Yes i did deal with Master Quatro, as Anshe was away on a buisness trip. And yes he did spend hours being helpful to me, yes I did compliment him on how nice he had been to me.

But what Master Quatro didn't say in his post was that just before Anshe returned to SL I went to him with doubts, saying I was not sure about buying the island after having heard a few rumours regarding Anshe and the way she conducts her buisness in SL.

He set my mind to rest, explaining that I was doing the right thing in continuing to purchase the land, that I should ignore any rumours, because many in SL are jealous of Anshe simply because she is a woman and also an asian woman who has made a success of her business in SL. He told me all those rumours started through jealousy from others at the way Anshe succesfully makes money, and that she is a really nice person who does all she can to make her clients happy in any way she can...

Well Quatro if that's how you define Anshe arriving grunting a few words to you and practically ignoring me, then going on to leave what I still then believed to be my island without deeding it to me (oh yes, I didn't understand what "deeding" was all about at that time)...

I had to shout loudly at her to remind her that she hadn't made it possible for me to build on the land yet ! She muttered something, I'm not sure what, as I find Anshe's mutterings hard to understand (and that's when she bothers to mutter anything at all). She finally did what was necessary to make it possible for me to build on the land...

Quatro, I didn't find Anshe to be a nice asian woman with much understanding or sympathy for others as you had told me, when I came to you with all the rumours I had heard... You did all you could to make me disbelieve those rumours, you did not offer to give me my money back so i could maybe have time to think, you kept tight hold of it while saying how I was "making the right choice", and telling me how happy I would be "owning such a beautiful island"...

So it seems by using the word 'owning' when you were (and still are) fully aware I would never own the land, that was lying.

Oh and, while all this was going on, why didn't you give me one of Anshe's notecard ??? Was it simply because you wanted an extra big pat on the back from Anshe for getting that one extra sale from me ?????? And yes I have taken you off my friends list, since, to me, a friend is someone who helps, if only at least being truthful and not blinding the truth just so his boss makes what to her is a few meager dollars...

But just remember what to Anshe are just a few dollars is to many of us a lot of dollars, that took a lot of hard work and sweat to buy. And we don't want to waste them but to get something viable for our lindens.

I take this opportunity to thank you Quatro for masking the truth from me, for not helping me to get out as I would never own the island, which you took great length to make me beliive I would... So yes you did spend many hours with me, but many hours of simply making sure Anshe got my 60k

I don't know how you sleep at night. Neither do I know how Anshe sleeps at night, but then I guess curling up in bed with all those dollars makes you feel all warm & fuzzy inside.

Sad, very sad to say the least.

Formatted.

We come into this world (our first life) without any personal wealth or possessions. In the time we are alive we amass sometimes great fortunes sometimes just great debt. Let's assume we have "bought" many material possessions including a lot of land in Peoria. We suddenly die! The wealth is gone. Unless we "pass" it on to someone else the State takes it. So the question for today boys and girls is: Did we really "buy" and "own" or were we renting that lot in Peoria? All in life is temporary .. including life itself ..

I suggest that is a deeper question to ponder then wether land is bought, rented or sold in second life.

This thread is so amusing .. when there are people dying from homelessness and hunger from natural disasters and unjust wars .. here you all are debating weather Anshe Chung sells or rents land. This woman gave more to the relief effort from the ravages of Katrina then anyone I know on second life. She auctioned herself off, gave prizes, money to help people in a country other then her own. How many of you could match her generosity and compassion.

That's how I measure a person's worth.

Kismet, did you try to make a world record in producing a long sentence?

I got the impression you wanted out as fast as possible, no matter what it costed you, because you had heard some rumours?

Was something wrong with the land?
Did you try to sell it ?
Did you even try to clearify the rumours you had heard; if it was BS or true?

The terminology in SL "buy" and "own" are confusing yes. Basically we do not own anything, lindenlab ( ebay whoever) owns everything. Try to join 16sqm of land on maingrid and it tells you not enough deeded land, yet they say we buy it (own it), not that the land has been deeded to us.

