Cocoanut, I don't think I have seen Baseball in SL but I have seen a lot of other sports, the components of which could certainly be used to make baseball. Ben Linden created a remarkable game of catch, and with SL physics I don't see why a bat couldn't be scripted to hit a ball. I know bases could easily be made aware of player collisions which would ensure runners touched each base.

Sounds like a fun project. I would love to see what you came up with.

Me! I can't script or anything! I was hoping someone else would come up with it, and I could play it!

Ya don't forget to do your hair before you go. You can just do the mascara in the car.

You people that do not like Entertainment must really be boring and probably lonely or are only in game to make money another way. You do what the hell you want and leave us sociables alone! You don't like the music? You don't like the Clubs, well..get the hell out and buy your own damn Sim and stop ruining other peoples good times!

My two cents worth.

Blake,

I have nothing against clubs, other than stupid pointless ones owned by retarded thugs who lag an entire sim and don't care at all how it affects those around them, as long as they can make that top 10 list and whore out for a developer incentive. Private island sim clubs are one thing, mainland clubs are quite another - they are lag bombs that people deseperately try to move away from. I have nothing against Patrick, this current version of the club wasn't hurting anybody as it was finally on a private island, he's just standing up for what he believes in. The previous owner was an ass, Patrick seems like a great guy.

Not liking orgy balls, badly dressed pixel prostitutes, and riding on sex balls like a pathetic mechanical bull does not make someone boring - it simply means they have a brain, and taste. There are actually some very cool clubs in SL, just like in RL - they take time, money and creativity to develop. However, the vast majority of them are pathetic, uncreative holes designed to do nothing but suck dwell in some vain attempt at popularity. People, however, are fickle, and so out with the old and in with the new. Clubs will always be around, but there is not enough variety or quality to support 8,000 giant black box brothels playing Kid Rock music while hoochies dance in thongs. * yawn * Maybe someone can find a way to combine Tringo and sexiest thong contests - Thongo should be a big hit.

If that post was trying to win support for clubs its a miserable failure........ having fun in SL doesnt equal clubs. I dance, talk to friends, socialize but dont go to clubs... I wonder how that's possible??? doh

Perspective:

- Most RL businesses fail.
- SL clubs seem to run on the principle that a club owner can pay $200 a month and pay its employees scraps from dwell and somehow run a club with events going 24/7.
- Employees aren't usually very loyal when they are volunteer
- SL clubs are usually a dime a dozen in design
- Most SL clubs start out as a group of friends that is fun and turns into a business that is stressful
- Griefers
- Lag
- $$$ /sigh

Considering all the work, it's no wonder clubs come and go.

On Elite:

I always thought it was funny that Elite Executive was never elite nor executive. The club used to be a lot of fun back when it was BJ and a bunch of friends, but so many times I'd been to the island and it was AFK dancing. =\ ... I think it's a symptom of clubbing SL wide; maybe I was spoiled with all the great Cartel parties.

Parties. Maybe that's the key. Elite used to be a hang-out spot and people would party. After a month or two of being a club, it was a chore to BJ and Ana... I'd visit and they'd both be AFK for half hour, hour... wasn't worth it to just pop in and visit like I used to, when we'd hang out and chat and whatever.

Elite was basically done for almost a year ago. =\ This is just the formal burial.

Ah, well... yannow.

I remember the beginning of club elite. Mostly because it was right next door to me. and the lag killed me everytime I tried to build my masterpiece (of the week).

I talked to BJ about it. That of course never got fixed, but a friendship grew. I *do* remember the horrors of the CE when it started. I also remember the return-griefing that was spawned by multitudes of people so intent on doing what they thought was "right" that they resorted to the same dirty nasty tricks that they were woefully berating BJ for employing in the first place.

*smiles* Ahh the good old days.

Club Elite was special. Not because it was unique. Because it was the grand-daddy. Like the old shipley tree. A part of SL that carried over from Beta, that fought through all the changes in the game. Fought, adapted, gave way when it had to, but fought nonetheless.

It wasnt a pretty place.
It wasnt a remarkable place.
It wasnt a particularly exciting place.

But it did have it's niche. Was I ever a fond visitor? No. Will I miss it? Of course. CE has a place in my SL expereince, in the SL experience of MANY.

Remember - if you loved it, it was there for you love. if you hated it, it was there as a target for your anger and venting of spleen.

Either way, it served to make an impact on the game. And if only because if that, it will be missed. Anything that adds more depth, history.... anything that increases the virtual reality of a place is special. Goor or bad. So yes, CE will be missed.

Now how do I go about missing the Edge? *winks*

and it spawned the SL phrase "Easier than the girls at Club Elite" *waits for the outraged escorts to jump all over that*

Lag is not a businesses fault, you seem to not comprehend; it is the developer and game engine. YOu put a bunch of people anywhere, even a Wedding and the result is the same.
Private Sims are fine, Im not gonna dictate where someone can and cannot build if they own the land. Fix the lag or ZONE IT!

Hell I can't even get in the game right now and get disconnected or can hardly move in some Sims that have very few people in them right now. Stop blaming land owners for what is the Game Companys fault.

wait a min hun lets put this in prospective....Sims lag is based on server that sim in on. Example......Elite was on a fairly old server hence the lag.Pat tried to reduce the lag redesigning the last club. Well it worked up to a point. But still it lagged. The edge which is on a VERY old Server.HENCE heavy lag. Now some say they never lag.well everyone lags. No matter how good their computer is. We need a better servers to reduce the lag.

As for the loggin it based on how many people that are loggin in at that time and which sim they are entering on.
USagi Have a great day hun :)

So basically any lag in any only game should be blamed on the Internet's developer's? No, the logic is flawed. You develop software for a platform, including software and hardware limitations. These are things developers take into account while developing.

These include basics like: "Don't put a giant shop/casino/poseball lag-hell right next to your club that will be a high traffic area." (Case in point: The Edge... Elite was never TOO bad about this.)

Thats is why hun i like to dress in quility things :) really......I understand your point. Before the change in jan it was getting wy out of hand alot of clubs only sold sex as events. Now what i say is this.........Nowadays we see more tringo and sling.now whats worse? sex or these games.
Hey people pay 5000l for a skin. Only to sit and play games on sl?!

When will you comprehend that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should? Knowing that a large group of people, along with scripts, lights, etc.. causes massive lag, why would you build something that would purposely affect everyone around you in the same sim? Do you just not give a fuck, because it's your land? Anyone with that attitude is an ass, and any club that acts like that deserves to fail. Stop making apologies for bad behavior, Blake.

Well, I'm saddened by the loss of Club Elite. I spent some time there back when I first joined, in the BigJohn/Ana era, and was happy that Patrick had added in blues and hired Flaming Moe and me for some live sets.

Thanks for supporting live music, Patrick, and best of luck with whatever comes next!

You could not be more wrong, Hiro. The land owners in Federal suffered through sub 25 fps daily for nearly a year. Club Elite was hell and I am glad it is gone. I feel sorry for anyone unfortunate enough to be in DaBoom. There is no excuse for the Edge not to be in a private sim.
