Actually, I got the /emphasis/ thing from Finning, who I've been friends with for over a year (yay, Yahoo chat).

And no, Kevn, I /give away/ Ulrika shirts. Want two?

Don't be ridiculous. I think young guys should get their "Sexual Education" from older women who hang out at bars. ;)

I thought you were a virgin. :D

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

How do you test IQ in a bar, do you carry a multiple choice test and a #2 pencil? ;)

I just ask if they think ID should be taught in public schools.

Ah, the ultimate "atheist IQ test". Anyone who agrees with you on this one point is so smart. I get it now! :p

I find it hysterical that you're accusing me of being Finning, because I happen to use a textual conceit Finn introduced me to, and we're friends - oh, and we disagree with you.

It's obviously impossible that more than one person might use slashes AND find you utterly ridiculous (as well as personally reprehensible).

And "mod rights"? Are you insisting that a content creator give you something you can alter but still pass around under their ID?

Brilliant, Kevn.

Physical laws, time, and space that bind us wouldn't necessarily bind a creator, which would create a serious lack of understanding for us concerning God's realm. The idea of self-awareness may indeed be an illusion as far I know. I feel "like" I'm aware of self, but that is based on what I understand as self. I also know my self-awareness is incomplete, my subconscious is part of self I'm hardly aware of.

I didn't really complete my thought on that one. Self-awareness and the physical universe are interdependent, so in the instance of one not-being the other ceases to be as well. Persistence is impossible without time, and time is meaningless without perception of it.

God could not currently be all knowing and all powerful, because in the instant of perfect perception God would have perfectly duplicated all of creation, seen through the lie (time) and persistence of reality would cease.

We avoid this by having an infinity of viewpoints, each insisting that some other guy is responsible for creation and thus guaranteeing an infinite persistence of reality.

I think the point was to disqualify people who hold and espouse strong opinions about things they clearly don't understand - and anyone who thinks ID should be taught in public schools as science /clearly/ doesn't know what they're asking for - or if they do, they have no business in a personal relationship.

Bless Your Heart, Kevn.

OK, let me repost it in its entirety... Now, what was "the main point being directed at Kevn in all of this" in the rest of your post? I don't see any reference to the discussion we were having at all in your post. The point you make about freedom has nothing to do with "the main point being directed at Kevn in all of this".

What is "the main point being directed at Kevn in all of this" to which you refer?

Kevn, not even your God could help you to understand the main point.

Edit: Ah, but at least I see where you got confused on this. When I said "I stated them," I meant my minor quibbles with Finning. When I referred to "the main point," I didn't bother to state it because since it was what was being discussed the entire time beforehand, I made the apparently fatal assumption that it was blatantly obvious and didn't need to be restated. Also, my brain is beginning to hurt. :(

I didn't want to muddy the waters too much when addressing Kevn, but - yeah, we're not as free as the law says we ought to be, for reasons both obvious (Dominion Theist Politics) and for other reasons I only mediocrely comprehend (the disproportionate representation of rural areas in the Electoral College among them).

Probably (I think) you could also add the total lack of transparency with and consequent manipulation of the vote, wholesale information control, and growing corporate domination, tied to corporate personhood, as major factors. But in all honesty, I doubt I'm telling you anything you don't know.

From: someone
America is still - and this is my hot button - a secular nation, regardless of the position of the majority or the religious views of the people who hold office - or their inability to separate the lawful execution of the duties of their office from the preferences of their religious leaders. I refuse to capitulate the rule of law to the rule of their superstition, even if that's the /de facto/ case.

I don't think we were ever truly a secular nation in anything but perhaps name, but I agree at least that we ought to have been and ought to be. Anyway, I think we're on the same page, and I'm dragging us off-topic. I'll let it rest. Sorry about that.

Pat Tillman's Death: Shocking Army Quotes

"In an interview with ESPN.com, [Lt. Col. Ralph] Kauzlarich [the Army officer who directed the first official inquiry] said: "When you die, I mean, there is supposedly a better life, right? Well, if you are an atheist and you don't believe in anything, if you die, what is there to go to? Nothing. You are worm dirt. So for their son to die for nothing, and now he is no more -- that is pretty hard to get your head around that. So I don't know how an atheist thinks. I can only imagine that that would be pretty tough."

Apparently losing your son to friendly fire is a lot easier to accept if you're a christian."

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/7/19/172142/440

s'really touching. guess what... if you're a christian, you're -still- 'worm dirt' when you die. maybe there's other, better ways of 'distracting' yourself from the inevitabilities of life.

The physical universe is a tiny portion of "reality" in the sense I was referring to earlier. Of course persistence can't exist without time as it is "the property of a continuous and connected period of time". As one can see our problem is divorcing ourselves from the concept of time, seeking to understand a dimension that has yet to be imagined by men. We can try to imagine being in the past, present and future at the same (time?). We have no reference point from which to draw any conclusions. We understand time can be warped by gravity, and that time is relative, but we don't know what "no time" is.

Also we are locked in space, which is another dimension that may not inhibit beings who live outside our dimensions.

I disagree with you that perception equals reality. I believe reality equals reality, regardless of it's perception. Let me explain... If I am under the impression it's raining outside because in the movie I'm watching it's pouring rain. When I entered the theater it was raining, and thunder can still be heard. The reality everyone outside is living is no rain. My perception is rain is falling outside, but it's not reality, no matter how real it is to me.

Also, I don't believe that perfect perception would duplicate everything, I see no physical law that would cause it to happen. Can you explain why you think a perfect God would cause it, and why an imperfect God wouldn't? It is an interesting concept anyhow.

I know you won't respond Kevn, but, again, this is for the rest of us.

First Kevn posts this. Now who else thinks he is, in his own passive-agressive manner, calling Finning an alt? And who thinks he means Ulrika? I know I do.

From: Kevn Klein
Since February you have posted 65 posts to the forum. Out of those 65 posts all but 6 were to this thread. Those six posts are in "Banned for 7 days" by (you know who) and "I live in a Country full of twits" which was posted by an atheist to show America’s distrust of atheism. You have suggested you have followed my opinions in other threads, does this mean it took you this thread to finally step-up and go after "my ilk"?

You type in German ............

Really, try to be a bit more discreet ;)

Then he distances himself from his statement:

From: Kevn Klein
Who is it that we see always using /these bars/ to emphasize a word or phrase?? ;)

This is /so/ fun..

And you sell Ulrika shirts? Amazing :)

btw, I never said Finning is Ulrika

He didn't actually say it. Odd thing is, though, we all knew what he meant. But Kevn is never wrong. He leaves just enough wiggle room to get out of his own rhetorical holes.

I don't mean to be greedy, but I would love both an Ulrika and a Kevn shirt. In return I will give you a rare (only 2 currently exist) dragonfly shirt (my own pencil drawing).
