Billy I don't know you but I can only wish you the best if you are posted to Iraq. I do think LL could have made an arrangement with you but since they won't the only solution is to sell your sim and start afresh when you return.

Just a suggestion Billy. I just can't plough through all these posts but I understand from the little I've read that you will be away for a good while and the LL wont accomodate you. Have you thought to ask a trusted friend in SL to use your Avi to log in now and again. It can be done and as long as you arrange for your payments to LL to continue they can keep your game active indefinately. Call me in game if you want to know how.

In referance to leasing land (apartment irl)

When I deployed to Turkey back 2 years ago....I was still expected to find a way to pay the rent on my apartment, weather I was there or not!!! If I didn't pay, I would have gotten evicted..... so in short...... Keep paying your rent while your gone, or get the hell out!

Landlords don't care if your active duty and away on orders...they run a business and just want their money for place you rent.... or they can just lease it out to someone else who will pay the rent. . . . .

I don't normally post on the forums but this thread is so incredibly stupid as to warrant it.

1) Ryen is hilarious ok. If you take him seriously it's your own fault and you seriously need to learn to lighten up a little and go 'God that's terrible' in your head and MOVE ON instead of running around like chickens with your heads cut off in a blind panic over it.

2) Billy is paying LL for the right to own a virtual piece of land. They didn't ask where he was located when he first signed up for it, and they don't need to be concerned with where he is located if he goes overseas. If you want the service, you pay for the service. Every company has thier own policy. If you're lucky utilities like gas and electric may offer you a service discount. But those are considered nessecities and companies like that are very considerate toward servicemen.

SecondLife is a GAME for ENTERTAINMENT. You are entitled to NOTHING except a good time. If you pay month to month for the land then you should continue to pay month to month for the land. If LL decides to be gracious to servicemen and offer some kind of discount you should count yourself LUCKY for that and thank them a thousand times. Making an online petition is both childish and fruitless. They may read it, see a bunch of signatures, and MAYBE, MAYBE consider a discount. But if they were going to offer one wouldn't you have been better off calling them directly, speaking to a high level manager, and discussing your situation?

If SL is SO IMPORTANT to you that you need to have the land reserved then you should make payment arrangements before you're shipped out. Obviously you were able to afford it for this long. And on top of that how does LL even /KNOW/ you're really shipping out? I could say 'I am shipping out' on an online forum any time I want. Maybe you should offer them some proof too if they request it so they're not being scammed.

Frankly what I feel you should do is recall all of your owned items on the land, and try to discuss with LL a plan where you quit paying for the land and when you come 'back' from overseas that maybe they'll waive the initial setup fee to reestablish your sim or a discounted fee.
