Everything I do in SL is out of love. Honest! If Love was a last name option, you could be Honest Love ![]() _____________________

I just wanted an ordinary sounding name that people could remember, so I chose a fairly standard English surname. That limited my choice of first name. There are some names that I really like, such as Adam and Jamie, but they were taken for all of the surnames I liked. So I finally settled on Damien cos I sort of like the name, and it wasn't taken!

Basically, I listen to waaaay too much Jethro Tull. It's not spelled the same way as in the song, but hee! And Seisenbacher was the only last name to fit with it very well.

RL middle names are James and Frederick.
Anonymous enough, but still personal. |

I've been Amaranthim since I came online eons ago... Amaranth is a flower, therefore, Amaranth I am... and Talon just sounded vaguely threatening

Mine is the name I used for an online text-based RPG years ago, and is a name I've used since for various purposes online.

I'm incredibly inept at thinking of names when it comes to the "pickone" page but picked the name Bad Medicine on another 3D chat so when I came to SL I kept the "Bad" as most of the people I talk to came from the same chat and have been friends now for several years

I was looking for something that sounded Hillbilly. I chose the first name Jethro (nothing more Hillbilly than Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies) before I searched for a last name. But amazingly, it took me several tries before I found a last name that hadn't already used Jethro!

Mine is based on the X-Men comic book character of Jubilee (Jubilation Lee). She is sassy, a smart mouth, and gets herself in trouble -- reflects my character. I just twisted the spelling around.
I've used Joobilee for a few years now and I have a feeling it'll stick. Also, Joobilee is close to what my RL name is. Shhh. Figure it out. |

The only thing of greater significance than our first names is spelling and grammar in chat/forums.

I have been Honey in some form or another since 1994 when I first signed on to the www.
I wanted Honey as my name, but every last name listed had already been coupled with Honey, so I borrowed Bear (the name of a group I was in, in another game I played at the time I joined, but has since been terminated...who has time for another game??), and became HoneyBear. But please, just call me Honey ![]() _____________________

I just loved finding the name Raymaker, I already had in mind Dekka as a corruption of the spelling Deckard, the character in Blade Runner

Sansa and Arya are sisters in George R.R. Martin's fantasy book series, A Song of Ice and Fire. They are complete opposites, so I figured combining them would be fun and connote dualism...or something I dunno why I chose Caligari, but it had nothing to do with film noir or 3D web software companies.I love that series. _____________________

while I'm waiting for windlight to download, I'll tell you...
back in the day, I used to frequent poetry readings... had a bit of a following, but was never sure if it was for what I had to say or just me in general... my friend had this girlfriend, much younger than him, that used to show up to the readings and never said a word. one night, she got up and dedicated a poem to me. was about cutting off her little toe and wearing it as a pendant around her neck... stared at me the whole time she was reading it. and I realized, in that moment, that this was somebody who'd really been listening to what I'd been saying, all along. she disappeared not long after that and no one ever saw her again. but her poem stuck with me. when folks ask me what my name means, I've always told them it's just because I have an absurdist sense of humor and my name could have easily been "creamed corn"... but there's the real story. heh. bet yer sorry you asked. |

I'll try and start a thread. I was just reading the thread about anonymity/disclosure and it occurred to me that our first names here must have some significance. Anyone care to share the reasons for their choice of name? Mine is pretty obvious but some are very ethereal and interesting. Kitten is a nickname in real life. I have been somewhat confused, though, by the offers of milk and fish Much appreciated, but, eh? ![]() By the way, anyone know what Inshan means? I forgot to look it up before I used that one. I "picked" that one because every other name just didn't seem to work for me. As in already being used by someone else. Did find out Bimbogami means the god of poverty in Japan. I mean the god that wants you to be poor. Well the place I looked mentioned something about a male deity that looks filthy and wants to eat your wealth, or something like that. And there was a picture of a roach. |

I like alliteration. I picked Mielziner from the surname list because it's the name of a famous theatrical desigher (Jo Mielziner the foremost American scenic designer of the 20th century...i.e. Death of a Salesman, Streetcar Named Desire, etc.)
I wanted something more musical sounding to go with my chosen surname, because theatrical or not, Mielziner doesn't exactly trip off the tongue. I was searching for a alliterative name. I once knew a couple who named their baby "Marin" and loved it, and for some reason it popped into my head. It's MAER - in, accent on the 1st syllable - NOT Maer - IN, like the California county - or Marine (although I love the sea and uh....Marines!) - or marr - in. I realized when voice chat began that everyone had their own ideas how to pronounce it. When I first heard my SL boyfriend say it, HE pronounced it like the county, but now he's straight with it. |

I just made Derbor up a long time ago. I used it as the name to sign up for stuff that might generate lots of junk mail.
When I got my SL account I was not intending on staying... I was just going to spend enough time in SL to understand what was behind all the hype and see how the technology would impact my work. Well, the best laid plans... I ended up enjoying it so much that it has become part of my daily routine. Well, needless to say my name has been elevated to represent who I am in my second life. I don't use it to as the 'junk mail' name anymore.. - So, it went from something that really had no meaning.. to a meaningful name at least to me..d |
