I'll be high alright as soon as i get my hands on some ganja. I could really use it to settle my Flu-Foo'd stomach.

Me, too.

All we can do is our best, Briana. All we can do is our best.

ROFL, possibly Pip. :D

Where has Pep been lately??
Well, I won my bet and it was early, too - last week I posted (don't remember the context) that if a stopped posting Sunday someone would have said "Where's Pep?" before Friday, and it only took two days, until Tuesday! :D

As should be obvious, the OP isn't me, as I don't feel the need to use alts to express what others might consider to be sexist opinions, but what I perceive as experienced based, true life accurate and insightful observations about gender-associated behaviour.

I'll throw in that occasionally it does feel as if one of the targets of the OP's comments is posting to every thread available for the sake of it, without adding particularly to the thread, but I would offer that opinion of most participants here; when she actually does have something to say she is usually interesting and insightful - and any concerns I had about her being a bit "neutral" were dispelled by her recent catfight in one of the threads. Go girl!

Also, there are any number of times when I have felt like posting "tl;dr" in response to the other lady singled out by the OP. She is not the only one in that respect, but the others who drone on in an activist/monomaniacal manner are usually male or "kids". It's funny that she is perceived as feminist whereas the latter are just boring.

To summarise, I feel that the gender-associated criticisms of these two are a little unfair; it seems to me that there are a significant number of other posters who would be better off, not so much attending to domestic chores, as giving attention to their rl partners rather than spending time here. Or are you going to argue that by the time anyone becomes a regular poster here their priorities have already become fixed?

Pep (Most forum participants would do better to spend time reading than posting. :p )

PS In case you are wondering where I have been over the last couple of days, there was this Brazilian girl who turned up on my doorstep wanting a bed, and of course I am charitable in such cases . . .

Maybe it's because those singled out were nasty to the OP... you're nasty to everyone! :p

FWIW, I didn't think the OP was an alt of yours. First person who came to mind, in fact, was someone I was disagreeing with in another thread. Scylla was also in that same thread (and disagreeing on some of the same things I was), which was the main active one at the time, and which (to me) lends credence to my first instinct. Scylla and I were quickly both targeted in the useless thread in question. But, it could be anybody.

To me, the main thing is that the person chose to manufacture an alt to hide behind. Or at least, post for the first time here as the alt. That tells me they felt strongly about it but were also wishing to protect a probably 'affable seeming' main in so doing.

At least if I have a problem with something someone has posted, they know it. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up to others to decide (that is, if they care either way.)

You do make a fair amount of quips that are gender-based, maybe even gender-biased. But I don't really see you just insult people for the mere point of insulting them. Or if you do, perhaps you're simply better at it.

Also, your posts do have substance, or at the least, style. The OP in question had neither. It was simply an attempt to troll/attack.

Yes I am a bit guilty of that today. I needed some distraction. I didn't quite count on someone taking SUCH issue with it as the OP did. As you pointed out above, I am hardly the only one who does so, today or any other day.

Thanks for the latter part of the statement. On both points.

Thank you. As for the RL stuff it's very hard to quantify. Speculation, really. Maybe accurate, but still speculation.

And fwiw I agree with your points about grammar to those who should know better. Why is it those who tend to troll usually cannot spell? "your/you're," especially.

(This wasn't meant as an example of the above.) I disagree with both points, Ee. Neither Scylla nor I were "nasty" to anyone before that thread, in Tuesday's discussions; I haven't seen Scylla be "nasty" to anyone, actually. I also disagree with your judgment of Briana.

Why *have* the forums been so judgmental and cranky lately, I wonder?

Just yesterday I was whinging about laundry and hanging winter curtains and birtching how lucky Pep was to have a wife to do all his mundane nonsense.

Given how the rest of the conversation went it is hilarious timing on the OP's part if it isn't Pep :p

edited to add: actually, just glancing over OP, I don't see Pep saying, "bugs the hell out of me'. Scratch Pep off the list.

Yeah - I've told my wife I'm happy to do the laundry if she can fix it so that I don't spend 15 hours a week in my car commuting, which bugs the hell out of me . . . ;)

Pep ( . . . so that I can get to my job which pays twice as much as hers does. )

Just looked up "Hallie Halsey" in world. Born Sept. 8, 2009. Blank profile.

Gave the OP entirely too much legitimacy by stooping to respond. I hope to know better next time.

Is that how the rest of it went? :p

/me waves a plate of lovely aged gruyere beneath Pep's nose and whispers, "be calm, be calm."

and off I go to muse about the days where I had to commute 15 hours a week and still do the laundry...before I wised up and ditched the car....

Yet you did.. And now you apparently are thinking your seeing hallie in a couple other topics that clearly have nothing to do with any Hallie. LOL. I personally think the OP has definitely done their part to get under your skin or perhaps has a little legitimacy to her claims. Either way I wouldn't let it bother you. The only thing you've ended up doing is give the OP any power or attention they were going for.

Wow, what a letdown!

At least I was nominated.

Scylla and Clarissa? It's an undeserved swipe at both.

I'd say they're cute and funny and helpful. They both put themselves out for other people, perfect strangers.

About Clarissa in particular, it's ironic when someone so nice gets taken as a bad guy. It's always a puzzle to me when someone comes down on her, as has happened in several recent threads.

Scylla does usually speak up for women's rights, but I think she tries to not overdo it and to have a sense of humor about it. Also, most of her posts in that vein are responses to questions and challenges.

Anyway, a big hug to you both.

Thanks Seven. Much appreciated.

I've neglected to say it so far, for no real reason other than being distracted (got my wish, I guess, at least) but I feel honored to be 'lumped in with' Scylla. I find she has a lot of information at her fingertips, is compassionate, and debates with a sense of fairness even during those times some have lashed out at her.

Texan - again, dude, I was joking! Sorry for being a bit cranky, though.

Ohhhhh! THANK you, Clarissa! This is really sweet! And the feeling is entirely mutual!! :)

To Seven, and Bri, and Kylie, and Ben, and others who have been supportive and said nice things over the course of a thread that has not (I confess) exactly left me traumatized, thank you, and hugs!

And to Pep:

(Warning: tl;dr coming!)

Guess this trolling isn't as easy as it looks......

EDIT: Oh... and Scylla too before I get accused of implying otherwise by not including her :p

You do get shot at by Pep regularly. Doesn't that count?

What I love about this thread is that most of us wanted to be one of those two women.

It's a badge of honor to get sniped at like that.
