From: someone LL can't go after him because he simply does not care. He tried to help them, and all they did was tell him he was wrong simply for finding something.
I've personally submitted patches for a specific crash attack, and it took 4 months for those 4 lines of code to be implemented in a RC viewer. It took me demonstrating the crash to a Linden, and then specifically providing him with the code to fix it by email.
It's not that he hasn't tried to work with them, it's that they don't care, they'd rather assume exploits in their system are few and far between, when that is not the case. Most of this conversation is beyond the scope of my knowledge or interest, but there is something here. Nicholaz has also voiced his frustrations in submitting fixes to LL, getting stonewalled with denials and comments like "You couldn't have fixed it because it couldn't have happened". it does seem to this luddite that they do adopt an ostrich stance at times. Whether it is from incompetence or arrogance, who knows?

From: Jesse Barnett And you are still a troll with a twisted sense of morality........................who has just been put on mute. # He isn't trolling anything here and I would not want to mute someone who could teach me or I may would end smacking my head on the desk - right in front of my computer (Just in case the someone cannot see your animated profile icon). The more I follow this threat the more I do see how much people really know what's going on here inside SL. Especially those "elite" members with years of SL experience, high level scripting skills and so on who often think they know everything but don't know nothing. I hope you see now that this Threat isn't any gossip (as you thought) nor any advertising. Do NOT attack people. Stay on topic please.

From: PattehPh0x Katsu LL responded by BANNING the individual behind Vlife simply for discovering the exploit. He has been banned 20-30 times since, and each time ends up back in SL, with his full avatar re-imported within 60 seconds. That's J then who is part of GLE. So it's the same people behind Vlife and GLE as someone posted here: http://www.kabalyero.com/2009/05/23/vlife-means-trojan-horse-virus/As I have spoken in the past with both J and Thomas not only about GPL issues that would make me pretty sad if that's indeed true but all points to this.

GLE and Vlife are two completely seperate viewers regardless of the people contributing code.
GLE is fully TOS and GPL compliant, is fully open source, and will remain so.

It wasn't a confirmation, it was exactly the opposite, they are completely seperate.
Though at the same time, the only reason GLE has crash fixes is because the creators of these crashes have explained them and produced code to fix them.
You need to stop being closed minded, and to stop making assumptions based on your very limited knowledge of what's going on.

There is a difference between "Contributing code" and "Being an author"
I've contributed code to LL's viewer, does that mean I created their viewer?

Let me draw an analogy for you.
There is this car dealer in your neighbourhood. He's around for a while, trying to sell all kind of a bit shady cars and accessories. Occasionally the police drops by. You don't care much.
From one day to the other the facade of the old workshop is painted new with a huge new brand logo above the door and right in front there is a fantastic new SUV you've never heard about. But the advertisement is amazing. It comes with all kind of super duper components and even Porsche parts. Looks really great.
Then the other day, in the backyard, there are 2 Porsche parked with sales ads on them, shiny and fresh polished. Little bit hefty on the price but they come with a tuned engine, speed radar detection, police radio, GPS and who knows what. Bit of a coincidence you read in the newspaper 2 of the same models were stolen a couple of days ago. But can't be these, the color was different.
You still think of perhaps giving the SUV a test ride. Then the police comes. And you figure out that shady dealer from the past is still the same and luckily you did not take the bait.

From: PattehPh0x Katsu I'm reluctant to demonstrate any of the more difficult features to anyone here because of the significant risk associated with ripping scripts or original objects. Because they don't exist you mean? BTW I have a secret rock that can steal scripts too. I'll sell it to you for L$50,000. But I can't demonstrate it it until after you pay.

I'm not trying to sell anyone anything.
The tool that allows scripts to be made fully permissive is NOT included in the retail version of Vlife.
Plus, as you'll note above, someone who was arguing for your camp spoke to someone they know and trust, and confirmed that scripts can be stolen.
I'm done with this thread, continue to believe whatever you like, when you find your objects and scripts full perms with your name on them out there, don't say I didn't warn you.

Back to the trust problem I guess since I don't trust Jesse or his truustable friend.

Why dont you trust them.. can you make an argument out of this statement so everybody can understand you and maybe Jesse and this friend too?

From: Sony Swords Ok guys I know some of the alternative viewers like shown in Wiki http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Alternate_viewers But what is Cyro and V-Life for. Someone told me they are private and you can get them for 32k Lindens. Does anybody know about it? Update: The new Viewer called V-Life finds every avatar "anywhere" inside SL, not only on a SIM, and you can teleport to the SIM to check out what you need. And the other functions inside this viewer are made just for griefing (Client crash /SIM crash and so on). I already see a lot of guys using the V-Life viewer. The official GreenLife viewer (listed inside Wiki), which comes with many great extra and really helpful features and good looking skins lets you see which version avatars use (Standard, GreenLife, V-Life, Cyro. etc...) in most cases, right behind the avatar name. . We use the GreenLife viewer which is the best of those you can get from the Wiki. I am using it for 3-4 weeks now and I never crash.

I don't know Jesse personally, but here in the forums she is known as a scripter who has helped a lot of people. She gives generously of both her knowledge and scripts. Jesse could be mistaken about something, but ill-intentioned ... I would have a LOT of trouble believing that. .

The exploits exist and proof was provided. That does not mean they become available to the public. Jesse is not involved in anything regarding that exploits though.

From: Argent Stonecutter On a scale of "hats" with Bruce Schnier and Marcus Ranum at the white end end, let's stick "ethical black hats" like Rain Forest Puppy in the middle, working down to black rotten fungus hats like Cantor and Seigel and other spamming scum that even rank bad hats look down on as beneath contempt... your friend is probably somewhere down in the vicinity of Bozo NYC and other "label" crackers.
