You could not be more wrong, Hiro. The land owners in Federal suffered through sub 25 fps daily for nearly a year. Club Elite was hell and I am glad it is gone. I feel sorry for anyone unfortunate enough to be in DaBoom. There is no excuse for the Edge not to be in a private sim. Oh, I know what the framerate was in Federal. I also know that it was still LESS laggy than other clubs; now that is a scary fact. I was making my comment on relative lag. _____________________

When will you comprehend that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should? Knowing that a large group of people, along with scripts, lights, etc.. causes massive lag, why would you build something that would purposely affect everyone around you in the same sim? Do you just not give a fuck, because it's your land? Anyone with that attitude is an ass, and any club that acts like that deserves to fail. Stop making apologies for bad behavior, Blake. I don't make apologies for anyone, and I certainly don't make apologies for game Policy. Your suggestion of putting Clubs in private Sim is fine, however; policy dictates that they do not have to. Maybe they don't have the money to buy a whole sim in anycase, people have a will and are going to do what they want, I do not defend actions of disregard, but; Linden Labs implements the Policies. What you suggest is still Zoning if they are forced to buy Private Sims. The only way they will be forced is to abide by Policy and zoning restrictions and this will be an endless debate until something is done about it. Your opinion on what people should and should not do is irrelevant to the problem; the problem is there, it needs to be addressed by Linden Labs, not the Land Owner. Until they change such policy; the land owner has a right to build what they want. Period! Doesn't matter if I agree with it or not. Policy is Policy. There is no Second Life Law regarding "Disturbing the Peace" or "Disturbing the Lag." _____________________

Agreed, there is nothing in the TOS that says you don't have to be a contemptible asshole - you are free to be one. Common courtesy of not doing something that will negatively affect everyone around you should not have to be spelled out in a policy for someone to not act like a fucktard. It is a shame that it does. By the way, Blake, that is not directed at you. _____________________

There is no Second Life Law regarding "Disturbing the Peace" or "Disturbing the Lag." *coughs* Community Standards Big Six: Disturbing the Peace Every Resident has a right to live their Second Life. Disrupting scheduled events, repeated transmission of undesired advertising content, the use of repetitive sounds, following or self-spawning items, or other objects that intentionally slow server performance or inhibit another Resident's ability to enjoy Second Life are examples of Disturbing the Peace. _____________________

Ok, great; there is a Disturbing the Peace Policy, however; it does not state that a entity such as a Club is doing so by existing within the current policy guidelines that I know of. Places of resident and places of business are not zoned, however; I think it is necessary just like in real life...that's why it exists, and that's why it is an issue here. _____________________

That specific example is not listed, and neither is any specific example; that's because the CS Big 6 are guidelines meant to be interpreted with common sense. There is plenty of precedence of Lindens investigating lag on builds, and usually it's with the cooperation of the offending landowner, because they want their build to be not laggy. I agree that some form of localized zoning is a good idea, but to say that currently there's a free-for-all on what can be build is simply hyperbole. _____________________

to all you people that hated elite and are saying nasty things about it....i have two words for you...grow up!!!!....if you hated elite so bad why do you waiste your time bashing it in forums...don't you have time to do anything else better...and if Club Elite was so bad...then why don't you try building your own club...CRITICS like you should shut up and try to do better if you don't like what people have made....i bet you just waiste your time complaining and bashing out of jealousy because you can't build or even run a club....so you bash out of envy...so just shut up, grow up and build your own club...I'D LOVE TO SEE YOU DO BETTER....when you have done that...then i'll hear your critism....until then....happy Second Lifing somewhere else.
P.S. I really do wish you luck in trying to do better. If we all would just shut up, stop complaining, and try to make something better then what we don't like, maybe, just maybe this world would be so much better. Good Luck and I hope to see some of you critics build clubs. I will happily attend out of good ethical and moral support for my fellow humans and furries. Inferniel Solvang. |

Are you people so bitter and jaded that you can't see that Patrick Playfair was as good decent person and not big john? From the tone of the conversation on here you all sound like spoiled children. CHILDREN.
I never felt anything from Patrick & the gang at Club Elite but family & friendship. So if you want to sit back and bash him, go ahead, but just remember, what you're saying is completely false and really - should be taken with a grain of salt. YMMV. |

*cheers* Been waiting for that club to be destroyed since it started so many months ago, I remember how when it started BigJohn employed a terrorist tactic to gain land, driving people out of the sim by blasting one tupac song over and over and building the biggest ugliest build he could, people left in anger and he bought their land. Starting up what would be known as the shitty-club phenomenon (to me anyways), bringing a new age of lack-luster building and loose ugly women. Club Elite is no more....mmmm that sounds so nice. One down, Three-hundred more to go. didnt you win my uniform contest in the female category at club elite two weeks ago? *shock* never knew you felt that way about us and the club. sorry to hear that. ![]() |

