I'm with Marybeth and Faithless.

I like lingerie, and I always wear a bra and panties if they'll go with my outfit. Some exceptions: When I'm wearing pants in the underwear layer so as to go under boots. Or when the top is so skimpy that bra straps would show and I don't have a strapless bra that coordinates with it. Or when I want to wear a tattoo on the underwear layer instead of a bra.

Besides...you never know. You might wind up playing strip poker or Truth or Dare, and need a little extra advantage...

That's one reason I wish that we had many more layers, with multiple "underwear" or "pants" etc. In RL this time of year I like to wear layers. For example, I may be wearing a bra, a top with a high neck line, a sweater with low neckline or v-neck (usually a contrasting color), and then a coat when needed. But in SL I only have the three layers above my waist.

The last time I played strip poker I was a kid. I wore more layers of clothing than anybody, so I never did get down to the skin layer. :)

I always thought it funny that it was considered taboo to run around in your undies.
Depends who was running after you.

For bras, almost never. Panties, I do if I'm wearing the type of skirt which requires one, i.e.; no glitch pants. I remember being at the Forum Hangout once and wearing a very short skirt and forgot to put something on under it. Sat down and OMG, I was giving quite the show to whomever happened to look :o That taught me a lesson.

I do enjoy wearing nice lingerie under my clothing, if the layering permits and if I know I'm going to be undressing for someone. Or, if I'm purposely taking photographs.

Meh. Ok and sometimes I just wear it for the heck of it because my sweetie thinks I look cute like that, and it amuses him.

So ummm, yea I guess I wear them more than I think ;)

LOL!! I remember this night.

Edit: And yes, one night, I had a similar wardrobe malfunction at the hangout. The outfit I was wearing had a pants layer...but I discovered that the pants layer was simply an extension of the blouse...and were not pants...at all....

I'll try and remember to look up who made that one. I'm pretty sure it was one of the "retro" designers.

No, my meaning was I don't understand the obsession with breasts? They are just breasts for crying out loud.

I don't understand the obsession either. But I have it, and I enjoy having it.

Hell, these days, most bra and pantie sets cover more than the bikini does - which is why I always thought it funny that it was considered taboo to run around in your undies.

Very true. Last summer I was at a person's home for a pool party. I open the door to what I thought was an empty room and there was a young woman friend standing with only her bra and panties on. She screamed and I apoligized and closed the door. I secretly enjoyed my mistake. A little later she joined us at the pool wearing an itsy bitsy bikini that covered half the skin that her undies did, and showed more outline of what was underneath. Somehow I still prefer the quick view of her in her undies. It was more exciting.

Its like when I was a kid. If I could see up a girls skirt I got excited. But if I found out that she was wearing a bathing suit under it, the excitment left.

It brings to mind the day I sat on a beach for a while in Cannes ten yards from a gorgeous French siren sunbathing wearing nothing but a tanga and a smile - her not me, that is. When she left she put on a dress, and as she walked off the beach a gust of wind blew the skirt up a la Monroe; she blushed as she fought furiously to push her clothes back down . . .

As a woman, my feelings are the converse of Thalics. Probably other women are that way too (such as the one Pep saw).

If I have on a short skirt and panties I still worry about the ability to see up them. And it would really bother me if someone could see. However, sitting on the beach with a dress pulled over my bathing suit I couldn't care if someone could see up there. Even though my bathing suit (I normally wear a bikini) covers less than my panties, and the crouch of my panties is opaque.

In Germany I was in a sauna with men I know, all of us totally without any clothes. After leaving the sauna I took a shower, still with men. But when I put my clothes on I went into a changing room with a curtain (as did all the others - different rooms).

It is not logical at all, I know.

Visit nudist resorts - quite often the evening activities involve dressing in sexy lingerie and strutting your stuff.

For some reason, the men usually either dress up nicely in slacks and dress shirt, or just put on a funny g-string of some sort.

Maybe but for many women, they appear to also be very receptive to the right attention, and heck they just look dam good.
What's the obsessiob wih hair and clothing anyway, it's just hair & clothing :)

Unless my top is such that it shows the bra (in a sexy way) then I wear one. Otherwise I go sans-bra as it isn't required to keep my boobs perkily pixeled. *grin*

If I'm on-stage (which I rarely am these days) then I have multi-layer outfits, including bras. The more natural layers you can wear, the more tips you'll get before you find yourself dancing nekkid.

for Phil would it not be "the bro"?

Reminded me of a old joke:

Q: How can you tell your getting old?
A: when your husbands breasts are larger then yours.

I pretty much always wear bras and panties in SL. I have several of them and I'm very particular about my choices.

Even though no one else sees them I still like the idea of it, and occasionally they do peek out from under something which is super cute with the right things. :) Panties of course are a necessity with some skirts like the awesome punky mini-skirt from Blow-up.

Agrees that pretty knickers are way nicer than the majority of those nanna-undies glitch pants (contraceptive underwear).

My mum taught me to always have a few nice pairs of freshly-laundered knickers and bras on standby, and it's just the same for sl, I found, as you just never ever know when they might come in handy.

What would make things easier would be another layer for (under)clothes. The undershirt layer is maxed out, I think. Some necklaces, nearly all bras, some initimate bits, and even undershirts (!) are all on the undershirt layer. So, you put on a necklace and your top comes off. Cute.

Just this morning I was looking for a bra on the shirt layer -- and did find some, although they weren't quite what I had in mind.

The thing is, if you're undressing, unless you're quite organized, it can be tricky trying to slip something underneath... it's easy to type WORN to see what needs to come off, but even a fast typist like myself can't always remember the name of the particular lingere set that needs to be slipped under.

It would be nice to be able to assemble the whole business ahead of time, and reduce the fumbling with inventory windows.

As far as answering the question: if an outfit comes with or requires underwear, I wear it, but otherwise no. I always wear *something* with a short skirt, but it's usually glitch pants.

That said, I wonder about what your designer friend said... "bra sales" -- I don't go into that many lingere stores, but are bras ever sold separately? All the ones I have came in a set.

Just recently I spent a fair amount of money on lingere, and I consider it money well spent.
