I offered to make the Gorean boys a ham sandwich and a cup of coffee, figuring that was fairly slave-like. Got banned from there.

Maybe they were Orthodox Goreans. Should have tried water buffalo instead of ham.

Sorry...not to be rude.....but sweet didn't work last time. Learned my lesson at about page 300 on last one....gave full acceptance and support and even urged it from others....gave benefit of doubt to page 300 or so...maybe longer.....can't bear to check....and it generally only takes 5.... Not playing the game again. You said there wasn't anything wrong with me and that I was experiencing what others did. And that's fine, but those others are generally people who're happy with it (they enjoy building or working alone) and I'm not, while this disreards the people who have (and want) other experiences. After that you just posted implicit "is this still going on?" and "see a shrink" messages telling others to stop. |

Yeah....and it's going to take 500 pages to get there.....while some of us were enjoying reading a few pages about how SL has changed...or how it's not changed.....good or bad....some interesting tidbits. Gone are the good days/info in the first 3 or 4 pages....scrap this one. I for one sincerely apologize for derailing from the original topic. Let me reply to it now. I am not sure if SL has changed or it is me. At first all the dazzling things are so miraculous. After awhile you get a bit jaded. I still find lots of surprises that bring back that miracle feeling though. When I can't find anymore then it will probably be time to leave. Personally I am glad that SL took a little break from improving technology and seemed to concentrate on making what we have work a little better. Even though my system is not top of the line, I have been moving around in world pretty good. I remember at times when they were bringing flexis on line that every little thing could make you freeze or crash. Several viewers were absolutely terrible. We would have a Wednesday release, a crappy day on Thursday, and most of Friday then if we were lucky a recall of the latest viewer by Friday late afternoon so we could enjoy the weekend. Don't get me wrong, I love the bells and whistles but I don't mind them coming at a slower pace. Another constant in SL is change. As a person who does not like change, SL has been a learning and growing experience. I only hope I take some of what I learn into the rest of my life. The changes that make me most nostalgic are the places or people that are now gone. The friends and groups that shift and change. Overall it has been a wild bumpy ride. I may get upset with things like Adult Content, rp and forum drama, or this or that little bug or snafu. If I really step back and look at it though, I am still fully invested in staying on this roller coaster and seeing what is around the next corner. |

You and I agreed to the same TOS/CS. What, exactly, do I "have" that is arbitrarily unavailable to you? (O.o) The freedom to do things that you described in your post, and the things that I listed in mine. The ability to have people, even a "crowd", happy about what you do, instead of pushing you away. |

Yumi, perhaps it's time you help yourelf out of the river. You seem to keep pushing everyone who tries to help you under.

The freedom to do things that you described in your post, and the things that I listed in mine. The ability to have people, even a "crowd", happy about what you do, instead of pushing you away. I’m currently in an emotional upswing. I’ve leveled things with a few friends recently. I’ve been spending my time more productively socializing and involving myself with people and activities. And, I’ve been making the messes I spoke of earlier. (^_^) But, if you asked me just a couple months ago, I would have sounded exactly like you. It was something I was doing to myself. And the responses I was getting were very familiar to what you’re seeing going on in this thread. Just as you are now, I was horribly unreceptive to them. It was getting to the point where people who cared most about me were actually refusing to respond to me because all I had to offer was gloom. (>_< ![]() I was jealous, bitter, and panicky. I was posting threads here asking about thoughts of friendship. I was struggling to find an answer that’s been under my nose the whole time. (T_T) I was rejected, in my own mind. I was unwelcome, in my own mind. I was being pushed away, in my own mind. And, for the longest time, there was no room for anyone to contradict me.... In my own mind! (=_=) In your posts, today, I’m hearing myself three months ago. It wasn’t a pretty picture. I’m still not completely over it. In fact, I’m saying that in my profile lately... Trying to get over it. Also, trying to figure out what "it" was to begin with. Does one negate the other? I'm finding out the hard way. You CAN do this. But, it’s up to you to first convince yourself to reject the situation you’re putting yourself through. I don’t know the ‘golden star’ solution to this. Like I said, I’m still in the midst of it. But, believe me, it’s there. (^_^) _____________________

Meeting someone and getting invited to go shopping with them and they bought you an outfit. Where have all those men gone? Maybe that contributed to my decision on SL Men ... they aren't like they were 3 years ago. Hey, I've done that before.....there are some of us still around....and I wasn't even around three years ago. _____________________

Hey - overlooking the countless pages after the SL is changing stuff- I just want to say i think it's really cool that within the last few days I have noticed a lot of older Residents coming in and posting. Glad to see that even though there are people that gripe and complain about how bad SL is, there are others that have stuck it out. I have been here four years already and do not foresee me going anywhere. My experience grows, changes improves everyday. Yeah sometimes it gets dull but hell so does RL.
Immy, I would have loved to see the Getoverit Bridge ._____________________

Right, but why should you be the one who writes the premise that others have to accept, or be left out? Because when it comes right down to it, I can only control myself. The rest is up to themselves. Whether I try to help or hinder, it is up to them how they take it. *huggles* |

Because when it comes right down to it, I can only control myself. The rest is up to themselves. Whether I try to help or hinder, it is up to them how they take it. Believing that you can't control others is good for deciding what to do. But you can't assume that, by taking strong actions that might define a situation, you haven't had controlling influence on one or more people there. Certainly I've been controlled in such situations before (although not with you). And Immy, I'm sorry to hear you were being rejected.. but you did also get a lot more positive feedback prior to that. I mean, I remember all the fun things you used to do around NCI. |
