Dictionary.com = crap. Can you get the same definition from other sources?
Here's the source that actually defines, for all intents and purposes, the substance of the English Language, Merriam-Webster:

Main Entry: 1source
Pronunciation: 'sors
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English sours, from Anglo-French surse spring, source, from past participle of surdre to rise, spring forth, from Latin surgere -- more at SURGE
***************
1 a : a generative force : CAUSE b (1) : a point of origin or procurement : BEGINNING (2) : one that initiates : AUTHOR; also : PROTOTYPE, MODEL (3) : one that supplies information
***************
<A singular person, in other words.>

2 a : the point of origin of a stream of water : FOUNTAINHEAD b archaic : SPRING, FOUNT

***********************************************************************
3 : a firsthand document or primary reference work
***********************************************************************
<A single document or reference compilation>

4 : an electrode in a field-effect transistor that supplies the charge carriers for current flow -- compare DRAIN, GATE
synonym see ORIGIN
- source·less /-l&s/ adjective

Note, neither of these definitions befit the Library of Congress as entity or literace.

Really, Dictionary.com = crap? Hmm, let's see....

The usage to which you are referring is specified by the example. It is referring to official statements made by an organization, not to literary reference. Literary reference is what is required here to support an opinion with any weight and proper citation. AN official statement, though it may be supported by empirical evidence, is not empirical evidence itself. It is still a matter of the subjective opinion of the author and those who support that opinion within said organization.

Edit: To cite Definition 5 suggests you're saying the building can speak.

..... saying the building can speak.

Again, you are quite mistaken. A facility need not be a building.

I have clearly answered your post, where you insist my reference was insufficient, and that I should provide another dictionary that provides the definition I provided earlier. I have done so yet you are still not satisfied. I realize you just want to be contrary, even after you have been provided the information you said would be required to prove you're mistaken. So with that I'll bid you farewell, have a wonderful life. :)

Nope, sorry, you don't get away that easy. In fact, this is the 4th time you've bid me farewell.

Your reference was insufficient. It is an opinion from an organization. I was manipulating you into exemplifying this, and you walked into it famously. Now the noose is tightened, your source is useless, and you're trying to cut free by being "high and mighty".

Your Bible says you're right, and a Christianocracy says you're right. I asked God directly, and he says you're a douchebag.

From: someone
Drawing on a wide range of studies to cross-match faith – measured by belief in God and acceptance of evolution – with homicide and sexual behavior, Paul found that secular societies have lower rates of violence and teenage pregnancy than societies where many people profess belief in God.

From: someone
Top of the class, in both atheism and good behavior, come the Japanese. Over eighty percent accept evolution and fewer than ten percent are certain that God exists. Despite its size – over a hundred million people – Japan is one of the least crime-prone countries in the world. It also has the lowest rates of teenage pregnancy of any developed nation.

From: someone
At the other end of the scale comes America. Over 50 percent of Americans believe in God, and only 40 percent accept some form of evolution (many believe it had a helping hand from the Deity). The U.S. has the highest rate of teenage pregnancy and homicide rates are at least five times greater than in Europe and ten times higher than in Japan.

Come on, Cherub - you know how those online hookups are. They tell you: VGL, 28, hung professional. What you really get is Chris Farley unemployed and living in his mom's basement.

The OP pointed out that it happens on nearly every thread here involving religion. At some point, someone starts making nasty jokes at Christians' expense.

On the whole, though, what I see isn't a coordinated attack on Christianity by atheists, but rather a cancer that is growing from within the church. People like Pat Robertson are the church's own worst enemy.

As was already pointed out, the title of this thread should be "Why isn't the Church cleaning its own house?"

The truth is, it is. But as quickly as you get rid of one jerk, another one steps in somewhere else. Unfortunately, the very system that has evolved to make churches work is very vulnerable to bad apples come in, pretending they're good little churchgoers, and then hurting people badly. Those people walk away, hating the church and everyone in it.

I see this all the time, and what really hurts is that there's nothing I can do about it. I can only watch and try to help when I can.

The answer is pretty simple. Just get rid of the meme that says believers are "better," and more holy and entitled, than unbelievers. Until you do, the meme will attract evildoers looking for cover the way honey attracts flies. To make this work, though, you have to treat unbelievers like respectable equals in all ways.

Something tells me that the churches capable of doing this, have already done it.

Still, I am grateful you see the problem and avoid victim-blaming, and I do wish there were more like you.

You are mistaken. It is the bears' ideology that is simpler than the Buddhists'. Until you den-sleeping, honey-eating, fish-in-the-mouth-catching fur balls learn to open your minds to Buddhism, talking to you is just a waste of time.
