No you werent. You have just complained because of your own interpretation of what she said and now you wont say what it was you thought she meant. You have also spoken for EVERYONE which was a load of rubbish. It seems to me that you are the one with the problem not Honeybear. Is it your church and you feel guilty or something.

Oooh!! Guilt!! Must be a Catholic!

Let's see...I specifically did not name a particular religion or group. If your mind filled the blank in....*shrugs*

OK, so that's now two posts where you're putting words into my mouth.

Bleh.. you played the "innuendo" card, and got bit for it. :p Suck it up.

Why would it matter if you posted the name or not? Because 1) it is in the news a lot from the subject matter (pedophiles), and 2) there's probably a good chance a lot of the members of these forums belong to it. Thus, that makes it VERY likely that people know which church you meant, and even if you didn't mean it, you used the innuendo in such a way that it was gonna attract "their" ire. As a result, you should have expected that kind of response, because you DO know what church is going to be "filled into" that "blank" by the vast majority of the peeps here. ;)

One for the Catholics:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholic_Church_sex_abuse_scandal

A few for the Protestants in general:

http://www.reformation.com/CSA/bibleabuse.html

One specifically for the Baptists:

http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2008/092008/09032008/407678

One for the Hindus:

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-flbteacher0730sbjul30,0,6901123.story

And another for the Buddhists:

http://tokyomango.blogspot.com/2006/10/buddhist-priests-join-professional.html

So...we seem to have a dilemma here...with all those juicy choices, how could one POSSIBLY know which Honeybear was referring to?? Oh my, the consequences of assuming....

Read this carefully. I don't care what the blank got filled in with. That's the wonderful thing about free thought. And while most here have assumed I meant a church where a lot of kneeling and standing is appropriate, I could have said...oh, yes....Honey's House of Fashion Worship....or the Boy Scouts (an organization I'm a staunch supporter of). Instead, I chose to leave my statement "undefined" intentionally.

I'm not apologizing, I'm not sucking anything up.

I'm done discussing this with *you* as well. Have a pleasant day.

Surely you're familiar with Susan Sontag's inital stance of "art for art's sake"....which, extending the analogy, could be summed up in a single declaration: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

*shrug* Everyone makes their choices in what they say, and has to consider their words and the consequences of using them. Or not.

Try to dodge and justify it all you want. I think it was quite clear what "church" you were referring to, myself. You didn't *have* to identify it.

Either way, you uttered the words, and got an expected response, so there's no crying over it now. I would almost call it a good troll post, except it was a little too bland.

You have used the word know a couple of times in your post when you can not possible prove it because you are speaking for other people which makes your argument rubbish. You have also used the word it but you have not stated which church you think it is that Honeybaer means either or perhaps you are Elis alt and have the same problem with naming it. Until you or Eli do name what you think Honeybaer was talking about and show what you think she was talking about then your opinions on what you think other people know arent worth jack.

If you looked hard enough I'm sure you document it happening once in any organization. The fact is it's been reported by the press as happening much much more commonly by one certain religion and that is what people think of when it's hinted around at and that is what there person that posted was joking about.

CATHOLICS for God's sake....CATHOLICS. Yes, it has happened more in the CATHOLIC church. OK, now that the "name" you have all been dancing around is "out", can you just admit to the fact that you can't possibly "know" what's in someone's mind!? Sheesh!!! And for the record, I didn't have to "look" very hard to find those links. If you want, Eli, to look at the research and historic reporting on child molestation and predation in religion, you need look no further than the Buddhist monks. They far outweigh the CATHOLICS (omg, I said it again) in incidents of reported abuse. So....perhaps this history lesson will fall on deaf ears, but honestly, your argument is full of holes that keep getting bigger!

I guess if you really wanted to thumb your nose at the so-called thought police you would just say... "yes... I said what I said.. and it means what you think it means... and I have every right to say it and think it". Instead you try to pretend like you didn't say it.

So you are now talking about religion not church and there is a big difference I think. So when you are talking about the press are you talking about your local paper or the Brisbane Argus. Are you going to tell us which religion because I havent seen problems mentioned much much more commonly about one church than any other. I think I am going to ignore you until you start to argue properly.

You're displaying a global ignorance Eli, assuming that everyone from every country will have access to the same media coverage to which you are referring.
