My next venture will be a full sim. I have great advisors and a great manager working for me so I'll be back when I am ready. I am also hampered by the restrictions of Mainland in that it isn't Havoc 4 so I can't go above 750m.

Rio, I will look you up inworld to show me some of your skyboxes. Having Claire for a neighbor would be great. She could invite me over for tea, when Graph is busy.

Thanks everyone.

I am on mainland and just put my store up to 900 meters last night

so yes mainland is havok 4 and you can go over the 700 meter mark, just like on private sims

Edited to add I should prolly read the rest of the posts before replying LOL
will still leave the reply though, I learned my lesson deleting or changing my post when trying to correct it :D

Good luck in your next venture CX!

And do take the tips about marketing into consideration, they seem to be well-ment :-)

Take care!

CX,

So sorry to hear that you're closing your build. It is really a wonderful venue.

I hope your next venture goes well, as I'm sure it will. :)

FYI, on the parties. I have a great sky platform for parties, and was planning a middle of June Land warming party... Even though I've been there since end of March. (What can I say, I'm slow about these things.) So, one way or another, the parties wil continue. Maybe I'll schedule my party for Sunday June 22, and the tradition can continue without you shouldering all the expense..

And hate to say this but this thread is interesting. I am wanting to learn about buying sims and what all goes into it. I want to make a plan so to speak, and you can ask Z i have to think things through hehehe, but I do have a plan forming in the back of my head. Mine will be more for fun and more then likely not a whole sim either.

Whatever you do, do the math first.

This thread is instructive as to costs and pricing. The figures do not include the cost for advertising. Start from breakeven and then figure out what you want to do from there in terms of profit and competitiveness.

CX.. it is always sad to hear of a quality build/venture closing. Moreso when it is happening to a nice person. I haven't seen the build, but have heard from others how spectacular it was.

Enjoy your break.. let us know when the next adventure begins. :)

Good luck!

How about a troll farm? :p
Weren't we talking about an ex-virgin farm in that other thread? We would need a location for that.

Thank you yes I do plan on the worse case scenario so to speak. And like I said I am looking at it from all angles. I wont proceed for quite a while mind you.

Thanks for the link.

Hah, *that* embarrassing thread!

CX, sorry to hear about your situation.

Actually, this may sound nuts, but, skip all the math in the beginning.

If you have a group for your upcoming plans, add interested parties - and make sure they have a chance to get to know each other. Use group chat. No, really. Use it.

Make a prim somewhere. Put a map texture of your plans on it, and some little markers. Put prim allotments and names on the markers, and do just enough math to make sure plans are gonna get paid for.

Start building the stuff in a sandbox - do NOT wait to get the region to build it. One method is free, the other, ten bucks a day. There *will* be delays. A 90 day delay will cost either 0 or 900 dollars depending what method you use.

Don't order land until you got enough people to pay for it. That way, it's profitable from before day one.

Don't feel bad about making a profit, even if you are planning on being 'nice' and just breaking even. Things may slide a bit, and you can put the money back in when the project is in need.

Good luck, if I can help in any way just look me up inworld.

Desmond, even though we never really met I value your opinion most of all. I take all advice offered to heart and file it away for future use.

Thanks very much everyone for your help and support.
