For reinstating a general forum? I can't say I remember the codes off-hand, I'll have a look. But there are assorted related features on the JIRA, mostly in the WEB area if I recall.

Ya know,
in inventory I have a bulletin board (can be found for $1L at a certain yard

). It allows anyone to leave a note tacked on it I believe. Though not a running thread like here in the forums it may address in world the need for bantering or communing with friends. In a way all of second life is a giant forum with the ability to actually address each other toon to toon.

Bulletin boards could be in multiple places were all those interested could join in, leave notes or heaven forbid interact. It'd be the perfect place to joke or argue (for those who like the exploration of differences).

Maybe even create a group (lol) and run a long group chat and carry on famously

. I hear there are both mainland and private Island estates that have meeting halls. There are even build tools allowing anyone the ability to create an environment of their liking.

Could even name the group " in-world resident answers" ( kinda like the old live help, jeesh I miss that)

For down time maybe a Friends & Banter or even Opinion forum.

I don't even know what to think when I see this issue pop up. I like these forums, but I know I'm one of the guilty parties.

I see posters gripe in one thread about off-topic posting, but then post a news story that has nothing to do with SL in another. It's not ok for forum regulars to discuss off topic subjects, but it's perfectly fine for people who perceive themselves to be "outsiders" to do it because they're in the oppressed minority? How does that not reek of hypocrisy? Complain about how the regulars attack you, without being able to provide a single concrete example of an attack, but then attack the forum regulars repeatedly, and usually without provocation. Nice little scam you have worked out there.

So, I feel like I can't post. I'm not an old-timer like a lot of the people here. I'm not a scripting genius or a land baron or an accomplished builder. I'm just a guy who really loves SL and really loves the friends he's made here and in-world. But I see people post that people like me are the reason they are going to other forums. That says to me that I'm unwelcome on other forums because people there were driven there by the likes of me. So what am I to do at this point? I can't post here because nobody wants my off-topic stuff and I'm not perceived as being smart enough to help in any meaningful way, and I can't post elsewhere because people there are there because they don't like me.

I give up. Seriously. What a bunch of crap. Sorry if I've offended anyone or pissed anyone off with this post or other stuff in the past.

Well, it didn't actually get deleted. It ended up locked when it was moved to the Resident-Run Websites forum at /128/5a/248568/1.html. And I guess I was part of the complaining "swarm" just because it was obvious from the first few posts that it just wasn't going to be a discussion about the in-world club, but rather a rancorous debate about RL politics in the US. The minority of us who live in the US might find such a debate interesting, but we really don't need to go to the official SL Forums to find that content. So, I don't think Resident Answers is worse for not having that thread here longer. I am disappointed in the treatment the OP received in that thread, but I think the thread itself was handled appropriately.

Well said, calling for threads to be closed and moderated, is like trying to ban the shopping and sports channels just because you don't like them.
It's quite simple, don't open the thread if it doesn't interest you

And whether you like it or not RA is the default General discussion Forum, feet have voted, get used to it.
