Rha, I know we sometimes frustrate each other but, for me at least, it's a matter of not liking a particular opinion or perspective, not of disliking YOU. Life, first or second, would be dull if we all saw things exactly the same way and, even when I disagree vehemently, I still really prefer it when people are honest about what they're thinking. Well, most of the time, anyway... ;)

I've never really understood why you feel like an outsider here. Some relationships are naturally closer than others but, overall, I don't see you being treated any differently than anyone else. Much like siblings, a lot of the people here tend to vacillate along a spectrum of getting along famously and rolling around on the floor scratching and pulling each other's hair...that's just human (and forum) nature.

Take a break if you need to but, please, don't leave permanently.

You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

/me sends Rha a hug and a cookie.

I'll also say what others have said: don't write the forums off totally. Walk away for a bit if you need to but feel free to come back and say howdy some time!

... I am not leaving second life, but I am leaving the forums... I just can not take it anymore ...

i can see your point. the forums are NOT what they used to be. i guess lack of moderation has done them in.

i see so many .. "what do you think of [fill in blank]" threads, etc now. and don't even TRY to ask a real question without having your asbestos suit on first.

i won't go into details, but i don't read them as much as i used to. and i post oh so infrequently.

you're sanity will thank you, rhaorth. live your second life IN second life.

ps> there is a posting somewhere on the web about the dangers of reading the forums associated with any on-line game. it's geared toward WoW and it's forums but is totally applicable here. i wish i could remember what it's url is so i could post it here. sorry.

I must say I have been on the forums very little recently as I don't find it the friendliest of places and know of quite a few who stopped coming some months ago. The bad thing is, it's often those with the knowledge who are builders, texturers, scripters etc that find they are ignored. Maybe this forum has just become more of a playground and if you aren't one of the popular kids nobody will play with you.

I have to strongly disagree with this point, Takahiro.
With extremely rare exceptions, when an SL-related question is asked in a reasonable manner, answers tend to pour in within minutes.
Certainly, there's often some banter, sometimes the answers are incorrect and need some debate, and reponses can be less friendly if the OP is filled with rants and invectives, but one does NOT need an asbestos suit on when simply coming here for help.

Invariably, any drama ensues when people begin to include personal matters, drop unrelated comments, lack respect for each other, not read posts carefully enough and take umbrage, or have some other agenda. In short, off-topic stuff. Like Brenda suggested, drama happens only when you let it.

I have yet to see a relevant question treated shabbily.

this used to be a resident answers forum. real answers to real questions. as a newbie, i came here even when i didn't have a question. i picked up quite a few tips and lots of valuable information.

there also used to be a general discussion forum. but it was was deleted a while ago. you can imagine why. when the moderators fled these fora (or when they decided not to moderate), the RA forum morphed into the long-lost GD.

hence the builder/texturer/scripter flight.

i agree, denise, it's a shame.

Rha, I for one will miss you.. I always found your posts well thought out, and helpful.. It never mattered if I agreeded or not with your position, I always enjoyed the way you stated it.. You would always make me thing and often really look at what I was thinking and why.

I hope you come back, I will miss your thoughtful and thought provoking posts.

There is a place for building/texturing/scripting questions and it's not here.

That is why we have content creation forums to begin with. If every question under the SL sun was asked here, the place would be far too busy and even more confusing than it already is for newbies.

I also agree with Brann, that any serious question for help is answered promptly. But some people's definition of "help" is apparently "agree with me on some controversial topic" and well, you shouldn't expect much "help" of that nature.

With 4,000+ posts I always considered you one of the "in" crowd in these forums. And quite often found your posts insightful and helpful.

You do what you must do to regain your equilibrium and take care. Your voice will be missed here for a long time to come.

Well.. As pretty much everyone has, and will, say.. You're more than welcomed to stay here!

I've left several places due to that 'unwanted' feeling.. And after awhile I began to regret a few of those times. Hopefully you'll come back someday when you feel ready enough to. Just don't like some pixels on the screen ruin your day! =)

If, hypothetically, you were to decide to leave SL too (and I hope you don't)......

can I have your stuff?

You don't see me letting a little thing like being wildly unpopular put a dampener on my day now, do you?

To Rha - I will miss you on the forums. And I will be in world if you ever wish to IM or chat. You take care of "you" - you have a lot on your plate right now RL & SL and your health/well-being is the most important thing, no matter what you need to do to achieve that.

