Also, you spelled "Merlin" incorrectly at registration.

(double pwned)

Dimwit -- it's the _WELSH_ spelling -- the original word meant "pony", and the man was the pagan priest of the ancient Keltic sea/horse god Manannan/Manawyddan. There was ANOTHER man who lived in the LATE 6th century, Myrddin Caledonius/Wyllt, who was a different man altogether (though he may have been the son/grandson of the first Merlyn).

Geoffrey of Monmouth spelled it wrong -- and don't tell me he was Welsh, because if he spoke/wrote Welsh at all himself, he wouldn't have left his work, the HISTORY, (which he wrote IN LATIN) to be translated into Welsh by Caradoc of Llancarfan.

Isn't "spell check" two words, not one?

A SPELLCHECKER is a module on a computer, ergo the verb is TO SPELLCHECK.

Let me quote your own sig.

So you're using "it's a game" as an excuse for blatant illiteracy?

ROFLMAO! How lame....

It's a game in which people set up businesses and expect people to deal with them AS IF they are real professionals. THEREFORE, YOU'D THINK A PROFESSIONAL WOULD BE BRIGHT ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SPELL A WORD THEY LEARNED IN 5th GRADE.

You want someone to deal with you as a "professional" -- ACT LIKE ONE.

Spell-check requires a hyphen. Please consult dictionary.com, or a dictionary of your choice. Spellchecking is not a word. Perhaps, you too, have flunked 5th grade.

P.S. I saw your prefabs in world. They are not professional. Please refrain from advertising them in the forums and selling them in world.

I have grammar- and spelling-nazi tendencies, but I keep them to myself... mostly because I'm quite capable of misspelling the odd word, and grammar sometimes escapes me, usually in the form of really egregious run-on sentences like this one. :D

Seriously, though... yeah, SL is multinational, and there are loads of people with some form of dyslexia or other disability making spelling difficult for them. So as long as I can decipher what they're saying, it's not going to bother me.

ON THE OTHER HAND, I ASSOCIATE ALL-CAPS WITH 'YELLING'. WHEN I SEE AN AD IN ALL-CAPS, I IMAGINE THE AUTHOR AS A SMALL CHILD CRAWLING INTO MY LAP, GRABBING MY COLLAR, AND SHAKING ME WHILE SCREAMING 'BUY ME! BUY ME! BUY ME!'.

In what English class did you learn that writing or typing in Caps was professional, or even acceptable?

This thread makes me so very glad that I made a career change and don't have to be an editor anymore. 1970s, or 1970's? (Chicago, or AP?) They used as a non-gender-specific singular pronoun? How many of those hyphens really belonged in the previous sentence? I no longer have to care! WOOHOO! (YES YES ALL CAPS NO PUNCTUATION AHHHH ABANDON!!!!!)

Someone bring me some popcorn!

Argent's Law: every speeling flame is required to have like at least one grammatical error or typo.

This is more commonly known as Grznt's Law of Pedantfy: any spelling flame will itself contain a spelling error.

Actually, that should be "spelling-checker", I believe. "Spell" as a noun refers to magic, or a dysfunctional state of mind, or a short period of time.

What about people who just sell stuff to help pay tier and maybe make a little in world spending money? I run a bussiness in SL yes, but I'm far from professional and I know for a fact I have scared potential clients away with my unprofessionalismalness.

Do you honestly think it has to be pointed out that its unprofessional to misspell things? We know this, we just dont care.

"pwnz" is not a word. "ROFLMAO" isn't either.

I think more likely Ingrid was suggesting you get some perspective.
You do realise your posts come off as angry and condescending? You seem to enjoy belittling people. The irony is, most of the time, it's your comprehension that's failing, you who doesn't understand, you who isn't correct.
People generally don't like being shouted at. That's what all caps represents.
You know, language is organic, and it's primary purpose is communication. As long as we all know what each other means, it's not terribly important how we communicate.

k, that's nice, but we speak English here.

Also, professional emphasis of a word would consist of formatting it with bold or italics (for example). I'm not sure where it says in the AP style guide that you use underscore and capital letters for emphasis, but that's not how we roll in my hood.
