There has been some necroposting, and someone else made a thread about not necroposting -- much to the alienation of the new folks inadvertantly necroposting, I am certain.

And that's where we are now with necroposting.

I just think people get a strange kick out of using the word. Kinda like Beavis and Butt-head.

At first I read " Necropotism " and wondered what it was about.

Thinking about this, I don't like the word Necro, it makes me feel like a pervert.

I'm rather fond of this subject :)

Ya know what I think is pretty darn funny? I necroposted this thread:

"Those who use SL for income deserve what they get"-Do you share this attitude?

because I've noticed the same sort of opinions levelled in recent threads. And I thought 'hey, instead of derailing another thread about something else with these tangential ideas, let's reintroduce this one that's like 100 plus posts all about this topic!'... and since I did, a number of respondents have put in their earnest comments to the original topic - including Hiro and Cienna today - both of whom have loudly condemned necroposting as trolling.

Btw, E, you also previously condemned people like me for it, when Cienna last complained (/108/62/52538/1.html#post553985 ) (as opposed to the thread she just started on the same subject), but I really don't mind what you or anyone else thinks, because I stand by what I said above. There is value in not repeatedly discussing the same shit over and again when it's already been addressed, and where it has already been addressed.. what's wrong with reviving and adding to it instead of starting yet another thread (like this one!) where half the respondents will post about it all having been said before?!

Oh yeah. And it's also funny when you're able to bump something that proves someone is being a complete hypocrite in a recent thread compared to something they said in the past. But unfortunately most people miss it. I dunno why I bother! tsk.

I'd also like to point out that the Lindens have explicitly said that it's fine to bump old threads as long as you stick within the usual rules. I'm sure they'll change that given the way everyone is starting new threads to whine about it though.

Completely agree. Keep it up. :D

I can't grasp why this even bothers people.

Necroposting... enjoy in moderation.

Bringing up an old thread every now and then is interesting, especially when I go back and read what I wrote and completely disagree with myself.

But like all things, too much of it chafes.

In a couple of years, I'm going to come back and bump, er excuse me, necropost to this thread, and I bet you a piece of pecan pie that it will cause such a schism in the space-time continuum that a singularity will occur. Or maybe we'll just do the Time Warp again.

It's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane.

Enabran! You were supposed to wait a year or two. It would be funnier.

I know this is a joke thread, but I would like to say a big F-you to the person that necroposted last night.

One person dug up about 20 or 30 threads, (some of them waaay old), just to add a couple of lines, in some cases a couple of *words* of "interesting" comment. At one point at least a third of the front page was their posts.

I mean do you really think your random brief reflections about every thread in the forum are that important? (And an argument is more than just the automatic gainsaying of every comment made!)

Think before you hit that send button kiddo! You know who you are!

And I'd like to say a big fuck you to anyone who ever started an 'Impeach Bush Guy' thread, and thanks to whoever-it-was that necroposted yesterday (haven't got round to looking yet) because you saved me a job today. It was my intention to crap up the forums with necroposts today because I'm sick of listening to people whine about signs, since we are blessed with such a fucking hypocritical bunch of assholes I figured I'd join in the fun; "They're crapping up my view with signs. So we'll crap up the forums whining about it. And fuck anyone who isn't interested. They'll fucking HAVE to be interested!".

Funny, when I made a couple threads to make a point about the classifieds forum action, they jumped all over me. When I necroposted 3 (relevant) threads in one day, they jumped all over me.

Many of them the same assholes who are spamming up the forums now whining about their precious fucking view and how building on your own land is griefing.

So anyone complaining about necroposting in the future - fuck you in advance. And a big fuck you to most of the posters in these forums anyway. You're all pathetic.

Now. Where's that first coffee of the day?

I'd like to agree to nearly everything thats been said in this thread today..

And add that Necroposting is all good fun!

And point out that (as Kris said in another thread somewhere) Necroposting isn't necroposting if you post in a thread thats relevant, especially to show people where previous similar discussion have ended up..

What I want to know is where did the word "necroposting" orginate? I looked it up on good ole dictionary.com and of course necroposting isn't a word but necro is and it means this...
necro- or necr-
pref.
Dead body; corpse: necrophilia.
Death: necrobiosis.

Anyone know?

MJ
