I'm quite puzzled as to how I drove Catherine from SL. I never met her, never said anything bad about her, and never (neg) rated any of her builds. And yet I am listed as someone who drove her away from SL.

And I thought the SL land market was difficult to understand!!

i just discovered that she has also been putting abusive boards on other people's property in-world! Great! Personal attacks, and no way to defend yourself from it! Totally in line with my previous experience with her.

How people can support her words and actions is beyond my comprehension, but i never claimed to understand everything.

I would report the signs and delete them if they are on your land (your meaning anyone who is opposed to the signs). If Cat truely cancelled her account, then she will not be able to put them back out. If someone puts them out for her, that person then becomes the owner of the object and can be reported.

I state all this to point out that these are ways you can defend yourself, so not to worry if you feel that option has been taken from you.

That has always been the interesting and frustrating dichotomy with Catherine. In many ways, I admire her idealism, but forum issue discussion has never been her forte because at some point emotion takes over and whatever logic may have been there disappears. I would often find myself agreeing with her in one thread, only to find myself in her crosshairs in another thread, or vice versa.

It often amazes me the way people can interpret certain things - it is true you definitely cannot control how someone else takes your words, no matter how innocuous they might appear. Tone is so often hard to project here (especially when people fake it by saying some nasty thing and then putting a smiley after it and then claiming to be kidding because they insulted with a freaking emoticon after it, which apparently cancels it out). Catherine often hones in on something that someone says and interprets it in a way that makes you go "uh??", but what can you do? She is who she is, as we all are.

I have my opinion about the value of your contributions to this forum, especially about issues that involve my person. If you want your opinions be taken more seriously by me, maybe you should reflect about what you actually posted in the past.



I think we differ on interpretation about the term "anyone else". If I comment on three or four wrongly informed posters on one thread this is not "anyone else". False reasoning like this can be found all too often in your posts, so please don't take offense if I rely on my own judgement and that of people whom I find display a more logical thinking.

Beside this, I don't really see how this discussion you bring up relates to topic of this thread or would be of any value to the readers of this forum. So I suggest to simply stop it.

I was surprised to see your name included too, it would be like seeing Maxx Monde's name on an evil land baron list. Sometimes Catherine does tend to shoot the messenger though, so if you got in the way and pointed out the logic of something like "why do you read the land/economy forum if you hate money, or why do you sell items", then perhaps that is how you ended up there I didn't read the money threads, so I am not sure if you even replied to her at all.

Well I found it funny, but then I always find you amusing

As far as "Catherine apologists", I can only speak for myself. I can't explain why she does the things she does in the forums. Have they made me crazy? Hell yes, I have gone back and forth with Catherine across two sites more times than I care to recount. I have had some very personal fights with her over disagreements that escalated into craziness because she would douse a thread with emotional gasoline and the whole thing would go up in flames. I get as much as anyone why she is frustrating - I just see the person beyond that. I make no apologies for her actions, they are her own. You can like someone and dlislike what they do at times. People have very valid reasons for being upset with Catherine and even disliking her - but people also have very valid reasons for liking her and thinking that the departure of someone as creative and sensitive as Catherine, however misguided at times is a sad thing.

The only time I saw Catherine as last night at Zermatt... she had a plot out on the ice about 70m from mine.... I didn't say heya due to not actually knowing her. But... well... wish I had. At least once. *shrugs*

If people want to leave SL because of disagreeing with the "ethics" of its users, well.... I suppose sensitivity is an issue I can't talk about, I've had those sorts of issues personally, but I don't let them spill into the forums, and certainly I don't name names.... that's just inviting drahma to your doorstep.

Hope your Christmas is less stressful, Cath. As for everyone else, let's go build something pretty and sparkly and stuff!

I think Cristiano put this very well. At this point maybe we move beyond question of liking or disliking or judging Catherine's actions. To me it seem one of us is very very unhappy. If we as community want deserve being called "community", then if one member is in such situation we forget our petty issues and give her one big hug.

Catherine, some of the people you've named are well known and respected people. If you really flip out this easily over people disagreeing with you over the Internet, you really do need a break. Take it, breathe, and relax!

And I agree 100% with you. That is why when I get back in-world I will not abuse report Catherine. I don't know her, and I do not wish her any grief.

However, at the same time, I would rather not keep quiet about a couple of things:

1. Selador (who again I think is an awesome person) bringing gender into this issue. I am a feminist by nature, however I will not refrain from calling someone out on an unprovoked attack on a segment of the population that does not have a digital voice of their own, just because she is a woman. I am speaking of the poor here.

2. Being publicly vilified (unless I have reeeaally been a horrible person) for speaking out on kind-hearted beliefs.

3. Being grouped into what is publicly considered a witch-hunt of which I did not participate in. I can honestly say that I don't lean heavily in one direction when it comes to the topic of money in SL. Thus, I did not participate in any aspect of that conversation.

I simply spoke out against a form of socially tolerated bigotry. I made 4 posts in one thread regarding this subject. I sincerely hope that Catherine feels better. However, a reverse witchhunt can be just as hurtful, as some of the apologists seem to be ignoring.
