Why are you trying to silence the opinions of those you don't agree with? Because it was a problem when it was on the mainland, and the previous owner (not patrick, never met the guy, I'm sure he's okay) was a total and complete racist, homophobe, and thug. Yes, I build lovely houses for people. What do you do? Because a) I don't like clubs, and b) I have respect for my neighbors. People have. People do. People will continue to do so. Trying to silence an opinion you dont like is a scary thing to popularize. Here's some ProTips(tm) for running a club: 1) Big box. 2) Advertise everywhere. 3) Invite everyone you see into the "Super Elite Private Executive Suite VIP" group. 4) Have 24/7 dance contests, money balls, slot machines, and escort services. 5) Advocate "big pimpin" lifestyles (bling, hoes, money) 6) Profit. It's really quite easy. As for building a club... any newbie with a basic grasp of geometry can build a club. Building a GOOD club takes an extra day or so of effort. Eat your own advice. I'll keep that in mind if you ever complain about something you don't do yourself (running a virtual world, for instance). LF you have read this all wrong...i am not trying to silence an opinion...i was trying to silence gossip, slander, and inuendo...if all you do is complain and do nothing to make things better...what good is your opinion...second...i have opened my own club....it's having it's grand opening on Friday night....so please...stop assuming things....and i don't complain about stuff unless i have tried to do better than what i'm complaining about....third i wasn't refering to you |

Essence...you are mistaken....the sim was sold...that means the island will still be there....the land was cleared for the new owner....i have no idea what the new owner will do with the land....ELITE ISLAND will be there to stay....i wonder what the new owner will do with her.... Patrick said on closing night the sim was sold. He didn't want to say whether the sim would keep the same name or location. If it changes both its name and location It isn't Elite Island anymore imo. [edited to add] I just looked at the map. Elite Island is no longer a sim name and there is no sim 2 squares south of Eden either. |

First of all......................
In actuality, there were a lot of intentions in the new design (one of which was to raise the former 1/day rule to a higher number, currently 3), but allowing only premium members to post events was never part of the design. Part of the design was to have a growing number of Linden-owned public venues available, and that has now been implemented, along with the re-introduction of private estate access lists allowing you to post events there. The announcement is here: /3/05/42647/1.html#post462190 Again, I offer my apologies for the delay in introducing these. The good news is, we are certainly still open to suggestions and changes, so keep up the communication with us! Thanks, Jeff THATS why clubs are closing - THATS why event support was withdrawn - If you cant beat them, take them over. Secondly, since I've been playing this game I realised my biggest mistake ever - coming to these forums. After reading this thread I just want to fking puke, some of you people are such horrific hypocrites it's beyond belief!!!!!!!!!!! I've read every single post in this thread and three quarters of you slagging clubs and club goers off make every $L you have from these people - beyond belief. Even worse are those of you in this thread on your high handed soap boxes & dancing on the grave of Elite sniggering how you never go to clubs are outright liars cus I've seen most of you at my club on more than one occasion!! Patrick Playfair made a sincere post here about the closure of the thing he loved,WHAT that thing was is irrelevant,he could have been built statues of shaven donkies miles away from anyone and it shouldnt have mattered. Then someone else posts about the loss of something they loved and you vultures tear them apart in both threads WTF is wrong with you people?WHY do you feel the need to come into a thread about a club closing when you have ZERO interest in clubs?????? You come to tell people who are your neighbours how much you hate them and what wankers they are for doing what they enjoy! I'm a great believer in community & if this is supposed to be one then you people make me ashamed to be a part of it so I'll be bowing out. The fact of the matter has already been stated by Blake Rockwell - if its going to cause lag then it shouldnt be possible to do - thats a fucking design fault on the part of Linden Labs and NOT on the part of the players. And for your information Mr Midnight I didnt lag anyone out with my club because I was the first on our sim and so were 90% of the clubs I know - if people choose to move there then who's fault is that? Yes I'm a club owner - but I'm not so moronic as to judge someone by what their activities are in game,I judge them on WHO they are not WHAT they are or what they do to enjoy Second Life......something some of you cross burners should try sometime. _____________________

I started this thread and wish to make my feelings known now. Club Elite has a big, sometimes harsh history, but not with Patrick. I don't go to clubs often. Once in a while. I've talked to Patrick and been to his club just a couple of times. It is clear to me he ran his club for the love of it to create a community, and also spent a lot of time and money doing so. It is quite sad when a person feels they cannot do this anymore due to external circumstances changing. If there is one thing SL should be promoting and seems to be sadly lacking right now, it is ways of creating communities of many types (not just clubs). Find incentives for clubs, events, meeting spaces where communities can grow.

I think alot of the bashing has to do with some people being just basic glass is half empty types. I know a few of the bashers and they are mainly not happy unless they are bitching or tearing someone or something down just shows their deeply rooted infantile insecurity. Their impersonation of a two year olds temper tantrum I just basically laugh at shake my head and hope they get therapy or prozac if they are trully That negative and Miserable lol me their silly rantings bother about as much as a rainy. |

