Thankfully there is someone that cares and this allowed the problem to be solved. For sure it hasn't been solved by you or by your abused "live and let die" that dangerously sounds like "i can-t care the less about what happens to the others". |

Building something Shiryu doesn't like isn't griefing. Posting a picture of their build on the forum and accusing them of extortion IS griefing. Chip - you are right of course. I can appreciate the frustration some feel but if I own the land and the Linden's allow me the capability to put x amount of prims on it then NO ONE should tell me whether that should be a smokestack or an f'ing meadow. People have a tendency to whine and whine at the wrong targets. I think the seller is a goof on many levels but I don't deny him/her their right to do what they want with their land. And the answer is not to have Linden FORCE people to not have anything on a lot for sale. The answer is for the servers to be able to actually support the allocated prims for the sim. |

Yes... people have the right to be jerks. But don't worry, it just a matter of time before it offends -you-, and then it will be a different story altogether. Or you'll get fed up and quit. At least no one was told to tear their stuff down... instead, a legitimate user gets forced out. It's not as if they could move, afterall... someone will build another smokestack or whatever. What we'll have then is one more smokestack and one less meadow. Everyone wins that way. But you can color this stuff as you like. There is no excuse for building a smokestack next to someone's house. There is only one reason to do that, and it's not for love of smokestacks. But if I see one parcel with laggy or ugly building on it and for sale at unreasonably high price, then I can't help suspect that some scammer tries to bully people into buy him out. Did you check who put this up? Does profile look like alt account? Or have you tried talk to owner? Sanctioned??? Are you kidding me? And who is the ubergruppenfuhrer who will be responsible for sanctioning -- and I assume the subsequent executions? This is nuts! Some of you want to turn SL into a condo association. Where people with no lives sit around and decide how the rest of us are going to live. I paid damn good money for all of my land. If my idea of art is to leave a hulking particle spewing mess on my lawn and then go hang out on the other side of the world, that is MY BUSINESS. If my grass trickles over into your lawn then you should petition the Lindens, have them SANCTION me and have me shot for having a few blades of grass on your land. But if it is within the borders of the land I paid for keep your regulatory meathooks off my land. Don't you have a another post on the board about some Xanadu you are creating? People who want that can move to your regulated suburban utopia. Leave the rest of us alone. Have a great day  |

Look at this sure very creative build on a 512 for sale plot in wetheral (picture attached at the bottom of the post). A nice smoking tower with particles, rotating dump of polluting waste and tons of totally unnecessary prims scattered all over to fill the parcel to overflowing and lag the sim as much as possible: a cute new sim's waterfront zone completely ruined and lagged down to 200-300 fps (when the average for new sims is 800).
I'm beginning to believe building shouldn't be allowed in for sale plots... builds you don't like are griefing? what about your libel in these forums? is it griefing too? your reaction is like some old tv show. you're worried people you don't like will drive down property values. any chance you're role-playing? i wouldn't want to believe you're intolerant. |

heh well im in the slightly more suburban central part of the state, actually pretty much tucked away in a forrested little nook just near rt1. Its not quite so bad as people make it out to be down here... but places like rahway etc man they are hideous, i have a friend up there tucked in between the massive garbage incenorator, oil refinery, and maximum security prison

Shadow: This i call a personal attack, and it's only one of the many examples i saw iby the same person in this thread or around the forums. Prokofy's opinions are for sure debatable (even if i think they have a certain percentage of truth inn them), but at least he always makes an effort to add something to the discussion. But you know, it's easier to use this kind of attacks to belittle someone's opinion than actually finding arguments to counter them. Satire is the easiest escape route when one has nothing to say. Exactly as it's easier to blabber here about freedom and shooting personal attacks around than actually trying to solve an unconfortable situation. Anyway the situation is solved. Palomma and her neightbors are all happier, sure not thanks to the ironic attacks some uncaring individual displayed here. |
