kinda useless thread I think.
Yesterday, even Americans that know I am Dutch, included me in their wishes.
And that's cool with me, gives me the chance to wish them a wonderful day.

I do the same with our local holidays, and never had an complaint.

If next year you get no wishes, will we see you post that you feel left out?

Not entirely. It reminded me to go and make a delicious leftover cranberry sauce, stuffing and turkey sandwich on one of the freshly baked rolls. ;)

Getting wished a "A Happy Thanksgiving" continuously by Americans, even though I don't celebrate it..(I'm not American ...Yes..it's a shocker, not EVERYONE in SL is American)

America has been good to me. It's where my parents first met. Its people loved me and still love me and I have loved them back (in more ways than one). I have many thanks to give to them. I am not American. But it's been a privilege to know you.

Happy Thanksgiving America!

I personally hope that my friends and acquaintances from other countries than my own include me in their well wishes on their local holidays. Then I will have the opportunity to learn more about their culture, which can only serve to make me a more complete person.

Getting mad when someone wishes you well seems to be unnecessary fence building. I say thank them for their well wishes and ask them why they celebrate that particular holiday. You both will be better off having done so.

Hmmm...

Could it be that people are just being nice and polite? Why would you want that to stop? Accept with good grace and move on or just explain you do not celebrate it because of where you are from and who knows a whole new conversation may ensue and before you know it you may have another friend! They are not giving you a greeting to ruin your day I am sure!

because no one is ever happy.

Case in point best buys add saying..Eid al-Adha’ for the Muslims.. My God you can't wish people greetings over a holiday without being protested or tisked!!

Personally I think its pretty damn cool they remembered.. Most americans maybe had no idea... The key to peace is embracing the diversity of religious and nationality traditions and respect each for what it is!

Wow, someone woke up grumpy this morning. I seriously need to go back to bed...

To the OP, they only want to share their joy with you and many fully expect you to tell them, "Happy X holiday that you don't share with me," too. Instead of being all peevish about it, how about accepting it in the spirit it was given?

Happy Retail Hell Day, folks! May you not get run over by shopping carts and your entitlement whores be light and few!

But why get upset that I dont concider 4th of July something to celebrate personally? It has been suggested to me that it would be better if I celebrated the 4th of July instead of May 17th (which is the independence day of my country), since "after all 4th of July IS the real independence day" as they phrase it .... It is in the US and Rwanda, but all other countries that celebrate this does it on another day. So its not the generic independence day as many Americans seem to think. That said I am happy to wish you a happy 4th of July if you are American or from Rwanda :)

We can be rather parochial, it's true. And offensively so. But I'm sure we don't have a monopoly on that.

Half my family lives in Italy, and I've suffered through conversations that go the other way - not about holidays, but about other things. Generally anyone I meet from Europe wants to tell me how crazy we Americans are. In Italy, they think we know nothing about food, have no national or regional cusine, nothing that resembles coffee in any way, are so barbaric that we eat EGGS for breakfast and drink cappucino at night... our culinary sins are endless, and all evidence of our lack of understanding.

Hell, you people eat chips without salt and vinegar and a nice battered sausage. :-S And what's all this about 'fanny packs'? I'll pass on that one, thank you very much. :-D

EDIT: oh yeah one I forgot. "Can I use your bathroom?" What, you going for a bath then? It's a toilet. A TOILET!

Oh I don't mind, the Americans have been behind us Canadians for years... between July 4th and Thanksgiving... and only one day off around Easter!

Seriously though. I express Happy (fill in American holiday here) to my American friends and business associates without a thought. It's nice to engender warmth between people. And why not?

Although I teased a translplanted from USA to Canada business associate this year about being in a position to celebrate and reap the benefits of TWO different Thanksgiving holidays.

And really... seriously... it's... a holiday. Let's keep it in perspective.

Happy much delayed turkey day... and have fun shopping today (now that's one hell of a celebration).

I'm just waiting for the outrage when Brits start wishing everyone a Happy Whitsun next year *grins*

Count, I'd wish you a nice day, but, that would be making an assumption that you like nice days. So, please, have the day of your choice.................

Hehe.

Should've seen the look on an Aussie friend's face, when I said I'd be right back...just had to use the rest room. Lol.

(I'd try salt & vinegar - on my 'freedom fries?' - but I'm allergic.)

/me sends Kelly some Fannie Mae chocolates...

We eat those..They are called dill chips here..

Fanny packs i think were a 90's and early 2000's thing..lol i remember they came with just about everything you bought back when they were popular..it was like those SL freebies that you could never get rid of heheheheh

bathroom is something that was a terrible idea if you ask me..putting a toilet in the same room as the bath and shower..It gives BF's and hubbies the excuse to trap you in while they think it's ok to use the toilet while you are in the shower..why not just throw a smelly dead fish in the room instead lol

do they fry them there or are they made some other way..

i'll make fried potatoes which are in between a chip and a fry thickness but i'll sometimes make them real thin and make them like potato chips..

but apple cider vinegar goes on just about as much as i can put it on..i love it on fish batter.. :D
