Hmmm .. would it be possible to add a selection where you could choose not to be teleported?

For example when you are teleported by a friend there is a yes/no question.

If you have the option disabled you would have life like you do now .. teleported by scripts withough them asking.

If you had it enabled it would ask you if you wanted teleported

Of course youd get Spammed by teleport requests when you were in someone's land .. that would be the big sign saying .. HEY GET OFF MY LAND.

Not the best idea as far as the property owner's are concerned .. but would solve the client crash issue.

Is teleport home significanly different then those short hop teleports where you merely go from one area to the next that are very close by?? (like up a level in a house for example)

if so you could leave the short jump teleports alone (and give that much security) and still require asked to teleport home.

That you and others feel a sense of impunity still is unfortunate, and I'm not likely to benefit on this issue of protecting my rights under the TOS and having them properly enforced, but others will.

And I wonder if the Lindens will ever remove your taunting and silly juvenile avatar face at the upper right-hand corner of this screen, that they have embedded on this page's artwork -- so symbolic of the ridicule and sticking out of the tongue that they'd like most players to experience, evidently. It about sums up the climate of this game, especially for new people, especially for those 70-80 percent even of posters who do not work in the computer/IT fields, or the non-artists in the 80-90 percent who post and read.

A game that continues to encourage and celebrate this kind of hazing and taunting by older players of new players will end up staying a game with a small population. It doesn't faze me in the slightest. Taunt away, and reveal yourself as the juvenile you are, unable to present solid reasoning for your tech-centric "visions" unencumbered by any notion of civilization.

And what I'm revealing actualy isn't so hidden, since many other people experience its effects all the time, it's just that you don't hear about it, or know about it, because you're in your own little world.

It's a vast elaborate suck-up network where every designer sells to every other designers and the ordinary customers get lost in the shuffle unless they join the suck-up brigade and keep all the breathless adulation going.

No, you called her on her RIGHT to have that idea, dismissing her as being too technically minded to be qualified to even discuss the topic with you. If you'd focused on the merits of the idea itself, nobody would have cared, but you didn't -- you painted this picture of Aimee as part of the vast anti-Prokofy, anti-newbie conspiracy. It IS possibly to acknowledge that someone holds a contrary opinion without it being necessary to dismiss their right to speak altogether. To just lump together everyone who disagrees with you on any topic and then dismiss them all outright on the basis that since they disagree with you, it's all part of a conspiracy is insane. Yet you manage to do it in every post, claiming ever-higher degrees of victimization while throwing out more and more personal attacks and accusations.

I didn't know what a prim is. The more of this complicated stuff I have to deal with, the worse it is for me. But deal with it I do. Of COURSE I didn't know what a prim is, of COURSE I didn't (and still don't) know how to script one. Of COURSE I didn't know how to set my settings so I could even MOVE in the game - despite searching everywhere for answers - until Barney kindly helped me.

And yet, here I am, playing SL.

Talking about knowledge I didn't arrive with is not the same as insulting my intelligence - unless you think that if a person doesn't automatically know what a prim is, or how to edit one, or how to script, etc., then he/she isn't intelligent. Surely you did not mean that.

I'm afraid this comment explains a lot of what I've observed in trying to get answers to simple questions in this game. People assume a certain knowledge base that many new players just don't have.

I think maybe the difference is this: I have always figured that the unwieldy, hard-to-understand aspects of creating in this game merely represent the science in its babyhood, and that as time goes by, it will be come more user-friendly in doing what it wants to do. My vision of SL involves massive amounts of new, regular players eventually. I think, though, that some of you figure the game is only for those inclined toward computer programming and the like, and would be just fine if it stayed that way forever.

And Prok is right. There will be more and more people like me coming onto the game - already are; look at the curve. I think the Lindens hold back the game as much as they do BECAUSE it is still evolving - evolving into a more user-friendly environment, not a less user-friendly one. But that their ultimate goal is for SL to be for all of us online game players, not just the ones who program for a living.

2. It's been a while since I've been in this thread.

Somebody up there said that it really wasn't so bad to be teleported home. Well, to me it is bad, see, because *I* wasn't the one who decided that *I* was going to go home.

I figure I'm a player just as much as anybody else, and someone else ought not to get to decide what I am going to do next just because he/she has some script that can control me.

Needless to say, it is not good for new players to discover that they can't go where they want to because some older players have access to some special secret script. That's what it seems like, and it is VERY unfriendly.

3. And as for Prok's idea, the whole thing is really incredibly simple. You just announce that using this sort of script for forcibly moving people several sims away, or to their homes, much less crashing them entirely (that happened to me once after being pushed), is illegal. (Or have they already announced that? I'm too new to know.)

Then you make a couple of examples out of a couple of people, and voila, the problem is reduced to almost nothing. There is no need to ban all elevator scripts. No need to come up with some complex mechanism for self-protection. The onus should never be on ordinary citizens to protect themselves from inappropriately aggressive behavior. All games have rules against this sort of aggressive behavior, and it's surprising to me this one doesn't, if indeed it doesn't. Does it?

4. Prok is very often right, imo. But he could announce that we live on a planet and breathe oxygen, and there would immediately be 10 pages of rabid arguments about how he can't possibly be right (no matter what stretching is required to make them), and innumerable assaults against him personally, with only a few people (Cubey Terra comes to mind, in my admittedly limited experience on these forums) actually staying rational enough to speak to the issue.

I think more of you should be more interested in the truth of the issues, and in what is best for the game, rather than in smearing and slandering one individual. It's like you wait all day at these forums for him to say something so you can engage in another self-indulgent battle, complete with pictures, poems, vile hatred, and addled logic. Things you would never do to a person to his face, or in front of other people irl. Yes, some of you are funny doing it sometimes, and make me laugh occasionally, but overall, it's not funny enough or funny often enough to justify it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it doesn't make YOU look good.

He is by far the most unpleasant, insulting, irrational, narrow minded, and vile person who has ever fouled these forums... and that is quite an accomplishment. If you can read Prok's posts and ignore the incredibly amount of ad hominem that spews out from his bottomless pit of unpleasantness and defend him simply on the bases of being his friend, it doesn't make YOU look good.