I find it somehow disturbing that as soon as AC gets flamed for something, other landbarons jump in as saving angels, although they do the exact same thing as Anshe; rent sell land. Double moral and hipocrisy.....

And yes, I did not bother reading throug the entire thread where everyone and his cousin knows things best; just need to look at one thread to know what is in this one

I think this whole thread and discussion here lead nowhere. Lets take this to IM if you really interested to get one honest answer to this question. I don't want post something here that could be misinterpreted as one attack.

I suggest you buy land on the mainland. Maybe Linden Lab will ship you one server that you can put under your desk.

What is the point !!!
10-21-2005 12:22
I bought land from Anshe !!!
I tried to seel the land once i found i could have the land taken back from me becasue of Anshe`s Rules!!!
I couldnt sell the land because ppl knew of Anshe`s reputation hence didnt want it!!!
I took a loss of 30K because the peace & harmony I found on the land had gone!!!

The reason i made my original post here was not to start a personal attack on either Anshe or anyone else...

I just wanted others to know what happened to me so that they could be aware of what can happen...

At that point i did not know Anshe`s reputation in SL was as bad as it is...Maybe if i had of done then i possibly would not have posted...

The point to this post is Anshe will never give me the 30K to her i`m just another faceless person she has made money from...

I`m sure i`m not the only one...

I thank ALL who have posted here

P.S.
Anshe this was never meant to be a personal attack on or to you

AS i`ve already said i just wanted others to be aware of how you conduct your buisness in SL

It seems you have no concions regarding money matters...well thats fine but know i intend to make up a notecard with all the FACTS as they happened on it...& will be giving it to all newbies i meet in SL so they can become aware & maybe not get trapped as i did!!!

I'm sorry Finn, but there's no hipocrisy. The up front fee for renting on a private island is silly when others don't require it. What is also silly is not making people fully aware. Now that I rent in a real rental on a Private Sim, the up front fee I paid Anshe and then lost half of when I decided to leave, seem so ridiculous.

I understand why some "renters" in Dreamland are defending it so vehemently, I did the same thing, it's to protect their investment. But when you can get the same product, at the same level of usage, makes no sense. If it was an investment that was guaranteed to increase, that would be different. You're better off spending your Lindens instead of planting it in a piece of land.

Will you also flame Linden Lab now? They "rent" land on mainland, sometimes they collected more than 20 L$ per sqm "upfront fee". Some people released their land or canceled their account and got 0 L$ back.

Are thousands of people who "own" land in mainland sims stupid? Are more than 300 "land owner" in Dreamland dumb?

This is one free market. Different business offer different products. Sometimes somebody buys, then 5 months later finds another product that he/she likes more. In free market people vote with the wallet.

You are free to make your choices or give your recommendations. You are also free to discuss rental of land vs buying of land in SL. But insulting people in Dreamland the way you just did is not called for. Only because you, as you just said, "defended Dreamland so vehemently" in order to "protect your investment", does not mean that everybody else in Dreamland share the same kind of thinking.

Simply put;

LL owns all the land, anyone can purchase a sim from LL (if they have the us$)
PPl like anshe and hiro buy those sims then rent them out.

Here is where the rules are clear;

If you buy land from LL or another player on the mainland you own that land. You may sell it immediatly if you choose to.

If you buy land off the main grid, you are leasing or renting the land from another player.

To say someone owns land off the main grid is not entirly true. The person who bought the island to begin with always retains the rights to resell it.

Thats not to say that resellers/landlords are wrong because they are not. They save the average consumer the initial buy price of the islands and pass the savings along to the consumer. Since the tier prices are less than what LL charges the consumer saves money.

Unfortunatly when you lease or rent a parcel you must go threw the original land owner to do so. Depending on the landlord that can be good or bad it depends on the landlord.

I think its just a matter of what is best for the individual. Be sure to read the fine print when leasing or renting.

I guess I'm just talking to a wall here in this thread.

However, I will say AGAIN. Some people don't want to "buy" land from a private landowner when they can rent it.

That is fine.

