How long have you lived on planet earth? Have you ever been to a red light district? The street level ones usually arent very difficult to pick lol. I suggest you get out a bit more as you sound as though you may have a lived a very sheltered life so far.
Please keep in mind that I personally dont have an issue with prostitution as its the oldest profession and it serves its purpose. I also dont have an issue with looking sexy. We all like to feel sexy and attractive. In fact I dont have an issue with anyone and what they choose to do. I was simple curious as to why so many choose to look a certain way and then complain that the so called 'perverts' harrass them. Its like smearing yourself in shit and wandering why all the flies are hanging around. Its a no brainer.
After I wrote my post today I switched on the tv and oprah was on. It was a 'makeunder' special. They were taking women who are usually very OTT in the way they dress and they were doing make unders on them. The designers etc said "Theres a difference between being sexy and being OTT". I thought that summed up what I meant perfectly.

So... if someone dresses in a manner that you consider OTT then they are dressed like a prostitute?

If they dress in the same way that a street prostitute looks then I guess they look one. It has nothing to do with what I consider. If someone dresses in an elephant suit then they look like an elephant. Its that simple.

And maybe what youre saying is political correctness gone mad. Look Nobody is saying that the sheep inside the elephant is inferior. Just that if you want to dress in that way then youve got to expect that you will attract undesirables. Its not rocket science.

Of course it has to do with what you consider. It is your thread, so you must have concrete ideas as to what you believe a prostitute dresses like. Without your frame of reference, this thread has no purpose except to offend people that you personally opject to their own chosen manner of dress.

I dont know how long you been in SL but after a while you will find that Ruth Avatar gets more undesirable attention as you put it from more guys in SL than all other female avatars put together.

And just in case you missed it most of the female avatars who dress like you have observed are in keeping with just about any video that you may see playing on your Top 20 Music Videos Female Artist Hits Of The Week on your local TV station. The imagery in those videos are escapist, something that even the most immature adult can usually grasp. As do just about every tween teen you ever meet. If anyone wants to dress up like Rhianna or Madonna or Pink or whoever in SL then good on them. With ears and tails, laddered stockings and smeared lippy even.

Your OP alluded to a standard of dress in a marketing description for a griefing product. Not an anti-griefing product. There is no such product for sale in SL. Any use of a device in SL outside of combat areas where their use is specifically allowed by the landowner is griefing. That is regardless of provocation or imagined slight or who started it. LL are very clear about this as are the residents. The only anti-griefing device is Help / Report Abuse.

I just surprised that you formed an opinion based on a marketing description that entices people to grief. Or at the very least allowed a preconception that you may already have had to flourish further because of this. Is why I just havent been able to take this whole thread seriously at all. Lala, you seem to have some misconceptions.

What you call "perverts" are simply the clumsy and/or the new and inexperienced. Real perverts seldom are so obvious.

Those of us who like to dress...um, provocatively...aren't looking for the advances of a noob. We will, we realize, attract them (not everyone can make a pass as smoothly as, well, most of the guys who hang out here in the forums, for example).

So we dress to be attractive to everyone, and carry a club to fend off the unwanted ones. The good ones, we keep.

I'm thinking the OP is referring to the person who yanks the sliders as far as they'll go and slaps on a couple of design horrors that cover the bare minimum. It does look cheap and it does say "Hooker here, come and get it".

Probably not just the male newbies that let their inexperience show. It takes a while before you find the clothing shops that make the good-looking stuff and learn how to create/buy a decent shape.

I've seen many avatars who look sexy and even provocative without looking like they ought to have a lamp pole prim permanently attached to themselves. That's the sort of 'exerience' that tells the newbie "pervs" to move along and go looking for their jollies among the blingtards.
