Early in life I learned to take what others say with a grain of salt.
There are no grains of salt - they are crystals. Just sayin' :)

In my 13+ years of using the internet I have never posted a thread where I state I am leaving, because I knew I would be back eventually

tonight/today I make an exception

tonight/today I post my goodbye

This is not easy to do.

I am not leaving second life, but I am leaving the forums... I just can not take it anymore

maybe it is me, maybe not
for a long time, I have gotten a vibe that I am not really well liked here, even when folks would say I am, I still had the underlying vibe that I am not.

I will admit, I did want to be friends with you guys, I did want to be invited to the parties and be part of the fun, I even went to the hangout, and tried to well.. hang out, but that vibe continued

so, instead of feeling like an outsider and that is a feeling I can not shake, I am choosing to move on, to not let it hurt.

why am I posting this, I really don't know, maybe to get it out, maybe to try to explain how it feels, maybe to show anyone who might be feeling the same way, that they are not alone, I don't know...

I wish you all everything you could ever want, and hope that both your RL and SL is happy and healthy

I do so wish it could have been different, but I think it is me more than anything, I just don't fit in

My SL will change, not having the forums being a big part of it, but I will adapt.

so as my mom used to tell me, if you are not wanted somewhere, don't go there, go where you are wanted, and I know my friends in SL love me, and want me, and enjoy my company, and now I can be the friend they deserve
This guy posts this and even his thread is turned into a joke by the clique of forum banterers - all trying to out-wit one another and stomp the life out of the guy that called them small-minded.

From reading the OPs post I would consider this a subtle hint that this sort of behavior is not really appreciated. The usual suspects considered that he is emotionally exhausted and needs a break. Please consider that posting in a public forum does not have to give you the same sensation as diving into a pool of pirhana. We all know that many people will not post here because of fear of being attacked. This does not have to be. Just take it down a notch and hold back when you want to say something uber rude (for sh*ts and giggles). Just once in a while: If you have nothing nice to say do not say anything at all.

Oh God! I picked up a whole bushel of tomatoes today for my Saturday barbecue today at the farm near me, Frickin Huge Red Beasties. God Bless Jersey Tomatoes....and Corn. Got a bushel of that too.

this guy is a girl, and maybe we're just trying to lighten it up so she'll see how much we adore her and want her back!

don't misjudge all the intentions of anyone in any given thread, because the relationships vary with the OP and some of us genuinley want her back!

But I do want you to know that she read my post and sent me a private IM to thank me for nailing it on the head. It was quite obvious what she was saying about the behavior here - and I do know most of you realized that but did not want to admit it.

I'm going to agree with Lias here. I completely understand where Rha is coming from. I feel it too..........but I react differently, I guess. There is a core group here who seem to dominate the forums.......for the most part it's fine, even funny. But sometimes, when a poster is serious, that comic crap gets real old, real fast. Rha is a very nice person even though I've only met her in world once (actually it was not me but my alt..........she custom made me a shape in her shore and only wanted the price of an already made shape). She's a great artist, genuinely sincere person. She's also opinionated as a lot of us are..........and stands her ground when she's sure of her personal feelings on any subject. That, is admirable in any person.

I'm going in world to search for her now...............to offer friendship so I don't lose contact.

Is there really even the throughput to justify all this worry over a "clique"?

Sorry to keep repeating myself but these forums are insanely slow.

Why is everyone so uptight about it all still?

A year ago .. maybe .. still a stretch. But now?

Heck 3/4th of the infamous "Clique" doesn't even post regularly any more.

Er... Did you read the last couple pages of this thread?

It's less like a clique and more like a bunch of people who can't show any respect when somebody wants to say something serious.

I avoid "cliques" like the plague. That said, the "Forum Cartel" is (probably; not really met many of you outside the forums; I can't (and don't) judge someone from forum posting alone) probably a bunch of cool people.

People come to the forums for different reasons. Some come to air grievances. Some come to ask questions, or get info about something they are interested in. Still others come to just "hang out", or socialize. I tend to think that LL specifically got rid of the "social" forums with the intention to encourage people to socialize INside SL itself. They erred in that judgment, IMO, since SL access is not necessarily as available as web access.

Still, I think people tend to get very unrealistic views of themselves and their relationships to one another in a forum. I have seen it before. It is one reason I involve myself in flameboards elsewhere, because it reminds me that, no matter how much bile anyone spews in a forum, or how uber nice they are, it isn't as important in the greater scheme of things as really getting to know someone. In here, it is words, and just words. As such, people getting upset, feeling not liked, etc tends to bring up my "ZOMG! Drahma Llama!" defense reflex.

So, what does all of this mean? Well, to Rhaorth, I say: Just chill out and chat. Don't worry about what someone says to you or anyone else with some words. The only power words have over anyone is what people give to them. Most important of all, avoid getting emotionally involved in a bunch of text. Text isn't a person, and is usually a fairly poor representation of them. Do you realize that you are probably getting super upset over your /impressions/ of people and what they are saying, and maybe just taking things a /tad/ too seriously?

Even the worst asshat who sends me hateful PMs now and then, I still don't worry myself over it. There are BILLIONs of people out there who I can make friends with, and the small number of people who make themselves my enemy (I have no natural enemies, for obvious reasons), I don't worry myself over one moment longer than I want to. (and, yes, I do get hatemail once in a while; to those who sent me such "love", thanks for the entertainment! :D )

I dunno...

If every discussion between people who know each other is going to be a disagreement about who is posting on what thread about what topic..

In another year there is going to be all of 4 people, 2 of whom are complaining about the other 2.

This "guy" is a girl- us "regulars" actually like her- she is having a bad time and venting. We are not going to treat her any differently than we ever have cause that's what friends do- they josh you and joke with you and prod you until you feel better.

We all hope she will just take her time and realize that friends and family have differences of opinion and just cause u dont agree all the time u dont leave your friends and or family.

Rha will get this out of her system and when she comes back she will be welcomed as she always has been- and if she doesnt come back to the forums- that is her choice- her friends will still love her and be her friends in-world and be the richer for it.

Heck me and Talarus battled it out for over 100 pages and it got pretty mean, but I think he is a pretty good guy now.

I meant the senseless babble that people feel the need to inject into every thread. Take the post above yours, and 1/2 the other posts in the last few pages, as example.

Certainly is enlightening and ironic, no?

I marvel when I see people denying that there is a contingent of posters, some of whom leap into territorial defense mode whenever this topic comes up, and then go on to behave exactly as they have been described.

It's not a clique in the strictest sense of the word. It's just a core group of a few people who constantly "derail" the thread to be witty or funny......tell in the open some punch line to an inside joke that no one else knows.

And, of course, they "wait" till the "question" is answered first...........or they wait till they THINK the question is answered...............or the topic is discussed "enough". Happens to most threads in this forum. And it's the same people everytime.
