I have to point out that the "report post" button is _not_ an "AR button". All it does is send a message to moderators.

Huh what did I miss who chased away Trout?

Well no one; that's my point. He did mention that he finds some of the complaints going around to be a bit tiresome though.

Complaining about and trying to change the behavior of other people is the natural inclination of all of us who are procrastinating on the job of improving ourselves.

You totally had me until "of improving ourselves". Remove those three words, and that's it completely.

I hope LL had enough compassion for its employees that they have a button that sends a message back, when appropriate, saying, "Ah shaddap, ya little crybaby."

I very rarely AR a post, unless it passes the threshold of what I feel is acceptable, a threshold that takes a lot to exceed. :)

Having said that though, I will say I don't read 80% of the threads because they are for the most part either completely off the topic of SL, or about pies, cakes, or other baked goods. I come here to discuss SL, i'll go to Bakery.com if I want to discuss cakes and cookies. :) However, I respect the right of those obsessed with confections to discuss them if they want.

Ok perhaps I was projecting. I shouldn't assume it's true of any one else. For myself it always comes back to if I am focused on being happy with myself I don't mind at all what other people are doing if it isn't having any material effect.

That's already been covered in this thread.

I feel like I'm in some sort of time loop or something. Groundhog day?

Been there know that lol. You can pretty well bet with great odds the kind of reception you'll recieve with even some relatively passive comments and questions. Sometimes it appears shoot the messenger and ignore the message is the goal of some who would carry on with inane comments.

Resident answers in concept a good idea to help when needed. When the goal is to get x amount of posts you'll find all kinds of irrelevant comments and inuendo's that seem to either minimize a legitimate concern or de-rail the conversation.

Situation then appear to rise that your in arguments that are non-productive and the concept of helping turns into a "chicken-pecking- party. OOps got a spot of blood on me now lol.

Not saying that having 1,000's of posts is neccesarily wrong or bad but I wonder at times when one is so concentrated on giving their opinions where they found time to experience (learn) in world knowledge?

Productive help shows a good heart and community spirit which is what I think "Resident Answers" was all about.

Don't worry about it. Very few of us here can claim to wear pure white. We've all been naughty at one time or another.

So true... How can any argument on a forum be more important than RL.

Pie is an old internet stand-in for

"I think this thread has outlived its usefulness"

And that use to be true here. Questions were answered and debated and then once it became obvious that the thread had outlived it's usefulness (obviously subjective) then someone would bring up pie.

That's not true anymore. It's pie pie pie all the time. I'm amazed more haven't gotten tired of it.

I'll give my personal perspective on when I came to the forums. When I first came to find answers I was frustrated by all the pie and pantie jokes because it became hard to search through a thread to find answers - and many times very good answers come after the pie, etc discussions. As a newbie to the forum it made it difficult.

Eventually I got acclimated to the forums and joined in the fun. I was honored when people started referring to me as a member of the so called clique. I had come to understand what I stated above, that despite the silliness, the work always got done and I had great fun with it.

That tide has turned. It appears to me that we have a vast number of newer people that started coming in at the end of last year who I don't think have ever posted a question or answered one. They see this as a Fun and Conversation Only Forum. I don't blame them, it's the perspective they saw as it was headed that way. Many of our regulars who I had high regard for rarely seem to be answering questions anymore either. They only come on now to join in the fun too. Sometimes they get in really heated arguments as well, but that's not the same as assisting.

Love and others have expressed they don't see questions not being answered and maybe that's true. My observation is that they are not answered nearly as well because not as many are giving feedback as in the past. In addition, there are a lot less questions being asked than I can recall. Granted, I don't have actual numbers, but it's my observation. If they have reduced, as I believe they have, I think it has to do with the change of the tone of the forums also.

As I said before, I think the turning tide occurred when we lost a moderator. We always had silly threads and I joined in many, but Strife would come in and lock them. That kept them from getting too long or the forum having too many at one time.

If this forum is going to be like SLU then why have this forum at all?The tone has changed dramatically here. Obviously I'm in the minority and most seem happy about that. As much as I wish I had the power to change it to what I prefer, I know that is not the case. I don't have to like what I see happening though, and will likely to continue to grumble about it because I see it as a very sad turn of events.
