a reflection on the differeing reception of taco and bel's respective galleries.

i'll contend that either both are in violation of the tos or neither are. in fact, arguements used earlier went beyond tos, they were regarding ownership of data and image, and about sexual exploitation, and the extension of the self. on the grounds by which taco was immoral, explotive and criminal, so would be bel.

in world, out of world, who cares? if i cannot claim wrong doing for firechicks upskirt on bel's website then how can i fault taco? though bel's gallery is outside of the secondlife.com domain, it does not place "bel muse" outside of LL jurisdiction.

for the sake of consistency i think we should all ask LL to either suspend bel muse until she takes down her gallery or to vindicate taco of wrong doing and return his right to display his virtual installation.

Unlike Bel's web site, Linden labs can take down an upskirt museum if it appears in game. The endless debate was, should they? My vote on the issue was yes, and my vote mattered because, like all of you, my money supports the servers hosting Taco's project. SO there you have it, I had a vote, I casted it, the rest was up to the Lindens.

On the other hand Bel is free to do whatever she likes on her private web site. If she engages in unethical behavior I can dislike her and call her a bad person, but I'm not paying a dime to support her site so I don't have a vote.

As for ownership of our images, I guess there are some valid points there...but *I* was never the one making those points. So I really don't feel like I have been hypocritical on any point. It seems like I typed an "LOL" at Bel's site and someone felt like they "CAUGHT ME! AH HAH! She acted casually about it...no more miss activist! The LOL that will live in infamy!".

i'm definitely not going to go back through the 40 pages to rehash who said what, but i really doubt your position was as simplistic and naive as a conservative "i don't like that kind of imagery." i wasn't aware you shared servers with taco, but regardless, i'm confident your arguement rested on taco getting permission to use peoples virtual likeness. correct me if i'm wrong. my memory just gives you more credit than boycotting beer companies because of janet jackson's nipple.

it's not a matter of catching you aimee, in fact it's not entirely about you. it's an overall inconsistency and i want to see where LL stands in regards to our freedom of expression.

personally i think LL made a very business like decision, which is fine, but it contradicted their pioneering community or rather world building rhetoric for the press. now i wonder what LL will do about Bel's violation of Firechick, or whoever else can lay claim to those pixeldoll panties.
