Actually, she did reply. Right before it was deleted.
Crap! I missed that. Now I'll never know how the story turned out!

I don't know why this lack of closure never bothered me the dozen times I started "Remembrance of Things Past." ;)

Did the Lindens put something in the water? No one is acting the least bit normal today.

I don't know, but I am very cranky today. I think I need a vacation from these boards.:o

She basically posted an email between her and the company about the textures in question. Which just led to more confusion and questions rather than actually explained anything IMO.

I half expect this thread to be locked imminently. Which is fine, because it's a moderator moderating us (me). Not some yahoo with an opinion. ;)

I still have to laugh at the concept of what amounts to a lurker Moderator. (look at MT's 6 year post-history)

Guess this makes up for all those message boards where the lurkers' voices aren't heard.

Of course .. thats because they are lurking ..

-----------
I lurk on about 6 different forums sites .. I'm only active on this one. I guess I figure since I lurk on those I am just an observer.

aren't *you* policing it when you explain why it shouldn't be policed?

Love Hastings: That's already been covered in this thread.

Oh, I could go again in a heartbeat! That's part of being so narcissistic...

Ricardo, you aren't trying to "moderate" my postings, are you? Hehe.

Ricardo? Moderate? It isn't in his nature. That's one of the things that makes him so endearing.

i stopped because i said what i had to say, my point was made clearly, and don't feel like engaging a nonsensical arguement that refuses to be logical and mature, and don't need the last word to be arrogant and smug in my stance. ;)

and this forum is being policed AS WE SPEAK. and Millie broke down and is making noise. i am especially pleased to see the suicide hotline information being provided. very responsible of LL to make that available.

back to RA as intended. YAY.

Is that some sort of pointed comment? I think it was.

I refer you back to my original post, just in case you've lost sight of it. Also the post about moving past my obviously character flaws and actually discussing the topic in the thread. And finally, I'd like to suggest that you stop trying to bully me. So there!

3ring, I like you. But get off your freakin high horse. Your posting history is just as bad as anyone else's, but yours lately has been made up of "Oh I hate how the forums are now." over and over again.

I'm not offended or pissed, I'm horrified.

Look what you people did to poor Trout. The man who makes this place a fun place to be. The guy who gives out hugs when someone needs them. The one who can see the humor in almost anything, and make us see it too.

Trout, the only man in the world who could call a woman a slut and be sincerely thanked for it.

Anyone who would chase such a person from the forums should be whipped and boiled.

This is not a happy Friday for me.
What about me??? I think a whole heck of a lot like my buddy Trout here...well OK, I don’t go around calling women sluts. But I am full of useless advice and junk like that. I feel like a veritable lurker on the more 'technical' posts... eyes wide in amazement. I tend to genuflect at all the teckie guru's, and nod my head 'uh huh', saying things like ‘whet they said’. I feel a whole hell of a lot more comfortable responding in the more touchy feely, warm fuzzy threads, at least I can get away of BS’ing my way through those (yeah right...no one lets ANYONE have any slack there)...
And now I must say I just LOVE Trout's humor. Who else is there to give us the smiley face view of every dark cloud? (So don't quit on us now buddy) we could all do with a good dose of fish and finger pie!

And um...what about me???

/grabs GG's tail, turns and drags him to the bar...

You and I, my friend, are going to join Trout in a drink and watch the drama...laugh, throw a tidbit in now and again, eat lots of pretzels and think up some good jokes...

/buys a whiskey for GG and bourbon for Trout, a saucer of milk for himself, and try's to remember a joke he actually knows the punchline for...

So when I see a thread I'm not interested in, I don't read it. Or if a thread loses my interest, I don't read it. When I think a thread is inappropriate, I don't read it.

What I don't do is AR it, or campaign to get it, and threads like it, abolished.

For two reasons. The first is, it's the internet, and you'll never win a fight like that.

The second is, who am I to tell others what they can and cannot post?

Obviously, this is LL's house (even if the landlord never seems to drop by to say hi or fix the leaky sink or test the fire sprinklers), so LL can dictate whatever they want. If they choose to, which they basically don't.

The only arguments I've heard which make any sense is that it's somehow stopping honest resident questions from being asked or answered. I just don't see threads not getting answered around here. I don't believe that argument. And it's very difficult to gauge how many people don't ask questions because of off topic posts here, but I suspect it's pretty small.

So why do *you* try to police this forum?

When somebody AR's or complains about a thread, I have this image in my mind of the "concerned citizen" writing the major television network complaining about something they saw during prime time last night.

Good post, Love.......I agree......too bad you didn't write it last weekend when some around here got that poor conservative guy Aeon and his club run out of town and off the forums.

I have never abuse-reported a thread. Never. I can only think of two or three cases where I would: 1) If the poster revealed real-life information about another resident that wasn't already listed in that resident's profile. 2) If the post contained threats or information that I thought could constitute a threat to other residents or the grid or forum (for example, a list of resident passwords). 3) I MIGHT report a thread where someone posted obscene NSFW material without any warning, but I've never been moved to do so just yet; I just ignore it, although any respect I might have had for the offender takes a bit of a hit.

I find it cowardly, childish, and just plain lame to AR a post simply because you disagree with it, or because it's like posted in the wrong forum or something. I know the admins of some other SL-related forums and I know for a fact that there's a handful of forumgoers (some of whom are regulars here as well ;) ) who report EVERY THREAD they disagree with- or where someone flames them- instead of responding to the thread intelligently or (alternatively) just ignoring it.

I'm sorry, but if you're over 18 and you need to AR everyone who disagrees with you, I advise you to turn off the computer and live a little until you understand why that kind of behavior is unsustainable.

Trout is my very favorite person here. Everything he says is smart, wise, amusing, and never mean spirited. I doubt he'll be chased away by the type of people who lack the wit to enjoy his comments.

Complaining about and trying to change the behavior of other people is the natural inclination of all of us who are procrastinating on the job of improving ourselves. But after awhile most of us realized it's not worth the frustration.
