11. The Lindens have gone batshit insane and are trying to destroy Second Life before the residents can do it for them?

No, Kris, you're being ARed for continuing to necropost for no reason other than you're bored.

Who does it hurt when someone necroposts? I really am curious. It might be annoying, but srsly, does it do any harm?

Its common frickin sense that if a thread appears at the top of the new posts list, with 230948203948 views and 20349203 replies that its not a bloody new thread.

Pointless necromancing can be not only irritating but misleading. In this case I think it depends on whether the issues in this thread are still relevant. I think the fact that the Lindens were reading this thread makes it fairly valuable, but maybe they read all of them, who knows.

My main reason for wanting to abandon SL at this point is the fact that I'm locked out of my account until its midday in California because someone under 18 logged onto SL from my IP... Does this happen to a lot of people? I mean, if parents let their kids play, don't the parents get restricted to kiddy time? And not just kiddy time, when they can play, they're restricted to the teen grid, as I am. I'm thinking that their procedures need to be reviewed. As much as I don't want teens on the main grid, this is a terrible terrible pain in the ass.
Obviously there are other reasons for me wanting to abandon it, I've had a few bugs, crashes, anticlimaxes, and empty live help windows, etc...

I'm curious about how the system's performance and reliability is compared to what it was at the beginning of this year...

IN YOUR OPINION. Or then again you could have simply missed the point entirely.

Oh, btw, you'll never really know whether all these AR's for imaginary crimes actually achieved anything, because I'm away for the next three or four days. Was I suspended or just not posting? Hmm.

Shouting is really rude!

Just to help things along a bit.

Could we return to the topic please? ^^'

I'm curious to know if Mac Beach or anyone is still around and if so, whether they feel things have improved since they last posted here.

Khamon just made a whole new thread about it.

Enjoy!

i tend to disagree. i remain stunned by the fact that ll takes input from it's player base through a web-based forum rather than some sort of inworld system. auctions are conducted using the web as well. what is this collaborative, scriptable 3d software for if the company doesn't use it themselves?

money is exchanged using 2d websites and, now, everybody is starting to shop on the web rather than browsing through inworld stores. what will this collaborative, scriptable 3d software be good for if the residents migrate away from it and don't actually use it anymore?

This is one of the most profoundly significant posts I have yet seen. How can SL be the metaverse if LL isn't using it themselves. I have always been particulary distrubed by the web-sales of items. Its one reason I don't use SLEX or SLBOT. I do my shopping at virtual brick and mortar stores. If SL is supposed to be the next internet, isn't it sad we have to use the old internet to make it easier?

As far as the forums go, I think they still make sense given that not everyone can access SL all the time. But really there could be some better integration with in world too.

I agree SL is far from perfect, and realy at this point it is just sort of filling the gap untill i see what NWN2 is like or what DnD online is like.

Yep, I'm still here. I had to go back and read what I wrote the last time to refresh my memory. WOW, I can be long winded can't I? But even without my post this thread covers a lot of territory. I don't see any reason to amend anything I said the first time. I still don't trust ATI, but I notice the XBox 360 uses them (and 14 percent of them randomly lock up with what looks like video corruption, hmmmmm) so I guess they will be around a while. (I also noticed that the ATI chip is the single most expensive component of he new XBox, twice as much as the processor itself I think. Something seems upside-down about this.)

I'll update my remarks based on whatever shows up on the new thread though.

Hmm... so looks like I'm not the only person who doesn't like necroposting.
