How good of you to summarize your own response ahead of time for us all. This is like a corporate memo, or a college essay!

Thanks for saving me from having to actually figure out if you understood my post. :D

From: Toni Bentham
You're right. Like if Iraqi civilians die, most conservative Bible-thumpers have no problem. But if one American fetus is at risk, you organize a protest. How ignorant and hypocritical.

People die in war. It's tragic. But it happens in war.

From: Toni Bentham
My post had nothing to do with accidental vs. purposeful death, really. Yet again you managed to take a tertiary issue and make it a main one. Congratulations

The majority of your post was berating Kevn for not being against anything and everything that can theorieticly lead to death, so, sorry, I'd have to say it would be your main point.

From: Toni Bentham
None of that clarifies why one can be against abortion because it causes death and not the death penalty or all wars. By your definition, people who do are hypocrits.

Maybe you should have actually talked more about that and less about, oh, marriage.

And no, not by my definition. Remember, I, unlike you, it would seem, accept that not all deaths are equal. I count death as a sometimes-needed evil. An evil, make no mistake, but sometimes one that can't be avoided.

As for the death penalty, that's another debate - although I would, in fact, agree -to a point-. Anyone who disagrees with /all/ abortion, always, in all circumstances, and supports the death penalty is being a moron. However, one can have varying levels of opinion on both - I'm against abortions in certain circumstances, and I'm against the death penalty in certain circumstances.

From: Toni Bentham
Anyone who opposes abortion because it causes deaths, but not guns, the death penalty, and all wars, is in my book a hypocrit.

Your book is full of plot holes and the ending is via deus ex machina.

Ahh, because I disagree with the Great Billybob I'm what, mentally unbalanced? Talk about getting a grip on yourself.

You really think war or the death penalty never killed an innocent person? Are you a moron?

never said you were unstable thats your own admission.

Now I am willing to bet that there are more abortions per month here in the US than civilians die in Iraq. Now the death penalty goes through several lengthy proceedures before the sentence is carried out. I'm sure it doesn't always work, but most of the time it does. Now want to continue to rant or do you want to consider what you are saying?

I did understand it! You summarized it for me!

Yes, and because one knows that every war causes death, if you're against abortion because it causes death, you most therefore be against war because it causes death. I realize this logical progression is difficult to get a grip on, but don't worry, I'll keep trying :)

Well, then you'd be wrong. Again. Watch me be hit by a galloping sense of shock.

So what determines their leval of equality? Race? Religion? Nationality? Income?

Ahh, because I disagree with you I'm not thinking clearly. Got it.

That's what you get for doing a book report from the blurb on the dust jacket. :D

I am against war, in theory. I'd love it if there never had to be a war ever again. However, that's a pipe dream.

Maybe you should focus on your point then, rather than the things that aren't related to your point that you object to me commenting on after you spend half the post building them up.

None of the above, because deaths have none of the above. Try again to find the subject of the sentance.

Naw, because you lump things together too easily and ignore distinctions :) I mostly threw that one in there because you added "guns" to the list.

You're wrong. Every death is equal. The MOTIVATION behind every death is not equal. The REASON for every death is not equal. But every death is equal.

OK, I'll take guns out, no big. I'll add in "Really Scary Looking Dogs" :)

Different way of looking at the same thing.

I had four wisdom teeth "aborted" once.

What evidence?

And if the last bit was a shot at me, don't bother - you don't know my position on the arguement.

Last time I checked, when your body died it wasn't getting back up.

Unless there's zombies. Are there zombies?

More or less. In more formal situations, I tend to play the role of the so-called "devil's advocate". Or, in this case, Kevn's Advocate. I seem to be about the only person on this forum who, while I tend to disagree with him in just about every way, at least sees the point's he's trying to raise and gets sick of seeing people flame him and yet completely ignore his points.

Sorry you find honest discussion as opposed to band-wagon-riding flamefests "annoying".
