Bots are secondary to the issue of Phil being a hypocrite. He could be using any underhanded business practice and would still be a hypocrite for his posts in this thread.

I think you missed it all, Chris. I didn't attack anyone. I said that she got what she deserved. That's not an attack. I said words to the effect that public profanity is a bad thing. That's not attacking anyone either.

As for false - I do suggest you taking a course on reality

You are aware that no two lindens think alike on some issues: right?

One linden could ban you for the simplest thing, another might remove the ban/suspension ... and still another might look at the events, overturn the second linden and summarily DELETE your account.

Personally, if I had an Alt myself, I'd have NO problem at all using it to post some things. See, there's this little issue of people taking things so seriously on a MESSAGE BOARD that they decide that they are going to have it spill in world.

I'd rather use a damn Alt than have to deal with someone who can't keep incidents on the MB to the MB.

That's why as a business they have their heads up their ass. If there is no clear policy and chain of command, it becomes a clusterF.

Most Customer Service Reps would be expecting far worse than that in most companies. Then again I live in the really real world where if you provide a crap service to customers and treat them with contempt then they repay you by walking.

All it needs is a truly credible alternative and people will be happy to bail.

Random observations:

- arguments are valid or not, regardless of the source. Whether you choose to listen to them is entirely up to you. If not, you risk losing a valuable perspective

- gaming the traffic system is nothing more than directed advertising. Everyone is equally free to do it, and many do. You put yourself at a disadvantage if you decide not to. Lucky chairs, contests, parties, are all other ways to do the same thing. But they too game the system.

- insults and name calling rarely wins arguments. They just make the one doing the insult look poor.

- Sarah, can you honestly be surprised that a Linden suspended you? You have stated in the past that you avoid the official forums because you know you can be banned in-world for something you could write. Yet you are shocked when they suspended you on the concierge group chat. You have responsibilities which require you to be in-world, so you should treat all of your communications in the Linden realm the same way, or you jeopardize those responsibilities. Argue that it's right or wrong. It doesn't matter. Stick with the reality of the situation, not the ideal.

- profanity has it's place. If used well, it's very effective. Sarah's use was indeed effective. Not at the time, but after the fact. Thanks to the posts and blog entry.

- Sarah is a godsend in SL. Her freebie store was one of the first places I found in SL. I am grateful to you Sarah for having a great sense of community.

I'm surprised, and it wasn't even done to me. Since Sarah wasn't the only one doing it, I think a more appropriate response would have been for the Linden to speak up in chat and say something like, "Some of the language I'm seeing here isn't appropriate for Concierge chat. I understand you're upset, but I need to remind you that all official Linden Lab and Second Life channels should be treated as PG venues."

I can't be copulated to read the whole thing, but yes, English is a richly woven tapestry of a tongue. But part of that richness comes from "profane" words that can convey all manner of emotion. And I think most people who aren't either elitists or simpletons can see that the price hike is barely justifyable, and certainly unethical.

I only have a modest abode on a small parcel on an Open Space sim, and even so I'm getting bent over and roughly taken when I thought I was headed for a quiet night with a bottle of wine and a movie. This price rise will mean me having to reloacte my home, hopefully with the same estate manager as unlike LL, she understands the concept of fairness and customer service as customers are people, and also happy people are loyal, paying people. She's having to try and alter her business model quite rapidly to keep things going decently, and whereas I only stand to lose somewhere to dump the contents of my inventory and get a little privacy, she could lose a hell of a lot more as it's an income for her.

I have a few friends who like to head to mine as they have been sensible enough to not invest anything into SL, how pleased will they be if I cannot afford to keep my house? So from the top (estate owners/ managers) to the bottom (free users wearing freebies and depending on free places) people are going to get screwed over by this. Sarah seems to be at the upper level of that chain and so will be screwed over more harshly in rl time/ money invested terms. So surely she has a right to be upset. And if upset, surely she has the right to use emotive language to demonstrate her feelings on the matter.

Maybe she should have self censored, but there's more distressing things in the universe than a public f***.
