Bringing back posts from the dead, and/or posting to dead threads. Not sure where it originated, but the word is fitting. The gigglers probably don't realize that without the right suffix, it's not anything to titter over. Unless they think something being dead is just a laugh riot.

We definitely aren't the only forum that deals with it, or calls it that.

What I want to know is where did the word "necroposting" orginate? I looked it up on good ole dictionary.com and of course necroposting isn't a word but necro is and it means this...
necro- or necr-
pref.
Dead body; corpse: necrophilia.
Death: necrobiosis.

Anyone know?

MJ

Makes sense, but then not everyone is using the term "necroposting" for that reason, its being used by some to describe, linking to old threads and i've even seen it used to describe multiple threads on the same topic.

MJ

Edit: okay just saw the link you provided Jonquille and it looks like the general meaning for the term is bumping old threads. That's pretty much what I wanted to be clear on. I hate using a term that I don't know anything about lol.

Don't marginalize Cocoa's attempt to marginalize Kris's opinion.
How rude.

Another message board unspoken rule: the first time the poster/topic/thread/board ever comes into reflection with the Nazi party or Hitler himself the entire thread becomes moot instantly.

It's actually far from unspoken:

Haha Enabran, you won't believe this of course, but life is short, so I want to tell you, I still get a kick out of this thread title. A very nice lampooning.

"I NEED NECRO FOR MY BUNGHOLE" sounds wrong. ;)

I often think there are things which aren't dead, but merely in hibernation. Kind of like those animals that sleep in caves in the winter after having loaded up on some very full meals.

I like to check on them to make sure they're okeydoke. And it doesn't seem that long, really. My perception of time works that way.

This is too true and someone has to poke us in the arse and remind us of what has gone before. We so easily forget.

Now. Where's that first coffee of the day?

Mine would be Mtn Dew, and it just about ended up all over my monitor after reading that post. I loved that!