There have been clues for some time that something you hoped for from people who post here has been missing for you.

I'm hardly an insider myself but from the time I have spent observing and trying to join in my solid impression of you is that you are an amazingly talented artist, and an intelligent and thoughtful person. I've noticed that a lot people, including me, enjoy having you here and wish we knew how to make you understand that and be satisfied with it.

But there is no point in subjecting yourself to unnecessary aggravation and disappointment when there are so many other things you could be doing and people you could be meeting. I'll miss you and I hope I do see you again, here or in world or somewhere. Meanwhile please believe Dear Rha that you have my very best wishes.

As usual, Kaimi says what I think better than i can say it... :)

I sincerely hope you find what you are looking for, in SL and RL. Whatever you wish to find, you will never find it without, until you find it within. (A close approximation of a Wiccan saying.) All my best wishes for your health and fulfillment, Rha.

maybe it is me, maybe not
for a long time, I have gotten a vibe that I am not really well liked here, even when folks would say I am, I still had the underlying vibe that I am not.

I think you're mistaking unfavorable responses to some of your postings, for personal dislike toward you.

Like most of us, you've said things that somebody was bound to disagree with. Few people are going to fault you for that. But among the many helpful postings you've made, Rha, you've also made quite a few drama-magnet doozies. Some of the newer people here can't even see them now because you've deleted so many of them. I've had the reaction many times of "How in the hell is she ever going to handle the criticism she's going to get for this one?"

You're absolutely free to be controversial, and opinionated, and stir some sh*t, but you have to be prepared to take the inevitable heat for it. You can't have it both ways. You can't take an aggressive controversial stance on something and then claim to be all sensitive and hurt when the fallout hits.

Personally, I can't stand that crap: it really gets under my skin, so I stay away from it for the most part, and stick to the content-creation threads or just answer questions about land and property. Often times I simply can't stand looking at the forums at all and I just disappear for long periods.

I think you should just take a break, and come back, and then just think carefully about how you want to be engaged by your peers, and only engage them on that level. Good luck, have some low-stress fun in-world, and come back soon! --Avion

In my 13+ years of using the internet I have never posted a thread where I state I am leaving, because I knew I would be back eventually

tonight/today I make an exception

tonight/today I post my goodbye

This is not easy to do.

I am not leaving second life, but I am leaving the forums... I just can not take it anymore

maybe it is me, maybe not
for a long time, I have gotten a vibe that I am not really well liked here, even when folks would say I am, I still had the underlying vibe that I am not.

I will admit, I did want to be friends with you guys, I did want to be invited to the parties and be part of the fun, I even went to the hangout, and tried to well.. hang out, but that vibe continued

so, instead of feeling like an outsider and that is a feeling I can not shake, I am choosing to move on, to not let it hurt.

why am I posting this, I really don't know, maybe to get it out, maybe to try to explain how it feels, maybe to show anyone who might be feeling the same way, that they are not alone, I don't know...

I wish you all everything you could ever want, and hope that both your RL and SL is happy and healthy

I do so wish it could have been different, but I think it is me more than anything, I just don't fit in

My SL will change, not having the forums being a big part of it, but I will adapt.

so as my mom used to tell me, if you are not wanted somewhere, don't go there, go where you are wanted, and I know my friends in SL love me, and want me, and enjoy my company, and now I can be the friend they deserve

I know what your saying the fourms are really clicky to be sure. But for me that just makes it WAY more fun giving'em hell and messing with thier tiny minds heh and MASSIVE egos LOL.
Ya shouldnt let them chase ya out ALWAYS make them run first ;-)

Oh, come on. Join any newsgroup that features anything - anything - related to politics to see what the end of mankind will look like, just before some alien drifts through and shoots the surviving raving maniacs.

Any unmoderated newsgroup related to sports also will trend occasionally to vitriol when long held beliefs, semi-religious and otherwise, collide. For instance, join any bicycle road racing forum and state that Lance Armstrong is the greatest cyclist/has the greatest palmares for winning all those Tours and step back and wait for the Eddy Merckx fans to come at you, complete and replete with torches.

The forums here are absolutely benign compared to the last 20 years of newsgroups. I was first flamed in Pine... (anyone under 40, don't ask)
