Hi guys,

I am looking for ideas for what makes an awesome build, I mean, a truly AWESOME build.

Anyone got any recommendations to fire my imagination?

TIA

You have GOT to see the following:

1. Hoini: The 1001 Arabian Nights themed sim, and the Egyptian Palace, Anubia, on the lagoon, the most amazing build I have ever seen in sl.

2. Temple of Apollo: Staggering

3. Suffugeum: The most sinister deserted sim in SL.

My 2 cents

For the Aviation/Space enthusiast:
Abbott's Aerodrome
Staflett HQ at Galaxy
The International Spaceflight Museum.

I also like Dublin, and Little Philadelphia

The latest version of Port Seraphine. Easily one of the best builds I've seen all year.

Isle of Wyrms

Cory Edo's sim is looking pretty spectacular right now, in a more subtle way:

Funny, that's exactly how God describes our galaxy to His poker buddies.

Check out the Avaria sims, home of Grendal's Children. My husband, the architecture nut, took a busload of photos there.

Inspire Space Park is awesome. I think it's changed since I was there, but I hear it is still an awesome build.

If you're not easily offended, go to the Labyrinth in Hell. I'm not sure of the exact name, but if you go to the Search menu, Places tab, and use keyword "maze" it should pop right up. Amazing, amazing job of texturing.

Oh, and spend some time walking through the Movix Media sim. Awesome not in an "amazing flights of fancy" way, but in an "attention to detail and realism" way.

I'm sure there are bazillions I'm missing, but those are a great start.

My top 2 are still:

Damania - futuristic, serene village on 2 sim island - all swoopy, curly in white marble, gold and frosted glass. It is an amazing feat of creativity.

Dresden Gallery - a recreation of the real thing, in Germany. I think this is the most ambitious build I've seen.

Also Virtual Amsterdam was awesome - not sure if it still exists. Virtual Dublin is good too.

Here's a few I really like:

- Svarga
- Lost Gardens of Apollo
- SL Botanical Gardens
- Venezia (a parody of Venice)
- Alpine Executive Center (a ski resort)
- Wolf Mountain (a mountain resort)
- SS Galaxy (a cruise ship like no other cruise ship)

plus a place called "Creative Fantasy" is worth checking out. Technically it is a commercial business where you buy houses, garden supplies and all that sort of stuff. But you would never know it if you didn't click the objects on the island and select "Buy". It's worth checking out.

There is a free box full of landmarks, at my store in Shona, to the best places I have seen in the last almost 3 years in SL.

To the above, I'd add a few more sims: Tusk, Crimson Shadow Rezzable, and The Abyss. All amazing builds, dark and moody in different ways. There's also a sim nearby Crimson Shadow Rezzable which I can't recall the name of at the moment-- it showcases all of Madcow Cosmos' skeleton sculptures. Also well worth seeing.

I am inspired by:

Endless Destruction for seeing what simple prims can do...

Greenies

Abyss 2

Botantical Gardens

Serenity Gardens (amazing Tree houses and magical feel)

The IBM sims for a variety of architectural styles all beautifully done.

There are more but I'm cutting down on caffeine and therefore can't think at the moment!

So much beauty, so little time!

I would like to publicly thank those who mentioned Hoini in this list, and all the people who have visited over the last few days and the nice things they have said about Hoini and Anubia.

It is a great encouragement to those who build to know that others enjoy their work.

The two architects who provided most of the source material for Hoini are ArchTX Edo, and Jacke Belvedere and credit must go to them for their amazing textures and designs.

Thanks Again,

Rock Ryder

ALL of the Rezzable sims...I'm particularly in love with the Carnival of Doom on the Ebuddy Rezzable sim right now.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
