a lot of the fear would be gone if LL would do an investigation on any claim rather than ban first and wait for someone to figure out how to contact them..

from what i hear everyone is worried about false claims from teens..
if a teen makes a claim on someone..LL needs to make sure they do their job and follow up on it with a fair approach not this first come first serve ban the other party to get it out of my hair routine..

i don't think they should be banning from voice claims either..in fact they should have it where adults are on one channel and teens are on another..

there is no way to prove or disprove a voice claim..
that or you have to be an adult to even be using voice..

i hope all this work they are doing is not just looking at how to protect the kids but also fairly do the same for all..

because if LL does write off false claims as ..ok the kid has to be right and that person claimed against ends up in court...you can subpoena anyone involved and LL would be well involved because they have records of the incident.

i am just hoping they are working on both teen and adult having a fair chance to speak in those situations..

i know a lot of great mature teens in rl and on the net from other games and i do think they can contribute in content and to SL..

but LL is the only one that is in the position to remove the tension and fear..
It would be a big step i think in the way everyone looked at them if they could pull it off..
because a lot think they just don't care...which they may not or they may..
it would be nice to see they do care is all i am saying..

I don't think it's just about teenagers making false claims or entraping adult players, which are very real possibilities, I admit. I don't doubt the average devious little schmuck would get a real kick out of that 'game'.

It's more that teenagers are, by and large, a big pain in the ass that only their parents could love.

Also, it occurred to me on more than one occasion that SL is far too much of a distraction for a developing mind: they really ought to be cramming for exams or some sh!t like that. And I'm only half-joking here. Thank heaven I didn't have SL when I was at college. I wouldn't have opened a book for love nor money.

All the talk of the Teen Scarelett Letter from adult user's prospective misses an important issue. It's going to be a target for pedophiles. Put children on the main grid, then mark them so sexual predators know exactly who to go after. Good idea. Let me know how that works out.

this is why i am hoping it will be the teens that want to be here..not a bunch of griefers and smartmouths..if we end up with the majority using sl for things like learning and creating..i think we will see a lot of neat things introduced..

there are a lot of really smart and mature teens out there with great imaginations..I don't think people have a problem with teens showing up that will contribute and respect and use sl to tap into their minds to expand..

it's the adults and teens that may show up that are not going to respect others on a bigger scale of numbers than we already have here now...I am just hoping it won't be a bunch of bored kids looking to see what they can get away with or a bunch of pedo's thinking it's free pickings..

on a side note..one thing that would be a nice addition would be something that tells the location of a conversation ..maybe something like add a mature or pg to the chat time stamp or sim name..something to show if you were in a mature or pg area..

Well, that's an important point. All other commentary on other issues aside, it's one of the reasons I am all for an end to unverified accounts, and have been for months. No one should be on the grid without having a real name and some sort of identification applied to their account, so that if something like this does happen - or anything else, from griefing to fraud - LL knows exactly who they are dealing with and, if deemed necessary, who to give information about to law enforcement.

I'm very sure LL can track what sim (server) you are chatting from at any given time, even if another resident cannot.

that's kind of a relief if they can..i would still like to see it incase someone were to im me accusing me of something from the past and...........lol omg listen to me ..i am acting like i go chasing teens around and am getting my alibi setup already hahahaha

Youngest kid I have known FOR CERTAIN was on the adult grid was a ten year old girl. This was about three years back, after they dropped the ID requirements and opened the floodgates to completely free and unverified accounts. She was a member of a family my family met often in RL. I found out because she was bragging about it to _my_ ten year old daughter. I immediately told the girl's parents, and they called LL and had them cancel the lying little girl's account, and then her parents barred the kid from Internet access for six months. They didn't know she had been on SL, because the little twit had been getting up during the night, while the rest of the family was asleep, and playing in SL.

my version of your scenario didn't involve any actual underage person, only the depiction, (picture, prim art, notecard, etc). so even today you have no legal legs... in fact with a real teen you'd have a built in question of 'witness reliablity' working for you in most places

I;ve met a 10yo, but she was with her mothers avatar and they just wanted to ride bikes along all the roads on the old continent, and I have no problem with that under parent supervision. I suspect those sort of people will eventually be catered for in SL in coming years somehow, these changes maybe very necessary for the groundwork of that. There may be no plans to merge the grids, but there are ideas floating around.

I have also met many teens on the loose alone, some seemed to have their head screwed on so I let them be, others desrved the AR they got.

There are many areas of SL so unless you do a lot of exploring regularly and are involved with diverse circles, you could very well be under the impression there aren't many teens on the grid.
