From: Moopf Murray Is it minor when Linden Lab themselves have staunchly placed themselves behind a 'we do not talk about discipline, whether actioned or not' stand point? They've made a big point about that privacy many times, and would not waver on that.
Let's be honest, as part of the community "police" on the forums his actions have compromised that position. So fine, have him do something else, I have not been the biggest fan of his moderation anyway. However, to fire him is extreme. His livelihood should not be affected by this.

From: Moopf Murray I would hope that Pathfinder would be severely reprimanded by LL for clearly discussing a customer's discipline, or resultant discipline caused by that customer, with other residents of SL. This seems a pretty clear violation of their own privacy rules. Pathfinder has shown himself to be naive and, further more, has shown that he is willing to discuss discipline matters where at least one customer is concerned, with a group of other customers. That cannot be allowed to go on, especially in view of how LL have always hidden behind the privacy rules where discipline is concerned.
Personally, reading Pathfinder's words on that IRC transcript makes me think that he should be removed from his post. Either they respect their own privacy rules or they do not - there can be no middle ground there.
Sorry Pathfinder but, think what you like about Prokofy, your action stinks. I agree. I was physically disgusted. That behavior isn't tolerated anywhere in the corporate world if it is blatantly obvious like that.

Yeah you could move him away from such a customer facing position, exept that's really difficult in a place like this, isn't it. As for his livelihood being affected, whilst that's never good, you can't have employees being secret squirrel with a bunch of customers, discussing another customer in the way he has. And it does beg the question if this is an isolated incident or not, which I guess would be one of my questions to him if he worked for me.

Wait, didn't Prok/Prof admit to many within SL and here on the forums that he had been suspended? No one let the cat out of the bag. No one declassified sensitive information. But one person tried to explain the situation of that particular individual and how to handle the situation without naming names. He got his 15-minutes of fame. He got the Linden's attention. Now it's time that Mommy and Daddy Linden discipine their child appropriately. So what if the neighborhood kids do know? Maybe the kids down the block will take Mommy and Daddy Linden more seriously next time when they say... "No, this isn't right."

Instead of replying to several thread about this topic, I will adress a couple of them to this one.
1) I do not feel pathfinder was out of line. From what I read he was encouraging them to "not feed the troll" per say. What the hell is wrong with that? I find it admirable that he was willing to listen to what the majority of forum users have to say and I feel that his responses to those complaining were not in any violation of privacy to any resident. If I was constantly trolling and provoking every single forum user and my main goal was to bring down the forums, I would expect that I would be the topic of conversation in any chat channel that has to do with second life. Also, many residents have blogs and the majority of them talk about prok in some way or another.
2) As far as the recent parody of Prok, I couldn't believe that this person finally got the punishment they deserve and then some fucktard had to bring it all back. WTF WERE YOU THINKING! I hope to gah I never find out who you are, because I will be sure to never ever have anything to do with you again. This almost made me stop wanting to come to the forums, however, I'm just to voiceful of my thoughts to just walk away, but rest assured you are no better than the person you are impersonating.
3) As far as Prok using his alt Random to post after hisher suspension...I think its messed up but Robin is right, not everyone has alts to be deceptive, they have them for various uses and their hands are tied. We all know that Prok/random are they same person, but no hard core proof.

#secondlife is a channel for users of Second Life, some of which happen to work at Linden Lab. It is in no way an official outlet of communication and anything said there is not "out of the mouth of Linden" but from user to user.
Just to end one line of speculation, but not in a way that may suit some; yes that is Pathfinder. The same one who also told me that he apologized to Prokofy. I personally feel he did nothing wrong, as the core of what he said was: "Prokofy never directly violates the ToS. If Prokofy is inciting you, or just getting you so riled up that you break it yourself, just don't. Personal feelings aside, the current rules don't allow me to ban him." However, one can only assume that since then the rules have changed (doubtful, I would hope we know of it) or Prokofy directly violated them. Likely the latter, as the repeated opening of the "third-party sites are stealing your alts" discussion is a clear violation of forum guidelines.
Finally, if that channel is a feted group of tekki wiki content baronista megabuilder architect scripterati then count Prokofy among the members, as they have shown up (twice, in fact). We are so elite, in fact that we have our own group inworld, the IRC Clique (free to join).

