The gentle whirr of the ceiling fan.
The jungle of the dog's tags as she walks across the floor.
The low hubbub of the TV in another part of the house.

At this very moment I'm listening to a chap on the tv who helps people sell their antiques, for which they generally get peanuts and spend them on paltry holidays. "This was my granny's favourite mantel clock". She probably slaved down the mine for 90 years to buy that.

As for music .. "Celtic Mystique" - an ambient music sort of CD bought at a local garden centre.
I am listening to my new favorite song over, and over, and over, ...

:D

Sarah Harmer "Don't Get your Back Up."

Right now I'm listening to some 'tard laughing in a cube half way across the office. White noise. The hum of the overhead flourescent lights and a conference call my boss is having that not even the closed door will muffle. *sigh*

Combustible Edison is just the epitome of Swanky :D I play Millionaire's Holiday for people who insist they hate lounge tunes, and they can't help but grin and wiggle a bit. Great band.

Yus! Except I've only heard of two of your five listed bands (Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and Apples in Stereo) so I feel a bit the dunce, musically.

Some of the cube farm antics I'm being subjected to was the mother calling her kids for the 10th time today as she can't decide which language she wants to talk to them in, the blowhard that is explaining something to his coworker that already understands the concept but the blowhard completely disregards that fact and continues feeling that he is gracing this person with his knowledge and it must be completed in its entirety and the guy about to be retired that is making plans to take his dog away for the weekend.

Though I am sick (physically, we'll leave the mental part for another day), my ears aren't stopped up enough to spare me this torture. So now I'm listening to the first batch of music I could find:

Lita Ford - Hungry
White Zombie - Supersexy Swingin' Sounds

A loud air conditioner, and typing. Oh, and a loud computer system too. It's quite nice.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Busytoby
The Architecture in Helsinki
Mogwai
Operacycle
Essex Green

And now? Obsession, by See-saw.

I like Japanese music. Shut up.

Just can't help myself. :)

In my car:

The Shins "Chutes Too Narrow"

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs (they have a great song called "El Matador" and a funky ska/Tejano version of "Stawberry Fields"--what's not to love?)

Soca Slam #4 (Soca is from Trinidad. It is a combination of Carribean and South American musics mixed with a healthy dose of hip-hop)

The Beautiful South "Blue is the Colour" (they have a song called "Don't Marry Her, F*** Me." Bitter, yep. Hateful, maybe. Beautiful, absolutely)

The Pixies "Doolittle" (I like to think of it a my own personal primal scream therapy--I just keep my windows rolled up. :))
