Inferniel,
Thank you for jumping in and commenting on the negativity directed at Club Elite and its passing. The Club Elite I have seen referenced here is NOT the same club that was recently taken out of commission. When Patrick purchased Elite Island, his goal was to try to create and maintain an environment that was friendly and as lag free as possible. We, along with many others who helped us rebuild Elite, were successful in that to a point. We had a wonderful, friendly, and outgoing staff who tried to entertain and make it fun and enjoyable for everyone. Those of you who have bashed Club Elite had apparently not bothered to visit the club under the Management of Patrick and myself because if you had, you would not have been making the comments I have seen here.

From: Essence Lumin I started this thread and wish to make my feelings known now. Club Elite has a big, sometimes harsh history, but not with Patrick. I don't go to clubs often. Once in a while. I've talked to Patrick and been to his club just a couple of times. It is clear to me he ran his club for the love of it to create a community, and also spent a lot of time and money doing so. It is quite sad when a person feels they cannot do this anymore due to external circumstances changing. If there is one thing SL should be promoting and seems to be sadly lacking right now, it is ways of creating communities of many types (not just clubs). Find incentives for clubs, events, meeting spaces where communities can grow. Essence, Thank you. I agree totally with your insight here. And you are exactly right. We did create a community, one that I hope will continue even after the end of Elite. We made many new aquaintences and formed some lasting friendships. For me, and many others, that is a very important part of the overall SL experience. We all need some sense of community, but in the current scheme of things, it is hard to create and maintain a lasting community spirit. From: Patrick Playfair I had hoped to turn it around, yes. And I think I was successful. But that can only be judged by the people who were there and saw the changes. I think that a LOT of people would agree that the CLub had changed 100% for the better. I can deal with it Hiro, but I also think that I should post, the thread is about the end, and I put a lot of effort, time and money into Elite to try to make it a place where people would enjoy themselves. Oh, absolutely. But you still used the old name. I'm not saying your decision to do so was good or bad, nor am I making a judgement about your club. I'm not even making a judgement call against Elite - I thought the old Elite (way back in the pre-1.4 days) was a fun place. I am saying: You made that choice and part of that choice is knowing that people will remember Elite for what it was. It's a pretty obvious thing and since you can't expect everyone to visit the new Elite, you can't expect them to change their opinion. In return, you got huge name recognision. That seems like a fair trade. Please live with your decision. From: someone Yes, I probably should have changed the name, but I didn't. I would just like to see it end with some dignity.
Ignore the forums. If people enjoyed your club, that's all the dignity it needs; nobody is going to remember a forum post over an in-world event. The forums are mostly gossip, and it really doesn't mean nothing if a few people post that they didn't like Elite. Whatever. You have the people who enjoyed it, that's what makes it worth it.

to all about Elite
04-23-2005 00:38
Well if i got anything to do with it Elite will not die at all and I will take name back if it is not used and I will make new club and I be damn I let anyone do that to Elite.
Elite was my whole SL life since 1.0 on to over year in game and I will not let anyone take it down or say it is end of club i started back in day. I will make sure it lives on if no one else does you can well bet i will do it.
Not only Elite was best running club in game but most of sl ppl that went there still with ppl they met there and most of all top names in sl use to work there one time or a other.
Now for all ppl that talks so bad about Elite that will just make me want to take back club life and no other club was head of game like Elite was for a long time.
Have a nice day and damn IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

. Patrick, Its been like that forever. John and I worked our butts off in that club. We worked hard to make less lag and a fun place for people to hang. We kept Club Elite number one for almost a year. The place was always full of people who loved and supported us. We were truely a family... We worked so so hard. No matter what we did though there were always a few people who could do nothing but bash us for every effort. I was very bothered by it at first. They called us names, they criticized, they put us down. I made myself physically sick over all the stuff that people said in the forums. One thing i learned though is not to let people bother you too much. Sure ther are a few critics but look at all the supporters you had. You can't please everyone... but look at how many people you did please. Its really unfortunate that even after Club Elite moved to a diferent sim Cristiano still has nothing better to do than to put it down. ITS A GAME PEOPLE.. have a little fun

There is always to sides to every story right? So what makes this topic any different? Being one of the ex staff members two times during my times there I can say 80% were good times. Hey thats not bad for what the conditions were near the end of elite . Some things I rather not talk about nor adress here. But I say Elite was one of the most family style Owned Clubs. This was due to ONLY Patrick Playfair! With his family type of kindness brought all of us staff together. Grant you, there is always problems due to some drama crap being play, but hey most clubs on sl are that way or even worse. I stand By Patrick Playfair now and I always will. Usagi

From: Mina Firefly I've been to the OLD elite back in the days.
The music was OK , the textures where a bit dark...the women a bit too easy , the men overbuffed and drooling all over anything that's female.
Then half of the staff left....so did half of the drooling men population , and from there on it sort of started to die. Mina you got that all wrong, may can get by with that with new players but not old ones and i remember alot of times you was there having fun and kicking it with few ppl. And no one left Elite back then Well have a good day

Me and Ana was Club Elite and we made it stay 1 for over year and even when I sold sim it was at number 1. I just hope some of old ppl that use to support us will also be there again for us

Good luck with whatever future project you take on Patrick! I apologize for never visiting "your" Club Elite. Personal issues from the original one just kept me from being able to make myself visit. I'm sure it was great though. Hell, I even met a lot of people from the original club elite that I really liked and consider/ed friends. I agree that it certainly has its place in SL history, no matter how differently people feel about the club itself. And I don't expect the "fame", "drama", or "history" of Club Elite to be over anytime soon.