Welcome to molehill mountain! I'm with Crystalshard and Oz. I don't see a problem here. If I make a public spectacle of myself on the forums for six solid months and then find out that a Linden is discussing my situation with other residents I wouldn't be pissed. On the contrary. I'd say "mission accomplished." Pathfinder was doing nothing more than encouraging people to behave and not fight with Prok... something that would be to Prok's benefit! Pathfinder was doing his job by urging restraint. If anything, Prok owes him a thank you.
For months people have been complaining that the forum lacks quality moderation, and now we have a moderator who is very involved and working hard to change the tone of the forums and now everyone wants to complain about it? Please. Let the guy do his job.

From: Tito Gomez The truth is that these forums have always preached first ammendment rights and freedom of speech When? That's never been true as far as I know. They are privately owned and heavily moderated.

Hi Melanie I wonder why you use the words 'perceived role as a Linden'? He is now an LL employee, regardless of what he used to be and gets paid as such. No-one is suggesting he should not talk as a human being but put yourself in Prokofy's shoes - how would you feel if such a conversation had been made (albeit differently) about you between a Linden and a group of residents, on another forum? Personally I would hate it and be mad as hell. If by committee you are referring to FIC, that means Feted Inner Core, the name given by Prokofy to the creators and long-term residents who are distainful of anyone who does not create, they are also anti clubs and Tringo. The fact that the club goers are their main customers for skins and clothes seems to have escaped their notice lol. I do believe that the Lindens can still listen and communicate with us without forgetting what or who they are. Pathfinder should probably not be fired, but I do think that perhaps he needs to think about who he is speaking with and on what subject in the future. On a slightly different subject, I would like to ask Cienna why she was so obsessed with Prokofy being a female in RL and having a male av. I do know a couple of male avs who are women and don't see a problem; after all, half the female avs are men lol. Alexa

From: Kris Ritter Depends if Judy is a bitch who everyone else would love to get rid of. I think in this case everyone in the bank would cheer and hold a celebratory party. I do customer service, at a title company, dealing with bankers and loan processors at some of the most major banks at the company. We have problem clients. We have clients that get mad and rant and rave and call our company stupid and call us inept etc. etc. Are we allowed to go into a recordable arena, (emails, website posting etc) and talk to each other OR other clients about the problem ones? NO. It's unprofessional in a business setting to speak either in a recordable arena (which in this case is the only arenas available I guess) or to other customers/clients about problem ones. I have been doing various forms of customer service for over ten years, including basic customer service involved in any business in which you have paying customers, no matter the position you hold. This has never been acceptable behavior, even talking in couched vague terms and telling those you're speaking to to keep quiet about it. The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that at the beg of the conversation there is a statement made "So we're all on the same page?", insinuating earlier conversations about Prok. Now, I'm not discounting the possibility that the chat/same page comment could refer to conversation already started in the same chat that isn't part of the log. But it still bothers me. My opinion of Linden Labs: I actually think they do a really awesome job. But just like any company, they're still learning. I don't think that LL needs to be attacked over everything (the pages and pages of posts about the log in issues, all of them angry rants and screaming at LL) that happens. I know that they work hard at SL and I respect them for making such an awesome game/opportunity for people. What I'm talking about here, is one individual crossing the line, one individual who unfortunately chose to represent LL at that time. And yes, Prok crossed the line too, a lot. So have others here. Pathfinder's crossing though was a loss of professionalism, and yeah, as a fairly new user, if I hadn't read the forums quite a bit and was in here only in a couple of threads, I'd think it supported Prok's FIC claims.

