kept bouncing off my invisible bubble. He finally went away...probably a bit perplexed.

*Timer (I used this when I taught at a school where I had to reset the class recorder every half hour. Others use it to remind themselves to get up out of the chair and take a break from SL...lol.)

*Sim Scanner (scans everyone in your sim) and *Remote Sim Scanner - Can be placed say in your shop, then you can get a scan of who is in the shop remotely. Mystical Cookie, the creator of the Mysti-tool, said that when she shows up in her shop and people are there, they tend to disappear, so she uses the remote scanner to know when the shop in empty for her to go work there.

*Includes a flight boost so the feathers or flight packs are not needed

*Has an anti-away feature which was helpful in my early SL camping days - I never timed out on the camping chairs

*Offensive "weapons" - Toss, orbit, cage (don't use those, but it does replace other systems for those who do)

*Then there's a whole slew of "fun stuff" - various gestures, a repeater that makes any object "talk" or repeat what you say (I see other people use that, but haven't used it myself), a thing that lets you stand on someone else's head, etc.

There is so much more but these are the ones I use and/or can think of without being in world. There is a dollarbie version offered in the shop to try it out. It does not have all the features of the full version, but gives you an idea. There are also class notes from Mystical Cookie that are free and VERY helpful to understand all the uses.

ETA after reading more posts: The Non-Physical Vehicle in the Mysti allows one to walk through walls.

ETA again (after a good night's sleep): *Face palms* How could I have forgotten the pose stand. And not just one pose stand. Mysti does have the "regular" one, but also, a larger one with buttons that will put your avatar in various positions (arms at an angle, legs apart or together, etc.) That has been invaluable for certain types of prim items that I just couldn't adjust as well on a regular pose stand.

And...once finished, just delete the pose stand and rez another as needed. Good for the SL planet ;) Just say "NO" to all the posestands in the SL landfill. (Hmmm, maybe I need more caffeine.)

My Top 10 Gadgets:

1) AO
2) Mysti Tool
3) Huddles
4) Security Orb
5) Texture Organiser
6) Pose Stand
7) Hugger
8) Swimmer
9) Collar
10) A freebie object I have which you sit on, it throws you up to a point in the sky and brings you down again almost instantaneously. This forces a re-rez of your surroundings if you haven't rezzed everything/one around you properly.

What the hell is a Be-Bar?

Thanks for the details! I am looking for a Mysti Tool right now.

If I can leave it in my rental and it can tell me who's in there...could prove handy for catching trespassers. Can it tell you later, who was in there while you were not logged on? Just curious.

Lots of good stuff in this thread. I wouldn't have found out any other way or for a while, probably.

That freebie thing sounds interesting, Min. Where did you get that please? :)

I have no clue what a Be-Bar is either, but the only time I've seen it is as an add on to a very well known *bits* designer.

I don't thinks the Mysti can tell you who was in your home while you were out...you can do that remotely while away from the home, but you have to remember to do that. A simple visitor tracker would do the trick though. I have a free script I use that is simple and works well. Will drop one one you tomorrow in world. (You can put the script in any prim. I make a tiny little box and just put it in an out of the way place...like maybe in the corner of your ceiling near the door.

The ones I use keep attached and use often:

Flight Feather.
Chim, mainly with Sine-Wave dances.
ZHAO populated with anims from several different stores.
Collar... my own design but Amethyst scripts. It mostly sees use as a hugger.

Occasional use:

A cheap but effective Dasher to move around big areas and smash through inconvenient walls.
Skoopf skates, probably the most fun per L$ I've ever had.
My own design ban-line scanner & compass I use if I go sailing.
A one prim sculptie bean-bag to sit on if I go to a sandbox to build.
Worktable - another self-built tool, a single prim tabletop with gridlines on it that rezzes prims from it's own inventory at a touch.
The humble pose-stand.

Gathering dust:

A full set of scripted erogenous zones. A partner insisted on buying them, but if I want to cyber I prefer someone to use their imagination, not mouse-grope me.
Avatar scanner. I can see the use, but generally I don't need it. As the sensor event is, AFAIK, fairly system intensive, I (and the rest of SL) can do without another source of lag. If I'm acting as greeter I'll put it on so I don't miss new arrivals.

I've never used Mysti-tool, although I know it has its fans and it could probably replace some of my regular attachments. Laziness I guess :)

I only have three, and those suit me just fine:

- ZHAO with poses from various vendors

- Flight feather

- Radar HUD (I use the free Crystal Gadgets one, which tells you when people come into long range, close range, and chat range)

I don't own a Huddles, since I never go dancing on my own. When I do go dancing, it's always with Daros, so I dance on his Huddles.

I do own the full Mystitool, but I never really bothered getting to grips with it. It's probably been updated several times since I bought it :D

I use whatever i need.
But some items i use are:

*my own radar
*couple animator
*Lotus genetalia
*Cloths (yes, not like running around naked outside my own land)
*Omicron
*psitec (note: mostly not for attacking purposes, it has lots of other things that are harmless)
*protec (only when needed in situations where a shield might come in handy)

I barely use AO's because they give problems with many poseballs or the couples hud.

A trick I learned from an escort: remove the entry about the sit pose from the notecard in your AO, this solves the poseball problem.
My own AO also has some buttons in my HUD, including a most convenient OFF/ON button (the only button I ever use from it to be honest), which I use before hugging/kissing.

The copy of ZHAO I use has an option on the HUD for sit on/off. It's not exactly a recent version either.

7) A Be-Bar or something similar. I was not quite sure about this one, since using a be-bar that is overloaded can be as much of a pain as digging through inventory.

I think that the OP owes it to everyone who has read his post and this thread to explain what a "Be-Bar" is. Is it re-bar for the UV mesh? <grin>

I've had and disposed of every item in the list, except a ZHAO-2. And a posing stand, but only when I'm building prim attachments from scratch.

3 thumbs up for ZHAO-II, and I added a notecard with only one anim, the turn_180 stand, for a quick posing stand in places where there isn't one and I can't build.

Use Mysti once in a while, but do NOT consider it indispensible. Quite the opposite: busy places would be better if nobody was using it! Great tool, but WAY overused.

Don't know what a be-bar is. I guess I've been wasting my time here the last 2 years, not having an indispensible gadget!

+1 for flight feather and hugger. Qie, are you passing out that HUD?

I also have an online HUD I use to see who's ingame, and put on the list my closest friends and also people who aren't friends but whom I need to touch base with. Home-grown, simple, just does one thing. I always have it on, but I wouldn't call it indispensable. (It doesn't poll very often, to help avoid server bombardment. If I were to pass it out, I think I'd limit the polling interval to no faster than say 5 minutes. If you really need to know the second someone logs in, use friends list and pay attention.)

ANd of course, a pose stand is an absolute must-have. Much more so than the other items listed.

Necessities:
1 - AO
2 - Mystitool (replaces the need for flight feather, pose stand, radar, anim stopper)
3 - Dance Huddle loaded with Sine Wave and Henmation dances
4 - Amethyst scripted slave collar (includes hug & kiss animations)

Fun to have:
5 - sLwim attachment
6- A freebie 1 prim pirogue (canoe) that I picked up in a shop in New Toulouse

Helpful to have:
7 - Multi-station radio
8 - TV/slideshow screen
9 - Sit Target Helper for setting poses in furniture without the need for poseballs
10 - Universal translator, but I always wonder if others find this annoying when used in the general public, so I rarely use it unless its really necessary for a one on one conversation.