Essence...you are mistaken....the sim was sold...that means the island will still be there....the land was cleared for the new owner....i have no idea what the new owner will do with the land....ELITE ISLAND will be there to stay....i wonder what the new owner will do with her....

to all you people that hated elite and are saying nasty things about it....i have two words for you...grow up!!!!.... Why are you trying to silence the opinions of those you don't agree with? if you hated elite so bad why do you waiste your time bashing it in forums... Because it was a problem when it was on the mainland, and the previous owner (not patrick, never met the guy, I'm sure he's okay) was a total and complete racist, homophobe, and thug. don't you have time to do anything else better... Yes, I build lovely houses for people. What do you do? and if Club Elite was so bad...then why don't you try building your own club... Because a) I don't like clubs, and b) I have respect for my neighbors. CRITICS like you should shut up and try to do better if you don't like what people have made.... People have. People do. People will continue to do so. Trying to silence an opinion you dont like is a scary thing to popularize. i bet you just waiste your time complaining and bashing out of jealousy because you can't build or even run a club... Here's some ProTips(tm) for running a club: 1) Big box. 2) Advertise everywhere. 3) Invite everyone you see into the "Super Elite Private Executive Suite VIP" group. 4) Have 24/7 dance contests, money balls, slot machines, and escort services. 5) Advocate "big pimpin" lifestyles (bling, hoes, money) 6) Profit. It's really quite easy. As for building a club... any newbie with a basic grasp of geometry can build a club. Building a GOOD club takes an extra day or so of effort. .so you bash out of envy...so just shut up, grow up and build your own club.. Eat your own advice. .I'D LOVE TO SEE YOU DO BETTER....when you have done that...then i'll hear your critism. I'll keep that in mind if you ever complain about something you don't do yourself (running a virtual world, for instance). LF _____________________

When I first came to SL, some of my first fond memories were spent at Club Elite. I remember standing on top of the club as Torley Sr. and there was a "Hitlermelon" projector, in all its absurdity. I later learned that dear Cross Lament actually made this, and I rejoiced in her kindness. I walked around for a bit and tried to learn how to dance (all manual gesture activation at the time), and soon got run over by Terminator Brodsky and BigJohn Jade on their motorcycles. But that's okay because I said "I'm okay! I'm okay!" and BJ encouraged me to go back inside and dance in a few words. So I did.
I met an av who was trying to be an escort looking like Paris Hilton. I don't remember her name but I hope that worked out well for her, if she's still in SL. She was nice and gave me my first custom titler attachment, which I later learned was made by FlipperPA Peregrine, more warmly known to me as Flip amig0. I had problems using it and so I IMed Live Help, and lo and behold, he was on the line! I was thinking "Wow, what great help is this!"I remember getting totally tripped out one time listening to drama and gossip on the roof of Club Elite -- something I still don't relate to -- and watching a fireworks show being put on by some new friends. I also visited early in the incarnation that Patrick Playfair set up, and had some friendly chats with him. I went dancing every now and then. So, Club Elite has been an important part of my SL experience. ![]() _____________________

I remember the beginning of club elite. Mostly because it was right next door to me. and the lag killed me everytime I tried to build my masterpiece (of the week). I talked to BJ about it. That of course never got fixed, but a friendship grew. I *do* remember the horrors of the CE when it started. I also remember the return-griefing that was spawned by multitudes of people so intent on doing what they thought was "right" that they resorted to the same dirty nasty tricks that they were woefully berating BJ for employing in the first place. *smiles* Ahh the good old days. Club Elite was special. Not because it was unique. Because it was the grand-daddy. Like the old shipley tree. A part of SL that carried over from Beta, that fought through all the changes in the game. Fought, adapted, gave way when it had to, but fought nonetheless. It wasnt a pretty place. It wasnt a remarkable place. It wasnt a particularly exciting place. But it did have it's niche. Was I ever a fond visitor? No. Will I miss it? Of course. CE has a place in my SL expereince, in the SL experience of MANY. Remember - if you loved it, it was there for you love. if you hated it, it was there as a target for your anger and venting of spleen. Either way, it served to make an impact on the game. And if only because if that, it will be missed. Anything that adds more depth, history.... anything that increases the virtual reality of a place is special. Goor or bad. So yes, CE will be missed. Now how do I go about missing the Edge? *winks* Excellent! _____________________
