Well, I've thought on this all day, as you know. And calmed down a bit.

I still think there is a possibility that Robin did not remove my post on her blog herself. Maybe she did. Maybe I was too outraged for even her, though I have never known her to remove things like this before. Ever. She is very-thick skinned. And her way of putting people in their place is a lot more subtle.

I was, myself, "pwnd" by Robin just the other day. I was talking in a thread here about how cleverly LL was suppressing controversies by burying them in the blog, without even a thing at the top where you could find important issues.

Robin then pops in to note wryly that I brought up a very good point - YIKES! I wasn't even thinking Robin was reading it! Pwn'd indeed! How embarrasking! - and that they would consider putting such a box at the top of the blog.

THAT is more Robin's style. Nonetheless, she may have removed my post, for various and sundry reasons. I don't believe, though, that she doesn't WANT to hear from me - and from others - and it will take her telling me that personally for me to believe it.

I have concluded some things, though.

Pathfinder's running a very nice little conversation there - for those he lets talk.

He removed Prok's post and then started talking about what was in it as if they had been his own thoughts.

Then, when Aaron Levy brought up basically the same thing, he treated him like a human being, while treating Prok and others like dogs.

He deleted two of my posts, and one from Cristiano, questioning this.

I therefore conclude that on Pathfinder's blog, he will delete your post if he doesn't personally like you. And if someone questions that, he will delete that, too.

I think the situation on Robin's blog may be perhaps a bit more complex than it appears. Regardless, I don't believe her to be a repressive individual whether it was she who removed it or not.

But the situation on Pathfinder's is all too clear.

I do NOT believe - I REFUSE to believe - that the Lindens don't want to hear customer feedback. I do think their way of doing it is not going to work, but I don't think they really (as a group) want to suppress everyone. They have always been friendlier and more open than any game devs I've ever encountered.

And I certainly don't believe Robin views me - or anyone, really - as the enemy, as Juro has suggested.

Now, Enabran, as for you, and your previous post in this thread:

Enabran has no idea how old I am (and I'm not going to tell him). My nest is not yet empty. I have two daughters; one 16 and still at home, and one 19 and in college. The day that my nest empties out (coming soon) will not cause any lack of purpose for me in my life, my family, my work, or my play. Believe me, I've put in my mommy service.

I think Enabran suffers under the same delusion some other young people do, that older people shouldn’t care about these things or enjoy playing online games. I think that's why he is constantly bringing up my age, and suggesting that I am suffering from an empty nest syndrome.

Blogs suck. If LL thinks blogs will be a perfect replacement for the forums, they suck too. We the residents have voiced our opinions about the forum closer on how bad/good it might be, and have been totally ignored. I wan't the forums to stay alive, but Linden Lab has shown NO interest or care in what the residents want in this behalf. Their minds are set. So here we have it folks, another microsoft/SOE wanabee...

And Furthermore, how they want us to comment to blogs, so they can dictate our freedom of speech (deleting things they don't like, and keeping what makes them look good in public) just makes my opinion about them even more visable... Their really digging themselves a grave here i tell ya.

People of any age should do what they want.

However, I would hope that by the time I reach the age of 50 and all my kids are moving out, I have better things to do than agonize hysterically to an audience half my age about unimportant policies in a corporate-managed online space.

I'm hoping I have bigger fish to fry, is all. A life of significance. Battles that matter -- as opposed to ones that don't.

Hope that clarifies things, my good friend Cocoanut Koala.

Thank you, darling Enabran.

I, too, hope you live to be fifty, and that you have kids that are moving out, and at that time you enjoy involving yourself in whatever passions you choose.

I would also hope that you will choose those passions for yourself, and choose which battles you want to fight, as they come up, and I hope they are all very big fish for you. I hope you have as much success in your life - on all fronts - as I have, and that your life has been - to that point - as significant as mine has been to me and those around me.

I would hope you would bring as much passion to a game you care about - if indeed, you are playing a game when you are fifty - as anything else you do, whether it is your job or racketball or whatever your interests may be.

I also hope that you don't have some young person biting you on the ankles the whole time, telling you that what you care about isn't important, because it's very annoying. And if you do, I hope that young person realizes that the entire "audience" isn't actually his age.

I agree, Yiffy, but as the day goes on, I'm focusing it down more to Pathfinder, sorry to say.

If this is a policy they are going to have, though - for each blogster to delete whatever he likes at whim- then I think they should state that up front, and at the VERY TOP OF THE BLOG.

Let people know that not only can any blogster delete anyone he wants for any and for no reason (and delete anyone who questions it), but that it WILL happen, and not just in extreme circumstances, and that this is the policy of the blogs.

Personally, I'm still hoping this isn't really their policy. And I think I will leave it at that, for the most part.

I've never heard of the guy before or come across any of his work. Hence my genuine question of what does he do.

Not knowing about someone I have no particular need to know anything about is hardly a crime.

This weeks Episode of Drama-High:

CC: Ohmigod, my friends screed was taken down from the school bulletin board!!

Friend1: Oh, so - put it somewhere else? People will still read it, right?

CC: No, you don't understand!! The bulletin board is the ONLY place ANYONE reads ANYTHING!!

Friend2: Umm...okay, hey - I have to go to the library....see you...

CC: Don't LEEEEEEEEEEEEEAVE!!! (wails, and stomps down the stairwell to the parking lot)

Burnout1: Hey, why so stressed? Here, have some..

CC: NO! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOU PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND MEEEEEE!! (crying, she exits to the parking lot.)

Burnout1: Uh, ok....more for me.

We conclude next episode - "THE UNFAIR YEARBOOK SIGNING" in yet another thread...stay tuned..
I seem to remember that you used to be a nice person. Did you sell your account to someone else or is this your true character?

I think the censorship is a bad thing and I dont see how anyone can support it.

With the rise of all the third party websites, the only time I'll really worry is if they threaten them with lawsuits for defamation. You've just got to accept and move on, Coco, that LL is doing away with hosting criticisms of themsleves on their own servers.
I think its because Linden Labs is looking around for a buyer to buy second life so they want to make sure the membership numbers are bloated and the complaints cant be found!

They serve no useful purpose, are of no practical community-building use, and are entirely inappropriate outlets for discussion.

Why are so many people having difficulty understanding that I am not familiar with a name that other have heard of?

My name is pretty well known on the forums, yet daily I come across people who don't know me and - shock horror - treat me like any other resident.

I'm quite sure that there are political names in the US that are well known but to me in the UK I've never heard of, and vice versa. Anyone in the US tell me what Paddy Ashdown was, for example?

Sad really that people decide to attack me for not knowing something I have no need to have known in the first place. When I see a nice build, I bookmark it - I don't make a note of the builder's name so I can tell them how wonderful it is. After all, we all have the same building tools available, the only difference is how we apply them.

I think it was more because of HOW you decided to announce you didn't know the guy, rather then you not knowing him.

*sigh* Just goes to show that people will use any excuse to attack me. When people pick apart a few words - which were not insulting in any way - then that shows the desperation they have.

I'm not sure I should be telling you this, but theres a secret group that was formed just to attack you on the forums. Every day they plot how they can give that Lewis guy an unpleasent time!

Actually he was born in India, but spent a lot of time in Ireland, which is where the nickname came from.

I'll make it easy for you. Paddy Ashdown - Wikipedia

I worked closely with him on a local political level some years back, and he did know me by name, although I expect after 10-15 years he's forgotten me.

I suspect that you will be in danger of having an empty, lonely life.

Now is the time to do something to prevent that from happening.
