maaaaaaybe :P

Glad to see you have thicker skin then certain other people... :D I like your attitude!

/me nods approvingly as he finally gets it. :)
With the exception of some middle aged Beverly Hills Matron, you'll find no skin thicker than mine, with occasional exceptions. I like to throw it, so I expect it to come back. Next time you are really bored search for some of my posts and you'll see what I'm about.*Pretty much nothing* Plus it will spare you the wrath of Miss Cherry as well ;) (Who has a skin of equal density, it just looks nice)

In any case, I offer you a Laurel, and Hardy welcome to the playground. The wearing helmets is. optional, but encouraged.

Thanks Viktoria - now I can walk away from this train wreck of a thread, which sure started nicely but is now just turning my stomach.

Naw I have a thin skin all right ... and it's possible to REALLY hurt me. What's happening here tho is not about having a thin skin ... I am simply calling someone out and inviting them to consider their behaviour.

Failing that, to come say it to my face in world (something no one as yet has EVER had the cojones to do, of course).

***edit*** Hmmm didn't see the Pagan Witch bit. Pitying people?

What goes around comes around my dear, the seeds you sow become the crops you need to survive on. You should expect everything and be surprised by nothing, and always bear in mind that the assumptions you make about other people will blind you.

/me winks and wonders if someone will have the cojones for once.

...As for the whole solar heating theory crap, been debunked many times over. WE are causing global warming, period. the debate is over, time to get with the rest of the vast majority of those in the field of science. Only people still touting that line are those ignorant on the topic, paid and bought by big oil or the idiots (and their dwindling followers) in the white house.

But what do I know, I am just a pagan witch (Wiccan) trying to do my part in helping the planet and ALL living things on it. You sound like the type who wouldn't blink a eye to strip mine the entire planet and kill anything in your way to make a buck while blaming the damage on solar flares or some such nonsense. I pity you.

No, it has not been debunked. I despise people who play politics with science...on either side. There has been great hue and cry, yes. There are as yet no DATA to prove that human activity is the cause of global warming.

Oh...just got to your second paragraph. I see that we're talking about religious beliefs, not science, or even politics. Sorry I spoke. There's no way to debate an article of faith.

the OP had wondered about having an independant Eco-System in Sl, promising start, then the peein contest started with sprinkles of posts of those tryin to keep it on topic.

on topic:
i would not mind having some sort of animal kingdom in SL, as i stated in a post i made earlier regarding a recreation of the Serengeti.

Hey Maggie, there IS someone recreating Africa in SL. I can't remember who or when or where or how, but they've got a bunch of sims and are working on it. I don't know if they're open to the public yet. I'm not inworld so can't find it, but they started a few months ago.

Sorry, no. The overall population has (so far anyway) been LARGER at the end of any war you care to name than at its beginning.

Wars may slow us down a little, but they are not the solution to population growth.

I'm big on the Black Plague. Weren't fleas a big part of that? They're parasites, right? They'd fit right in with my latest sig theme.

This is the type of selfish, superior minded, short sighted mentality that got us where we are in the first place.
You sound like the type who wouldn't blink a eye to strip mine the entire planet ...to make a buck .... I pity you.

Just FYI, there's nothing wrong with strip mining. It's ugly temporarily, yes. Mining companies, however, are under very strict federal law to reclaim any strip mine to the state that the land was in BEFORE they started mining. Peabody Energy Inc, for example, has reclaimed the Kayenta and Lee Ranch mines (which are still producing, btw. That's why it's called "strip" mining; they do it in "strips" of land. Not "strip" as in "ravage.";) to conditions BETTER than before the mines. There is less erosion, no invasive/non-native species, and the land actually supports TWENTY TIMES the number of grazing animals as the pre-mine land did.

Next time you want to bash mining, I'd like to check your house to make sure that there are no metal objects in it and that you are completely off the grid and live from solar or wind power. Those strip mines keep you warm in the winter and run your computer, my friend. Your computer has parts that came from a mine. Your car came from a mine. The zipper on your eco-friendly hemp clothes came from a mine.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I believe it is possible to advocate looking after our planet, without delivering stern jeremiads.

If these self-annointed prophets of doom, wish us all to wear hair shirts, live in constant guilt, and recoil under the fierce glare of their puritan gaze.........ok.....but not evryone is prepared to march to the top of the hill and await the rapture.

The world is a nicer place, if we pick up after ourselves.
No statistics necessary to back up this claim.

As my friend Extropia da Silva points out........all we need to do is build our road surfaces out of nano-bots that collect a tiny fraction of the Sun's energy, and hey presto....endless energy is ours.

Coughs....

Ok .......maybe this won't happen in the next 6 months, but there may be technological solutions available to these arguable changes to our climate.

The trouble with Prohets of Doom...........a bit of a buzzkill.

No we (at least I) are(am) not. Science/facts drives my religion, not the other way around unlike the current white house. I made the point about Wicca to express I am Terra concerned and why I said some of the things I did to clarify. Being worried about the earth can be very independant of any religion. While pagans such as myself are nature worshipers, that does not blind us(me) either way to the facts and science of the issue.

And if you believe your first paragraph I'd point to the latest UN study released a month or so ago on global warming. It certainly disputes your statement, clearly.

I understood your point. I was just sort of side tracked by your strip mining comment. ;) I'm in the business and get defensive, sorry. :p

OK... back to the original topic.... lol.

There used to be an SL Ecology project out on the Terminus sim. It had these little animals that went around eating pods or something. The pods came out of these pod plants. It was quite fun to watch as the animals (reminded me of horshoe crabs) went around eating pods and fighting each other. Once I saw two of these things mating and then one laid an egg which hatched into a little animal. It's all gone now...

Perhaps then she should use emoticons to express her sarcasm if thats what shes trying to get across. Not knowing her CUTS BOTH WAYS. Just because you know her well enough to understand she she was being sarcastic does not mean I, or others, do.

And because I have strong (different) opinions then you I am a 'troll'? *rolls eyes* If you are going to fling net terms around use them properly at least.

Yeah! Look at all the trouble Johnathan Swift caused because he wasn't considerate enough to use emoticons!

on the issue of ecology *IN* SL...

I think we should have a *Kill all Stupid People Day* (something I've advocated for IRL)

how it works in SL

a Day is Set Aside, the entire grid is damage enabled, and everyone gets a weapon... anyone you think is stupid, you shoot, and if they are killed, their account gets deleted.... yay population control...

... I'll be staying home of course, although it may be worth it to make an alt and go 'fishing' under a few frozen lakes, or play target practice on a few 'stack-o-avs' in towers

I happened across a Sim on the southern contenent about Two years ago, It had Free roaming Giraffes, I Traced the creator, and found she had a few animals, But not a Huge selection Her animals moved about randomly, with legs moving,, stopped to Graze, and you could hop up on them and Ride them. :) I Imagine the scripting wouldn't be too difficult Two years later. Ask about, someone might be able to manage it for you.

Angel.
