The SS Galaxy is pretty cool, it's a life sized cruise ship. I think it was 3 sims in size? Looks really nice.

Kasteel Verloren, in, well, Verloren... it's old, but it's still impressive to see what someone can do w/o sculpties flexis or mega prims
endless destruction isn't a bad industrial build (has a nice swamp too), as long as you avoid the hideous new mall on the south side

From: Truth Tracer and those caves with the underwater world, can't remember the name now (ok, so I gave 4 places).
Rua - absolutely beautiful - Not just the underwater caves, but there's a giant tree nearby that makes for an awesome afternoon of exploring. Check out the homes sold by Effulgent Brown as well. The display area where she shows off her homes is beautifully decorated, and well worth the time even if you're not buying a home.

I recently visited "The Wasteland" which somebody posted about in another thread. It had a few patchy builds but across the four sims that make it up it has some superb buildings and everything has been done very well to create the overall desolate feel of the whole place.
I'm also still a big fan of Furnation, though it's still laggy as ever the main Furnation sims have some excellent builds on them.

I've made my usual mistake of starting to read this thread and making mental notes of all these places I should visit.
Now at page 3 my brain has started to lag and I can look around my office but can't seem to move. Shorlty I will crash and have to reset myself.
Then in a few hours I will spot the thread again and think "Great, new places to visit" and the process will begin again!
I really must learn to try and focus on just a few things to do at a time!

Lots of great SL places mentioned - I would add Scotland, Wales and Virtual Bruges to the list

From: Sally Silvera /me sends Sandy pen and notebook It's funny you should say that, my house, jacket pockets and various other drawers are all littered with little bits of paper with SL place names scribbled on them! When I'm at work I'll read about some great place on the forum and write it on a bit of paper and stick it in my jeans pocket. Then I'll get home and find it and put it in a drawer with the others. Then I log into Second Life and get whisked off into something else and the bit of paper nevers sees the light of day again. I don't think I've said it yet today - Isn't Second Life BRILLIANT??

When I get home I access my e-mails and either print them and put them next to my comp or i mark them into my SL folder. When I get online I will dig out the e-mail or grab the print-out and get exploring.

Claire, if I'd found myself an SL hat yet - I would take it off to you.

SL is down so I cannot give any LMs! My fav sims that weren't mentioned:
Svarga Greenies Home Rezzable Paris 1900 The wastelands Dublin
The sistine chapel and the Cologne cathedral are also great, but I don't know the addresses.
If you like dark RP check missing mile, Toxian City or Falonhall (please don't hit me now LOL, but the sim is really good).

* Svarga * Hollywood * Nexus Prime * Greenies * Transformers * Die Hard 4
There much more impressive ones out there, but their names slip me--you'll find many diamonds in the rough; massive, detailed architechture, professional concepts, remakes...there are dozens of high quality builds.
[edit: Monolisa...we either share in common tastes, or our picks are predictable.]

Avilion. If you go to the Grove, check out the gardens around the ball room and the caves under the waterfalls. Then head west over the drawbridge and go to the Drum Circle. You never know who or what will be there. Then go west again to the big castle. If you step through the mirror in front, you can visit the crystal caves. Have fun.

I really like a place called Secret Reflections.
I'd give a SLURL but I can't get my friggin' map to load...
I also recommend joining a group called The Best of Second Life, they send out daily LMs to cool places and that's how I've discovered a few cool areas.

Claire, if I'd found myself an SL hat yet - I would take it off to you. aww thanks Sandy although it has to be said that it is the only place I am actually organised. My inventory is a mess! I need to go through it and sort it out, I have my outfit folders but that is it! I'll sit down to sort it out and then I'll hear about a great place and zoom off to go see and forget totally about my inventory lol. Has anyone been to Toxic Garden? I've heard its pretty cool. It's made by the creators of the Greenies Home Sim, you have to try to stay alive in a poison garden lol. I thought it sounded good.

I thought it sounded good. I tried it out yesterday or the day before. I've been checking out the places listed here and other recommendations. It had an interesting look to it, but I can't say too much cause I was killed pretty early and sent home. I was too tired at that point to go back but hope to make it back soon.