When I was new, Club Elite was one of those places that you just had to visit. First time I was there in June 2004, it was intimidating. A full adult shopping area, dozens of people mobbing the raffleball, naked people!!! Ana was always very nice, but BJ always scared the hell out of me!
I probably went to the one in Federal a dozen times - heck, he had a L$2,000 raffle! What I liked about it was that besides the regulars, there was always a few people who were wandering in for the first time and it was always fun to watch them take it all in. Also, I had the good fortune to buy a 64sm in Federal for around L$100. Sold it to BJ for L$1,000. I enjoyed that. _____________________

when, in my little tribute to Club Elite, I mentioned the lag I noticed. I was refering to something that actually "introduced me to BJ" (I even recall being polite when we talked). And it was that instance that built the friendship we had.
which ironically when I look at my post, is exactly what I said. And was not a bash on CE for lagging. Did it lag out the sim? yes. initially when the scripts were nasty and everywhere. did it lag it out later? yes when a zillion people came over. But that never bothered me. it was like the fact that those sims (the outlands) were all set damage zones and you usually died about a dozen times a day trying to build your house. it was part of the charm of the place. that memory is why I'm still there. I did not cuss or disparage CE, or really even the Edge (save to poke a bit of fun). If you want to take something seriously - take seriously the fact that these things are a part of SL - good or bad doesnt matter. If that is changing that doesnt mean it's better, it just means things are changing. Be serious about *why* there is change. So that you can see where SL is headed, what things are replacing what, becoming the *in* thing. That's far more exciting to talk about then venting spleen. and on that subject Sox, Blake - it's alright you can pull your heads out of your asses now. You both speak very well. but if you leave your ears uncovered as well as your mouths, you might actually make a RELEVANT point. That wasnt nice of me. So I guess I'm offensive. But hey, At least I dont lag *winks* _____________________

I vaguely remember the first versions of Club Elite around the Aug-Sept. 2003 timeframe. Yes..I came in at the end of December 2003, and it was already well-established, and possibly the second build (I'm not sure but they were working on the basement). I also visited Club Midnight around that same time. Clu Vogue was still around but no one was ever there (employees, owners or customers). Club Midnight (that version), was also very cool. Smaller and more intimate. The worst part about it was getting to it. I'd get trapped under that sky platform and end up spending several minutes making my way to the entrance. ![]() _____________________

You could not be more wrong, Hiro. The land owners in Federal suffered through sub 25 fps daily for nearly a year. Club Elite was hell and I am glad it is gone. I feel sorry for anyone unfortunate enough to be in DaBoom. There is no excuse for the Edge not to be in a private sim. I just learned of this thread, as I have been very busy lately with the sellng of ELite Island and the Club. But I would like to set a few things straight for the record. I bought Elite Island in November, along with the rights to the name Club ELite. I have read all of the previous history about the problems in Federal, the lag, and the bullshit. When I bought he Club, it was on a private Island, lagging no one. I changed the whole atmosphere of the club and provided good clean fun. And I had 100's of loyal customers who enjoyed the new CLub Elite. Those of you who want to dance on the grave of the OLD CLub ELite, please do so. But those of you who had never been to the CLub after I purchaased it, know nothing about how the club had changed. I loved the club, the island, and treated everyone with resapect. I had 40 staffers, who all were sorry to see the club go, they called it home. I also had a mall there and an apartment complex. Of all the people associated with the Island, EVERYONE was genuinely saddened by its loss. All of the negative comments in this thread are from people who were NEVER at the island since I bought it. I devoted a lot of time and energy to the club and it will always be in my most cherished memories of SL, along with many others. I am sorry for those of you who had bad experiences in the past, but I have not seen a sngle customer of the NEW Elite post a negative comment in the forums. Please let MY Club ELite die with dignity. . _____________________

I will get it back on topic. Bye, Club Elite, can't say I'm sorry to see you go. Good luck with your future ventures, Patrick, you're a great guy. Cristiano, I have never had any dealings with you, and have been a customer of yours. But you need to bury your hatchett with the old CLub ELite. You have never been to the Club ELite that just closed, and I have nevr done anything to you nor made a negative comment about you. The Club Elite that just closed is not the one you had issues with. . _____________________

*finds it odd a lot of people bashing elite had not been to the one on elite island or they had been and spent a nice bit of time there* if it was that bad why stay and if you have not been why comment?
or is it a go with the crowd thing now that you're in the company of other bitter hateful people? |

Agreed, there is nothing in the TOS that says you don't have to be a contemptible asshole - you are free to be one. Common courtesy of not doing something that will negatively affect everyone around you should not have to be spelled out in a policy for someone to not act like a fucktard. It is a shame that it does. By the way, Blake, that is not directed at you. Is it meant for me Cristiano? . _____________________

Well, I'm saddened by the loss of Club Elite. I spent some time there back when I first joined, in the BigJohn/Ana era, and was happy that Patrick had added in blues and hired Flaming Moe and me for some live sets. Thanks for supporting live music, Patrick, and best of luck with whatever comes next! Astrin, You were a great supporter of the Club and brought new life to it as well. Thank you for being a part of the rebuilding of Club Elite after Patrick purchased it from BigJohn and Ana. Your support and participation during the time Patrick (and I) owned Elite Island will always be appreciated. Madison Playfair Former Co-Owner of Elite Island and SL wife of Patrick Playfair |

I had hoped to turn it around, yes. And I think I was successful. But that can only be judged by the people who were there and saw the changes. I think that a LOT of people would agree that the CLub had changed 100% for the better. I can deal with it Hiro, but I also think that I should post, the thread is about the end, and I put a lot of effort, time and money into Elite to try to make it a place where people would enjoy themselves. It is disturbing to see people piss on all of my hard work, when their issues are with someone elses work. Yes, I probably should have changed the name, but I didn't. I would just like to see it end with some dignity. . |

That to me seems unrealistic; you can't have it both ways. have you not been paying attention to what the "POSITIVE" reviews have been saying or are you dense. patrick has worked hard to change that reputation. let it go dude, move on, let the past die. the elite that closed was not the same elite. please think before you speak. |
