I have asked several people what their favorite thing in SL is to do, and the answers always vary; Other than looking for romance, many tell me they love to EXPLORE. (not to mention shopping or clubbing)... I have heard things like snow skiing, skydiving, scuba diving, visiting forests, hiking mountain retreats, grottos, museums, awesome beaches and unusual architecture.

So what are some of your favorite places you have you EXPLORED, and where can everyone find them?

I'll start with mine... (Landmark coordinates will be added HERE once I get home from work and go in world to retrieve it)
Greenie’s World, a fanciful larger than life sculpture that made me feel as small as an insect. It’s a labor of love... this sculpture, with uncanny realism... Arriving there, I was intrigued by started out in a crawlspace beneath the house. I actually thought I was in a maze-like cave. There were arrows giving me clues of how to escape the maze below the house, I crawled out and found a door. I entered the door to the house thinking it was a normal sized house... boy was I ever wrong! I felt as though stepping into the wonderland that Alice entered, stunned by the immenseness inside! Understanding who Greenie is will help us to appreciate his POV. Greenie is a very small green alien with a tiny flying saucer. In one corner we find him cornered by the family cat, poised, ready to pounce at any moment upon the mouse sized Greenie. Near the middle of the room we see Greenie in his saucer making a flying leap over a mouse trap, barely escaping its jaws snapping shut. As I walked by this sculpture, I had to look up to take it all in. HUGE is a small word for the size of Greenie’s World, its well worth the visit!

OK, now it’s your turn... let's hear about where you have EXPLORED (not shopping or clubbing)...

Greenies : this is old news though, and you don't have to go there all the time...once or twice, and you've got the jist.

Nexus Prime : a fantastic cyber-punk society and city based on the P.K.Dick book 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep', and the movie that spawned from it, 'Blade Runner.' The detail and size of Nexus Prime is astonishing.

Svarga: probably the most wonderful vegetative area in SL. Wonderful foliage and architecture combined.

NASA: if you're a space geek at all...you really should check out NASA (and if it's out yet, the MARS EXHIBIT.)

Star Trek Museum: again...if you're a geek...this is a must see.

Those are a few good ones. Personally, I stay far away from high traffic areas, clubs, or anywhere with extensive camping. There are some amazing places out there...have a look around.

Oh, and what's that one where you walk along a skinny path in hell...and there are amazing sculptie statues and stuff all around? Super cool...

The greenies were cool. I like the one laying on the kitchen table listening to and watching an Ipod.

Does anyone have the Landmark or coordinates for Alcyon Space Yards? I have done searches and perhaps it is misspelled or gone missing.

Thanks,
"G"

Just to note once again, I'll include any places mentioned in this thread that aren't on the lists Lexxi and I posted above in my compiled version.

Oh and I'll be asking everyone who is willing to help categorise the full list once I've got it done. Otherwise it's going to be far too messy, I reckon.

What we do with it next is anyone's guess :D

It would take months  but it would be fun :D

Actually I meant more in terms of adding it to the new resident info kit or a sticky or something, because it's likely to be a bit long for regular posting in these kinds of threads :o

Oh yes, there will have to be a separate category for seasonal places I guess.
Also thinking of adding some music venues.

Thanks for reminding me of the Crooked House, I meant to show it to some friends, and kept getting sidetracked. I also loved the Futurama style transport tubes in the rest of the sim.

Yep that's Black Swan, very cool place. We were there when another couple of people were exploring as well. We couldn't figure how they managed to navigate the path withouth flying and they weren't saying. :D

You probably meant the one that other person mentioned, but there is also a path through hell in Crimson Shadow:

And Rezzable Hallucinogen has a neat path out on an island that has lots of neat statues around.

Note: I am on the statue hand.

I have a blog, I have lots of pictures, I wish I had the patience to do write ups :) Roughly 10 months inside of SL with lots and lots and lots of exploring and pictures, and a lost opportunity. Oh well.

Neat looking blog, after the quick glance I gave to the blog. And I also like her hair.

Hehe. I've made clothes (I should have put up the picture where I'm wearing her Figure Skater dress to make this particular comment, oh well), I've taken pictures and put out a blog, but she really knows how to do it right :) hehe. Back to randomly flinging my pictures at Flickr, not using my blog, and pretending I have never made anything and never will. hehe.