Some of us, however, given the choice - as I was - WANT to "buy" land from the landowner. And get many services in return.

See my post in the other, similar thread for a mention of other ways in which I find the "sell" arrangement so satisfactory that I forgot to mention in this thread.

It is NOT the same product and NOT at the same level of usage.

Now I know that is the way some of you see it. I am saying not only is it not the way I see it, it is in fact qualitatively different.

For people who want to rent, go ahead - rent, that's fine.

But please stop slurring the name of people like Nexus who offer this other service, which is different from renting.

Those of us who like the "buying" arrangement don't like being constantly told we are idiots and for some odd reason just can't SEE that there is no difference, despite the clear and obvious fact that there are differences.

I've gone to pains in both this and the other thread to point out these differences. I have not called renters stupid. I've BEEN a renter.

Finally, making a blanket statement that Anshe's reputation is bad in SL - much less deciding to put out a notecard to that effect! - is wrong.

It depends on who you talk to. It's one thing to talk about a bad incident with her, bad for whatever reasons - misunderstanding, either party acting less than stellarly, I don't care.

But it is quite another to attempt to smear a person's reputation.

People aren't just hurting her, either, when they use her "sell" business to smear her; they are hurting all the other people in the same business, including Nexus Nash. And that makes me mad. It hurts a whole industry, and a viable service many MANY of us need, like, and use.

coco

P.S. I don't defend Nexus and Azure Islands to protect my investment! I defend it because it's a good system, I like the system, and he's a good guy! I have no intentions of selling this land anyway, but the fact is, it IS a good investment - or looks as good as any other investment in this game - and if I should decide to sell, I probably will reap the rewards of said investment.

Or come out even, at least!

April and others. It is possible to rent in Dreamland, either for USD using paypal or by paying in linden dollars, same as the other barons offer, but seems to do their best to not mention.

The difference is if you pay for the land and pay tier, you can have more land for same tier fee. Let me give some examples that should clearify this.

You rent land for USD you pay 25$ for 4096sqm /month
You buy the land and pay 25$ for 5120sqm /month

Did anyone of these people bashing Dreamland bother checking this out ?
All this information is also provided at the webpage, its no secret

To me it seems Kismet left because some people had said bad things about Anshe, not because he/she was unhappy with the land. Maybe these shittalkers should look themselves in the mirror and ask. I am I proud of myself now when my BS made someone (maybe an individual incapable of making conclusions of their own) panic and lose money due to that ?

I would like to know where Kismet moved, I am sure I can say something bad about that person also, may it then be Alliez, Hiro or Governor Linden. But what do their personal life weirdness or shadyness in past have to do with what service they provide now? Its all irrelevant

Why do you want to know where she moved? You would start bad mouthing her new landlord/lady? Why would you enjoy that? Indeed WTF has personnal character got to do with it? I certainly haven't mentioned it. How much is fish these days anyhoo?

uh did you bother reading the thread? This was my entry point into the thread. Comparisons were made in pricing between the business you work for, against others, including my own. This lead to me pointing out a few of my own comparisons, which was met with the idea I should mind my own business!

Why isn't it the same product and the same usage. I can edit the land and do anything to the land that you can. I have my land deeded to my group, just like you do. What is the difference, other than you paid money up front and I didn't?

Hiro Queso and others like him are providing the same level of service without the up front fee. And I won't insult you by implying that I am talking to a wall.

Why is educating someone as to how these services work a smear? Wouldn't you as a newbie want to know how everything works?

If you did not bash Dreamland, why get upset? It was directed towards those talking without knowledge :P

Because you aimed your firstpost at 'land barons' that have posted in this thread. I have not seen anyone you could refer to as a 'land baron' cast aspersion on AC's character, personality or 'shadyness'. If that is the issue you have, maybe you should address to the correct people.

And I still haven't seen an expplanation for this hypocrisy that 'land barons' have supposed to have been flaunting around in this thread.

And that's fair enough Finn. But when the merits of that option are compared against my own, don't expect me to stay away from the thread posting my own comparisons. It is my business, so I am minding it.
