For real? How come ![]() Club Elite has a long history. To see the reason for it's downfall search for posts by Patrick Playfair who owns and took down the club this evening. |

Been waiting for that club to be destroyed since it started so many months ago, I remember how when it started BigJohn employed a terrorist tactic to gain land, driving people out of the sim by blasting one tupac song over and over and building the biggest ugliest build he could, people left in anger and he bought their land. Starting up what would be known as the shitty-club phenomenon (to me anyways), bringing a new age of lack-luster building and loose ugly women. Club Elite is no more....mmmm that sounds so nice. One down, Three-hundred more to go. _____________________

I've been to the OLD elite back in the days.
The music was OK , the textures where a bit dark...the women a bit too easy , the men overbuffed and drooling all over anything that's female. Then half of the staff left....so did half of the drooling men population , and from there on it sort of started to die. |

Poor old social players - perhaps they should start posting to the forums.
As a content creator I am concerned by the events changes and the effect they will have on the social players who make up the majority of my (and most people's) customers. |

The Elite, in one of it's earliest versions, was the first social center that I stumbled across when I came into SL. The world was much smaller then, and far less AVs runnin g around, but if you went to the Elite, folks would trickle in and it was such a great place to meet others. I met some people, that remain good friends to this day (Hey Purps!).
Like it or hate it, it was very much a Second Life landmark, and a definite part of SL's history. Though I haven't stepped through it's doors since it left Federal, it makes me sad to see it go. _____________________

ommmggg u r teh roxxor....America's future never looked so bright.... Why is it that you and so many others here prefer to knock the poster or their style of writing, rather than what they're actually saying? Is it easier for you that way, so you don't actually have to put some thought into a response? |

Odd isn't it that no one else sees this as the begining of the end. Do you believe that the SL population has reached it's peak and will now begin to decline in numbers until it's no longer viable? I'm asking this seriously because I've reluctantly begun to feel this way for a few varying reasons. Talking about it only raises hateful "sky is falling" flames so I haven't said much. Well I have now. My condolenses to the members of Elite. I have to wonder though, of the hundreds of members, are there not a few that are willing to take on the cost and management of the project. The members of a group this size surely don't depend on just one or two people to support such a massive entertainment system. _____________________

Try talking to the youth of America and you'll understand . The majority can't speak well at all. As for knocking people ...pot, kettle, black...it seems you have no problem doing it when it suits your needs. _____________________

I havent been in Second Life all that long... but i did go to Club Elite a few times, and I lived in Elite apartments for a while. It is too bad that it had to go.
Im a little confused why some people feel the need to suggest all these clubs should disappear from Second Life. Clubs are a big part of the Social Scene. If someone personally dislikes the "partier" set .. they are entiltled to their opinion. But realistically if you reduce/remove those people in the game you will drastically reduce demand on Many of the products that keep the economy going. Clothing, hair, dance animations .. the list goes on and on. A lot of people want to socialize .. these would be CONSUMERS. I could see an agruement that would zone land so that clubs werent on every corner, so that someones tranquil park didnt have a club built next door. But advocating the end of the club scene is completely counter productive to wanting an Enduring Second Life. |

hmmm so i dont use the English Grammer like it should be used...americans really dont they each have thier own slang all over ...even accents... and Talen i wasnt putting down anyone's way of talking/typing just thier meanness of wanting to destroy other things....but then you are not required to go to them or like them....
what is the use trying to tell poeple they are mean for saying ..cant wait for rest to die off....for cant with that much small minded people....Does remind me of that country that we here in US are at war with...the one responsible for NY in 2001...they want all of us to just die off..........ironic how humans seems to almost - i said almost- be the same everywhere in some form, thought, or other..... |

An interesting question. I've lately had the feeling that the World of Second Life has grown too large for it's inhabitants. So many sims empty of AVs, and empty of any real builds of interest. Many folks seems at a loss as to what to do with their time in-world, oldbies, midbies and newbies alike. Also, the direction that LL is apparently taking with SL, in regards to the large percentage of the population that just wants to socialize, shop and goof around, is having an adverse effect I think. First the lowered bonuses, then the higher cost of ratings, the ending of event support other than educational, and now the fact that unless you own the land, or it is group owned, you can't have others posting events, and then they are limited. While I don't see anything overly wrong with any of these changes by themselves, I can definitely see where folks would begin to feel as though their activities and style of fun was less important than others. They have, in effect, become second-class citizens. Poeple will start to leave if the changes continue to have negative, or percieved negative, impacts on the social-club-party crowd. Even I am feeling some of these, such as being unable to let others go about the task of running Perilous Pleasures, because they can no longer post events. Or the fact that I'm spending alot of money (to me) in an online environment that the newness has worn off from and the cost of contributing to the community, or making a lasting mark, has become far more than any other online MMORPG. Has SL reached it's peak in potential and population? I have no idea really. But I have talked to many folks that are becoming disillusioned or fed up, or just plain burnt out. Without goals, or non-stressful ways of enjoyment, or feeling as though the individual has some importance, I don't see any online environment surviving overly long. Sure. I know. You can make your own goals. You can build in the sandbox. You can create clothing (if you shell out the cash for a good program and want to compete against tons of already established designers). You can create new scripting wonders, provided you can script or have the time to learn. You can create clever animations, provided you pay the cash to buy an animation program. You can stream in video, provided you pay the cash for a web server or media server. And finally, you can visit friends and chat and just hang out. And events and clubs are a great place to do this, as well as a great way for poor folks to make a little cash, or meet new people. It may be that I'm a wee bit burnt out on SL right now, because I know I am, but there are others that feel something is missing, or SL has become a rat-race, money-grabbing enterprise, with the social aspect being shoved to the back of the line. The sky isn't falling, but perhaps it's become a bit polluted. Flame away ![]() _____________________
