From: Argent Stonecutter Can't you rez it against their boat then edit it out over the ocean? (and I still don't understand why Linden Land is always no-build anyway) Actually, there are a few ocean sims around Heterocera Continent that allow build anywhere. Most have 15 minute auto-return as I recall, but I know of a handfull that have it set at 60 minutes.

OK, fair enough. I don't understand why almost all Linden land is no-build, then.

From: Milla Janick There are rez zones throughout Blake's Sea, although they aren't marked well.
There's great scenery there, too. I'm going to spend a lot of time there. Nice to fly over, too.

Thank you Gabriele

From: Gabriele Graves Me too - that is what we have at my place too Thank you for the kind words. Glad you are enjoying your J&S Free Helipad too. Since November of 2007 over 5000 of those helipads have been acquired by SL residents. The helipad is only one of the free items we have made to thank all the customers we have had over the last 2.5 years. The residents of SL have been very kind to make J&S and Blue Sky Aviation such a commercial success. We also owe a lot of thanks to many of the great aircraft builders who have provided us with quality products and demos for the enjoyment of our visitors. Though we do not make claims to be "the most centralized aviation hub in all of SL", (not sure how that was determined as not all the continents are linked), we have lots you can do for free here. Also since we have no residents paying money to live along side our runway in Hawkside everyone should feel equally at home. Anyways all that bla bla aside you are welcome to come visit us in Hawkside where you can grab some more freebies or just enjoy many of the free recreational activities we offer from our facility which abutts over 30 protected Linden water sims. There are no list of restrictions in the protected Linden sims abutting Hawkside for aircraft. Also I encourage you all to get out and explore all the great sailing and flying areas in SL as well as the USS sims and the Blake Sea. (shameless plug) Happy sailing and flying and long may the rules of estate owners be confined to their estates.

Blake Sea Easter Eggs
01-27-2009 18:50
I think I mentioned yesterday that I had found a couple of Hammerhead sharks roaming around in the ocean that were owned by Governor Linden. Well evidently that are more surprises waiting for us. Someone mentioned the crashed plane and I have seen that one also but today I came across a floating green bottle that was also owned by our Gov. When you click on the bottle you get this message:

Who controls race wind. It seems as though race wind has been on all evening. How large of an area does race wind affect?

From: Sindy Tsure Ok.. Where's the thead to solve this mystery? Well you pulled out just as I pulled in to Half Hitch. I would suggest this would be the thread but i think we are shooting ourselves in the foot. Everyone, Sailing is horribly boring and there is nothing to see in the Blake Sea!

I can't check in-world, but if that's the crane barge I'm thinking of it's been there quite a while.

Alright I stayed up waaaaaay too late playing tonight but just wanted to say:
Thank you Linden Labs! This is by far the nicest thing you have ever done for the residents! Hopefully someday we will be able to sail around all of the continents.

Thank you Linden Labs! This is by far the nicest thing you have ever done for the residents! Hopefully someday we will be able to sail around all of the continents. Jesse there is a continent you can sale all around. I think it is some 80 plus sims you travel through. I took a little fly and sail around Blake Sea this morning. I loved it!! I have to thank the Lindens for this great spot too. Thank you Lindens. This will be a great place for all residents of SL as long as Linden Labs do not permit a small group of estate owners to be able to tell all the rest of the SL residents how they must operate their vehicles or they have to move because because the estate owners are holding events at whim in public mainland Linden owned regions. Imagine you are sailng and a group of boats involved in an USS organized event come along and tell you that you must move because they have more rights than you do on public mainland. Or imagine a flyin is held at one of the six USS airports and a group of planes come along and tell you are interfering with their event and what you must do. I think that would cause a great deal of friction. If the Lindens allow events to be held in the Blake Sea that would require the citizens of Second Life to observe certain rules they need to make sure that all citizens have an opportunity to schedule and promote such events in the Blake Sea and not just a small group of estate owners that make up the USS. I am confident it will stay under the rules of the TOS. To adjoin public mainlan to a group of estates that engage in commerce and have special interests and then give them authority over this mainland would be akin to Linden Labs having all SL residents sponsor those estates. Most people in SL respect the rights of others and I expect Blake Sea will continue to be a great place for all SL citizens to freely enjoy! Lets see that it benefits all SL citizens equally and not favor a small group of estate owners special interests and commerce over all other SL citizens. Climbing down off soapbox. Thank you Lindens!!!

Quote from Jack Linden's Blog Post
01-28-2009 05:55
Below is from Jack's original post to the blog:
"Shiver me timbers me hearties! If you’re a fan of all things nautical then we have exciting news! A new Mainland sailing area will soon appear off the coast of Nautilus in a joint community project between Linden Lab and the estate owners of the United Sailing Sims (USS) group." .........
"This is the first time that we’ve allowed estates to connect to the Mainland in this way, and it is testimony to both the great community the USS has built up, and our desire to work with Resident groups to improve the Mainland experience in different and innovative ways.
Whilst the Sea will be Linden Land, we will be working closely with the USS to provide Sailing and other water activities, games and fun things to discover.
For all Residents, as well as the USS, this offers unprecedented open water to sail through, hang out in or just explore. There will be islands for viewing the regular USS race events and scripted boats or planes to ferry our intrepid residents safely across the Sea from Nautilus. If you haven’t tried sailing inworld, it might soon be time to give it a whirl!
As this project moves along, expect to see updates either here on the Blog or on the DPW wiki page.
Please also visit the USS website and their Events Listings.
Jack Linden"

Anyone else having problems getting into Brigantine? The region handoff between there and Spyglass seems totally borked. Between those two and other sims is OK, just a bit slower than usual. Sometimes you can't even see Spyglass from Brigantine.

"Race" Wind
01-28-2009 07:46
From: Jesse Barnett Who controls race wind. It seems as though race wind has been on all evening. How large of an area does race wind affect? There is no overall "race" wind in the Blake Sea. Normally your boat (assuming it is one of the classes of sailboats that uses "race" wind) takes race wind when it is either rezzed close to a wind setter or sails close to one. Most sailboats have the ability for the skipper to set the wind that the boat will use. In terms of how large an area... if a sailboat crosses a startline (i.e. starts a race) then the race wind parameters are locked in until the end of the race. If a sailboat doesn't have locked race wind, then it is possible for you to get new wind when you sail close to a wind setter. There are two wind setters in the Blake Sea. One is in Blake Pacific and the other is in Blake Atlantic. I hope this helps with your question.