Some clarifacation from an Elite dancer/ regular
04-23-2005 17:35
Ok peoples, most of you probably don't care but, I have been at elite non-stop since Daphnie hired me right before Big John sold it. First of all to Big John, BS! When you sold Elite Island it had fallen out of the popular places. It certainly was not number one at that time, I remember, I was there. Second of allmost of you that have posted have not been regulars since elite changed hands, seeing as you were not there you have no right to comment on it. Pat and Madi were wonderful people, very generous and they created a family like atmosphere among the staff. We had about 35-40 people who were there almost every night, and we all loved it. Say what you want to say about the "old" Elite, but since it changed hands it has been the MOST wonderful place to party and work. You will never find a kinder group of people. I can tell you we certainly never had the drama that the "old" elite had. Third, clubs are just as important to SL as shopping malls or anything else, so get off your high horses! If the fact that there are clubs in SL offends you somehow then find another game. It's no reason to celebrate someone elses heartbreak.

Club Elite
04-23-2005 21:46
From: Artemis Fate *cheers*
Been waiting for that club to be destroyed since it started so many months ago, I remember how when it started BigJohn employed a terrorist tactic to gain land, driving people out of the sim by blasting one tupac song over and over and building the biggest ugliest build he could, people left in anger and he bought their land. Starting up what would be known as the shitty-club phenomenon (to me anyways), bringing a new age of lack-luster building and loose ugly women.
Club Elite is no more....mmmm that sounds so nice.
One down, Three-hundred more to go. Months ago? trying more like a few years ago, i dont see elite being gone for to long , from what i see is BJ & Ana starting over again which i would love to see happen, i was with elite for a very long time and enjoyed working there.

You know i was told about this post in the forums and came here thinking i was going to be upset about post from Cristiano and his buddies (like always). Surprisingly though the thing that is makeing me really upset is the fact that JOHN built Elite from the ground up in the beginning of SL. We made that club rock it was number one for a year... we worked our asses off and people loved it and came back over and over again. Finally a time came when me and John wanted to do something in rl and take some time out for each other so we decided to sell it. Club Elite was like our baby it was hard decision to make. We sold the island to Lensey who sold it to Patrick. Patrick had the club a couple of months and sold it again. OK so what really makes me mad is this, I read this forum and saw how people shit on our hard work and acted like the club was all improved after we sold it. Like all it was was some kind of sleeze before patrick got his angelic hands on it. Ok if this is true let me ask you this? If we were so bad why did we have so many customers? How did we keep our club packed daily? Why did people keep returning? We were not number one for a month or even a couple months... we kept number one a year. We had fun, we had regulars, we were like a family. I made my best SL friendships in Club Elite and have my best SL memories there. Not the "New and Improved" Club Elite as I have seen it called.... but the original one that John and I ran. I miss our old club I want a chance for the new comers to see what Club Elite was REALLY about. I know those of you have been in SL longer already know. It makes me wish we never sold it because it was OUR work. Maybe Club Elite should have taken a break with John and I and made a come back when we returned to SL. We jst really hated to see it die after we put so much into it... but in the end it looks like it already did. Its ok though we will bring it back and it will be better than ever!

First impression is everything. If the owner of a club threatens to kill your friends and family, you're not going to be inclined to go there. Likewise, if he has the writing skills of a third grader, you're going to tend to assume that the club is less than professional. From: someone Ok if this is true let me ask you this? If we were so bad why did we have so many customers?
Sex and sleaze sells. From: someone How did we keep our club packed daily?
Spamming the newbie area, AFK scripts, vague threats to the help, and escort services maybe? Beats me, that's all I've heard whenever Elite is brought up in passive conversation. My point is, instead of antagonizing your neighbors, not using proper grammar, and otherwise being xenophobic, perhaps lighten up a bit and not let the assholes (like myself) bother you. LF

Ana, I figured I would let you rant in a few posts and trot out BJ to grunt a bit before I would respond again. Has your time away from Club Elite caused you to forget what it was? You are delusional if you think sleaze was not a fundamental factor in its success. You had escorts, you had sex rooms, you had a store with sex toys. Club Elite was legendary for its sleaziness. You are ranting as if somehow calling it sleazy is misrepresenting it. Club with hookers and sex balls=sleazy, no way around that one. Sex sells, so it was a success. You should be so proud. Another sex club was on top too, you may remember it - Club XXX - with a model sucking a dildo for its promo picture. Classy! Do you think Elite was any better than that? It sounds like you are having sellers remorse, and are resentful of Patrick because he managed to run the club without all the baggage associated with it when it was yours (all thanks to BJ, not you). Perhaps if BJ weren't just interested in cashing out (aka selling out), you would still have a club. Patrick has evoked loyalty and praise because he did one thing that BJ could never ever do - he was a decent person. He didn't exploit women, wasn't a homophobe, wasn't misogynistic, wasn't a skirt chasing thug. Club Elite in its new form was about having fun, dancing, being around people. It wasn't about winning and being ELITE (an oxymoron in itself is there was nothing ever elite about your club). Funny thing, Club Elite was not number one on the list when you sold it - it had fallen from the top and you couldn't get it to go back up. Nice attempt to rewrite history though and say that the club went out on top. Maybe in sexual position, but certainly not in popularity. Good luck with your new ventures. It's a very different and much more cutthroat club market now, though there is room for another giant black box I suppose. I hope you are at least unselfish enough to build it on a private island, but knowing BJ, you will fuck up some other sim and not give a care who you affect. Elite, indeed.

The sim had no vendors when we own it and ppl did not use VIP rooms that much at all and ppl just love to come by and patry and have fun and we was still number 1. We had no reason to spam newb area did you forget how well Elite was known? The days going to newb area was way back when trying to get club known and get ppl come by and check it out hell was not even many clubs back then Nice to see you again Chris hope all is well with you
