Billy I have 7 Coins 5 of which were from Squadron Commanders in the 4th,7th and 17th Calvary Regiments all of which mean more to me than the ones recieved from a 1 and 3 star Generals.

So treasure the Coin and remember how proud you were to get it and never let anyone take that moment away from you no matter how hard they try.

Be well warrior and come back home safely.

You will be at the center of this black hole. You said some pretty ignorant and hurtful things. Tsk. :(

We get frustrated and snap sometimes. Functioning in a multinational environment can be hard.

Nothing I have said in this thread should be taken as hatred for any individual SLer. I apologise if anything was taken that way.

I don't think this thread is contributing anything beneficial to SL and hence I'm not going to contribute any more to it.

I can't believe the vehemence in this thread directed toward someone in the military who has been deployed to do a job few people are willing to go and do themselves.

It's pretty apparent from my past posts that I think our service men and women should have been deployed to Afghanistan and not Iraq but nevertheless, they are being deployed and they are risking their lives and limb as such.

If you live in this country and don't like how our troops are being deployed, then go to the source and write your congressman and senator and when the time comes around to vote, pick your lazy ass up off the sofa and cast your vote for the representative who comes closest to your ideology. If you can't do that, STFU. Directing your anger at the men and women who the U.S. Government employs to guard our national interests is akin to assassinating the messenger because of the message. If you don't like the message this country is sending, and you are an American citizen, then change it and bring these people home.

If you live another country and don't like U.S policy, then write to your own countries local representatives and even to ours if will make you feel any better. But when it comes to criticizing American men and women who serve in our armed forces, just because they are being deployed to Iraq - STFU. Particularly if you are living in a country who has also sent troops to Iraq or who is benefiting from the resources and money coming out of Iraq.

Billy - like Shadow says, treasure the honors bestowed on you, particularly those that have been given without public ceremony for they say more about your character than all the others. I am sorry that you are going to Iraq, it is a difficult, dangerous situation. I am proud to know that there are Americans like you willing to put their life on the line for America and I wish you a swift and safe return.

Oh, and I'm signing your petition - at the very least, I think the Lindens should back up your server.

Be well.

Thanks rose *hugs*. People like you motivate me to want to swiftly sign the paper and reenlist. People like you make me want to volunteer to go places. People like you make it so much easier to make you want to do the right thing so you dont dissapoint anyone.

You know.. when your in the military they say you will have moments you cannot relive and i think i have already had a few of those that i wouldnt trade for the world. although they may seem petty to most of you but they mean the world to me and cannot be taken away. One of them was the first time i saluted the flag wearing a uniform, i dont think i was ever prouder and more happy to do what i do than on that very day. The second was when i graduated basic training and got my coing.. signifying i had graduated and become a part of the united states military. Like i said before i take my work very seriously and am very proud of what i do no one can take that away from me! When your the only one out of over 450 people to receive a coin it makes you realise your on the right path and motivates you to excel even more. Ado calls me a bum and says i got my decorations off of a charity vendor...let me tell you something hun i have gladly sacraficed 100 times more than you and would will continue to do that because in my heart i feel a level of honor and pride.

Shadow, you know what its like when you think they are just shaking your hand and then find out they are palming a coin. not many things beat that feeling (incase you dont understand what i said.. in airforce tradition when a coin is presented it is palmed in the hand and when the presenter gives it to you he shakes your hand.. you then palm the coin.)

OoOoOoOO you're sooo proud!! Wasn't it you who weasled his way out of going to Iraq about 9 months ago? Proud servicemembers don't try to weasle their way out of going to war.

Normally I wouldn't stoop so such things but the pure mind numbing fucking stupidity of you and a selection of other posters on these boards dragged me down to it. Also, I'm English. We don't have white trash. The closest to that you would get is a so called "chav" and even they have displayed more intelligence than you.

It's no wonder there are so many friendly fire incidents and civilian casualties if they let people like you handle live weapons.

In closing, The Internet is serious buisness and I don't know why ryen jade was suspended from general discusion when he was mearly reposting what another had said about you.

In the first bolded statement, you clearly target more than just billy.
In the second bolded statement, it is ambiguous if the "you" is singular or plural. Because the preceding statement referred to a plurality of people, the reader has to assume that the same scope of interlocutor is implied.
In the third bolded statement, you refer to the war in Iraq and a plurality of friendly fire incidents. The scope of this statement thus is toward Americans in general, and not billy, who to my knowledge has not been involved in a friendly fire incident.

If you're going to backpeddle, at least have the courtesy of an apology / clarification.

But maybe it's none of my "buisness", eh?

Funny, when you try to smear someone and lie about them make sure you actually know them.. was i even playing secondlife 9 months ago? Even if i was i didnt meet you until just a few months ago..funny isnt it? And i dont try to get out of shit. I was going to be deployed before and got drop orders.. uncle sam says what to do =)

Also wasnt it you that got discharged for being overweight and not meeting physical conditioning req's?

Also, i never said i was going to iraq before or now. I dont know where im headed to.

As a matter of fact, with the exception of the original revolution, no war has ever been fought to directly protect our freedom of speech in the U.S -- ever. One could even say that the original revolutionary war was more about economic freedom than ideology. It was a peaceful meritocracy that brought us the concept of freedom of speech.

~Ulrika~

Depends on what you mean by war. I'd say the Cold War was fought partly to protect the concept of free expression, against the Soviet Union and sometimes against the U.S. goverment. Native Americans fought wars to protect free expression. So did Mormons in the 1850s, and American socialists and radical labor unions in the 1890s through the end of World War I.

War has never been easy to define, especially in the last few years. This thread turned into a war over free expression. Probably not a good idea. But even in war, there are rules. Following the rules gives you the right to fight for particular causes. Even if the other side thinks you're wrong, if you follow the rules, they have to respect you or they break the rules themselves. Some people here broke the rules.

As for freedom, I generally follow Janis Joplin's book-larnin': "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose."

Then why did you tell me and justin its because you didnt meet requirements? And they give honerable(medical) discharges..remember force shaping? Yea you burned your bridges hun dont try to take it back. Go run on a treadmill or something constructive instead of making up lies. You are a disgrace to the uniform and everything it stands for. Period.