From: Ingrid Ingersoll I don't remember hearing that the Lindens had to take a vow of silence when they took the job. Are they not allowed to discuss issues about the community with the residents? Isn't this what liaison's do every single day? Pathfinder is our link to LL and now you want to lambast him for communicating with people about issues that concern players Coco? If he had done it in forums, under the mantle of moderator, still would have been slightly wrong in my opinion. However, to do it where not everyone could be a part of the discussion (yes, the IRC is accessible by all, but where was the announcement? Where was the ability for all those that either didn't know about the IRC or didn't know that Path would be in there at that time to participate), makes it appear that it's a select group of people and that there is something hush hush about it. THAT's the issue.

The disgusting thing? Not Prok's suspension. He did incite people, he did skirt the TOS violations consistently. If it was oh so appropriate for Pathfinder to discuss it, why didn't he do it here, in the forums? I am NOT calling for his job. I am saying I found it wrong that it was discussed. It's an action that I think someone should get at least verbally reprimanded for. And unfortunately, in a forum community situation, it should have some sort of statement from LL on the event. I _don't_ think Prok was the most evil thing to walk the forums, but like David, I ignored his posts that I disagreed with. Just as I ignored (not with the ignore button but just putting out of my mind) the responses to Prok that I thought crossed a line. However, I don't disagree with his suspension, I don't know enough about it to have an opinion. I do think that Prok caused problems. His suspension is not the issue to me, AT ALL. From: Lynn Lippmann Wait, didn't Prok/Prof admit to many within SL and here on the forums that he had been suspended?

From: Ingrid Ingersoll The IRC channel is not hush hush. I said that. But, hey, where was the announcement? Where was the invite to all forum members to be there for the discussion? The fact that there wasn't, the fact that it was asked to be kept quiet that there were discussions going on about what to do with Prok, that implies it wasn't MEANT to be a public event for anyone that might have an opinion as well on Prok and LL's role in the problem.

I have read every post here and WOW!!!! Some like it hot huh. You all have wonderful thoughts and ideas about what one person says and does how it has to stop or how it is noone's business. You have ideas about how a LL employee should behave away from the office. (Which pathfinder dear, should have used an alt. Geez, you should have learned that by now, lol) Anyhow, I have read stuff by prok and he/she beats by a different drum by far and to see so many people fume over what 2% or less of Second Lifers ever see or care to read is so amazing. Sure, I am not a FIC but I do pay my dues and I have lots of land, and I do create and sell things (more like give it away), but I can't see why anyone here can't seem to find their mute button or ignore. Report the bug!!!! Before my head gets linched. YOU ARE RIGHT TO HAVE YOUR OWN OPINIONS BUT WE ALL HAVE XXXHOLES TOO, LMAO! Why did this thread ever get to #136, because you all pushed it along as I have, too. But I am not mad or upset about every being RIGHT or a part of some conspiracy. I don't worry about what Prok might think or say about me or what anyone else for that matter says. I know who I am and I know that I am responsible for my own actions and not that of others. So who cares what Prok might say or do, never have I heard in a club or in a mall or a meeting that name come up or anything repeated taht Prok has said in these forums, so who cares. Pool Pathfinder, damned if you do and damned if you don't dear. Good luck with this mob of wonderful, caring people that want justice around a vitural world. *steps of soap box and lounges on the couch to what the next episode of "As The World Turns Around Second Life".

I agree with this statement. I completely understand Pathfinder's motivations and frustration behind his actions... but it reflects bad upon LL - the company he is representing, as an employee. I don't think he should be fired, but I know if I did that kind of thing at my job, I would get a hell of a stern talking to about proper behavior as a representative of my company.

We're also talking about EFNet IRC network here, which is the oldest - and subsequently most security-hole-ridden - network in existance. #Secondlife is hosted in essentially the wild wild west of cyberdom. - Newfie PS: Speaking of which....if the Lindens really need to have an IRC channel, at least they should be hosting their own server with their own control over it. EFNet is a hacker's paradise.
