I had one item I bought with a resize script that self deleated itself after an hour with no changes... which would have been great if I had been finished resizing it.

Went afk to do some laundry and came back to see the Deleation message on my screen.... that was a waste of 300L.

Also one size does not fit all my AVs, I change shapes quite a bit and can be anywhere form 4'1" to 6'6" ...a no mod belt will not fit all of them so is useless to me.

What also helps is to boycott shops that sell no-modify items.
no copy, fine, no transfer, whatever. But at least let me make my clothes fit.
The script sucks anyway. They are just so afraid you take their precious items they lock them up tight. So tight they become useless.

Oh it most certainly does.

Try resizing a belt with little tiny prims in it, you have to edit each individual prim by itself and it never comes out right.

The resize scripts totally solve that problem.

If you right click the item and edit and do set scripts to not running in selection, would that help the lag?

Very true..

Hopefully if the item is no mod it is copy. You make a copy, Resize then remove the scripts with the remove option..

As for Ova and myself.. We offer our products with and without resize scripts. Keeps both sides happy that way. ;)

it seems to be the news trend in the sculpted shoes makers i bought two pairs that are 10/10 for the look and feel but 0/10 because it's nomod and use a stupid resizing script.

Needless to say i will never shop there again. It's stupid, laggy, clunky and it doesn't even protect them, i actually HAVE been tempted to rip them , just so i can get a pair i can actually fit and tweak.

Exactly. If resize scripts were about adding customer convenience they would be put in AND the items would be left modifiable. I have never seen that though.

I just won't buy no mod hair and clothing. Being able to resize something with scripts is no guarantee you can make it fit properly.

I'm often tempted to drop a nicely worded notecard on creators who have gone with no mod/scripted items letting them know why I won't buy from them, but I never have... :(

This.

I also don't buy hair and clothing that are scripted resize / 'no mod'.

Actually I did something simlar to what Nimue mentioned last week (but sort of the other way around). I was at TigerEye looking at some silks and noted that the creator has still not gone with resize scripts on his items (except for one). I noticed he was on so I sent him an IM praising him for *not* using them. We then had a nice conversation about his products and one of the first things he said was something along the lines of "those resizer scripts don't allow you to fit things properly", which I agree with. There's just no reason for hair and certain clothing items to be scripted resize / 'no mod'.

Sounds more like a poorly built belt, without an invisible central root prim.

yes, but everything I have ever seen these scripts in are no-mod objects and you cannot set scripts to not running in a no-mod object.

Once avatar script limits are enabled this should be sorted out.

Resizing unscripted hair:

Stretch hair, re-position
Check 'Edit Linked Parts'
Click wayward lock of hair poking in eye (correct lock instantly highlighted)
Move wayward lock of hair

Resizing scripted hair:

I really like this idea. I need to make more of an effort to let creators know what I like about their work anyway. It seems like valuable information for a merchant to have, that their choice of selling things mod and without resize scripts influenced my choice to buy from them. :)

Positive feedback for the win.

So the creators attitude is one of arrogance. She refuses to provide either mod or refund. So in doing so now loses all future possible business from me.

EDIT: After a long and pleasant discussion with the creator, I wish to retract "arrogant". I felt frustrated at the time and vented a little. She has subsequently sent me a modify skirt so i'm a happy bunny :)

The skirt in question is this one:-

246 prims of scripted, NON MODIFY lag with a channel 0 bling listener that you can't turn off.

(bling suitably removed too :) )

Mariel, that is EXACTLY my experience with scripted hair. Thank you. Would you please send a copy to every maker who uses that wretched system?

Lindal, not just hair but all of this wretched stuff. This commonly used particular resize system is only suitable for a handful of prims, not overlapping, transparent stuff such as hair and flexi parts in skirts.

I would love to see an additional option like ARC in the info displays but "Avatar Script Seconds" or ASS for short. Then we can all see how big someone's ASS is.

If anyone isn't convinced as to the size of this problem, let me know, i'll send you some deliberately badly scripted jewellery I made that won't even let you walk from one sim to the next because it times out on the handoff.

That's the other issue, unreliable teleports, take all this scripted junk out and your teleports become much more reliable so think on that one to those who feel the need to keep their precious sizing scripts.

Lets see if I can persuade Shylah of Damselfly to respond...

that script design is very old and outdated. the old reason to add scripts to every prim was because you can't read individual prim data from a cript in another prim... this is still true. HOWEVER, you can shut them all off via script AND use remote load in a server prim to reload all of them in a few seconds. (of course there's no point in a no mod Item, since one script can reference it's own size and change everything from there and just remember the settings.) there's no excuse for all those idle scripts to be running, it's silly and unnecessary. (never mind it's pretty rare for an item to actually NEED to be no mod, but that's been covered).

either system is conceptually easy to create, it just takes a little forethought.

PS is my A.S.S. too big in this?

About no-mod... Would you buy a car if the hood were welded shut? (=_=)

That said, I LOVE my small prim fixer script. It's just; drop in the root, it self-spreads, finds the 0.010 prims, sets that dimension to 0.015, then deletes itself. EPIC WIN!!! \(^o^)/

Hmm
If you think they are laggy you simply remove the script from your object and POOF, gone lag..

Come on folks
