A Notice About Behaviour in The Hangout??

Okay, I'm taking a deep breath here. But what is this most recent notice sent out by a certain person about behaviour in the Forum mean or imply?

I dont think I have visited the Hangout in months so I am not sure who the notice is directed to. The One Rule For Forum and One Rule for Hangout is a dangerous game to play.

But its sheer audacity was good for a larf - Geesuswept, what is this place coming to?

Read the Undying thread for the past few days if you want to know what it was directed at.
We have always had the One rule for the Hangout and in world behavior. It has worked very well for the past two years. Just like in the Highlander movies, the Hangout is holy ground. Swords are sheathed and we don't try to cut off each other's heads.

Jig, if you've not been there in months, why do you feel the need to comment on something you know nothing about?

It has always been true that "what happens in the forum stays in the forum" as far as the Cartel is concerned. It's the first thing I was told when going to the Hangout, and it still seems wise.

It keeps the peace, at least inworld.

The only connection between the Forum and the Hangout is that the same people use it. I don't get why you feel the same rules need to apply to both places. It's not like you to suggest such things.

It was in my "mail" - why not send it to the people who should be spoken to? I nearly fell over when I saw who it was from.

The only person in SL who's ever directly flamed me inworld was a poster on these forums (in the frankenbarbie thread) - though she was not a regular member here.

She's also the only conduct based AR I've filed (I file land based ARs all the time as it is simply the best way to get a Linden assigned to a land task).

It was sent to the group as a whole. Everyone who receives group notices got it. I wasn't going to go through and single out people to send it to. It is a group matter, so the group got a notice.

Just take it at face value. Nothing in world has prompted it. It is simply a re-statement of agreed upon policy.

Why even post a thread about it in the first place? Why not just ask the author of the group notice directly for clarification.

Not everything needs a thread!

I have not seen the note card yet, but I am aware of the "what happens in the Forums stays in the Forums" rule and I have been thinking about this subject a lot lately. I'm not one to seek out trouble. I won't back down from a fight either. I won't stand around and watch others be abused without saying something. If that is what I am expected to do then someone should probably go ahead and kick me out of the Cartel right now. I'm the same person here as I am inworld.

Eli, if someone is abusing another person at the Hangout, they will be removed. Consider it neutral ground.

This is such a noble and honorable trait to have.

I wish more people felt like you.

We may not always show our group role labels, but there is usually at least a Cartel "hitman" online to deal with those who abuse their Hangout privileges.

There are few rules there, and much to be gained in terms of privileges for both group members and visitors. It's really not asking too much, and certainly not audacious, for people to be nice.

I consider everywhere to be neutral ground. I don't go looking for trouble and I don't thrive on drama or hurting others. I abhor it.

Jig and other newer folks, just a historical note -- in the forums, there is a bit of etiquette that's evolved about the Hangout. In the past, there was some resentment among club owners who use the forums when folks started threads discussing Hangout construction, invitations, policies, etc.. I can see their point. After all, other social venues would I'm sure love to be able to start threads in RA about their policies and events. So, while it is appropriate to mention the Hangout in threads where folks are looking for social venues, a reminder about other mentions:

> Cartel/Hangout invitations are best kept to the undying thread, and
> Cartel/Hangout issues are best discussed in group chat or via notices.

Why? What makes the "undying thread" appropriate and other threads not?

What is "The Hangout"? Is there a secret handshake animation required?

I don't have any say about what happens here. That is for the Lindens to police.
