Oh I have no problem people debating it in the right place. Talking about it and making people aware of it is fine and I most definitely encourage it. Just wasn't aware that a board for SL stuff, in the "Resident Answers" area, in a thread called "The Ecology of SL" was the right or appropriate place to discuss this. "Just saying" I suppose thats a valid point, but then one can look at it and say isn't anyplace a good place to discuss saving the planet? *shrugs* "just saying" ![]() |

"Just saying" the OP had wondered about having an independant Eco-System in Sl, promising start, then the peein contest started with sprinkles of posts of those tryin to keep it on topic. on topic: i would not mind having some sort of animal kingdom in SL, as i stated in a post i made earlier regarding a recreation of the Serengeti. _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I like the original topic as well, and especially Maelstrom's idea of a dinosaur build. That could be really well done. I don't think it would be too hard. There are plenty of animals that are scripted to wander around a set area, like crabs, fish, deer, etc... Someone could get whatever script makes them do that and stick it in a dinosaur. It could be a pretty fun place to explore if it were done right.

Who said I was trying to be funny? Then I feel very sorry for you. *shurgs* thankfully such indifference or/and ignorance on the topic is being chipped away at by recent events. |

/me sings "Happy Days Are Here Again".
If this thread is meant to be about SL Ecology then it should point at Svarga. Svarga has an SL version of an ecological system - plants, birds, insects etc all have an effect on each other. Plus anyone who hates Svarga has no soul. So it should be, technically, flameproof. |

Of course I'm not indifferent or ignorant of the issue. Keep your Pity. Do you really need emoticons to denote the sarcasm in those statements? ![]() _____________________

Also, when flinging accusations of being ignorant it helps to really know the person you're accusing very very well, so you can fling the right trollbait. This time, you were off target. |

Perhaps thats just me but I thought it was the -whole- reason/point behind emoticons. |

This time, you were off target. Perhaps then she should use emoticons to express her sarcasm if thats what shes trying to get across. Not knowing her CUTS BOTH WAYS. Just because you know her well enough to understand she she was being sarcastic does not mean I, or others, do. And because I have strong (different) opinions then you I am a 'troll'? *rolls eyes* If you are going to fling net terms around use them properly at least. |

Perhaps thats just me but I thought it was the -whole- reason/point behind emoticons. I'll grant you that, you haven't been here long enough to know that of my 7,000 or so odd posts, exactly 12 were of a serious and informative nature, so I take it for granted that flippancy is understood. That, and taking into account you are from Boston explains why the intended humor was missed...... ![]() _____________________

Oh, wars are pretty good too. Sorry, no. The overall population has (so far anyway) been LARGER at the end of any war you care to name than at its beginning. Wars may slow us down a little, but they are not the solution to population growth. _____________________

This time, you were off target. Thank You for the love. I don't think he was necessarily trolling. His point of denoting the tone is a valid one. And for the record, I don't disagree with the prevailing view on the topic in question. I just don't choose to have serious discussions about most things here._____________________

Very well said Trout!!!!!
The first sign of a weak arguement is when the participants resort to insults and personal attacks. Of course, kudos to all for some interesting Friday reading. |

On the ecology of SL. I believe there's a place on the grid where you can see a population of wild forum posters eating eachother. Survival of the fittest, and prey/predator and all. It's kind of brutal, but pretty educational.

Actually my comment re being egregious still stands. You're still being egregious. Thing is, we'll pay attention without you having to be obnoxious. Of course, if you don't want the cap to fit you should perhaps not be baiting for a response in the first place. *smiles sweetly* ***edit*** yep he is right about tone - however, in doing so, it's somewhat ironic that the tone he chose to use to flag it up was one that's already caused argument elsewhere. But what would I know? I'm just a girl. Now let's forget all our troubles with a big bowl of strawberry ice cream. |
