Look, immigration officials can be dicks. I know this. My husband met one at a party who gloated over the fact he could turn anyone back for any reason at all. He even said that he had no obligation to let US citizens back into their own country. He seemed to get a kick out of that. this is funny because its so true! for the past several months i have been livin in canada and everytime i go back to the states i get hassled more by the us border people then the canadian border people...its quite scary to think i may not be able to get back into my own country someday! I used to think it would be easy as pie, as i used to work for law enforcement but they are JERKS! _____________________

I didn't read the article, but well duh, if it happened in Atlanta, it could be construed as racist. I don't think anyone anywhere ever said there wasn't racism in America. I see it everyday from both sides and I am always appalled by it. I lived in Marietta, GA, which is right outside of Atlanta for 3 months in the mid 80's and I had a white family get up and move when I sat down at a table near them in a fast food restaurant.
There is racism on all sides of the race equation. I find myself to be a rarity because I see people and not colors. A lot of it stems from insecurity. My family makes racist comments against white people and I find it so offensive. But my boyfriend's family, who are white, are some of the most open and accepting people I've ever met. I guess my point is the same as one of the other posters, there are some racists but there are more good people here, they just don't make the news. Our Government sucks balls. Like, it used to just lick them, but this particular regime is on the verge of deepthroating them. Plus this DID happen in Atlanta, GA. They still think it's odd in GA for a black person to be seen outside the city limits. _____________________
