It's useful for posting a classified or a find description, though; a person misspelling can look up the correct spelling, whereas a person using a misspelling may not be using your misspelling.

But that's more a common-sense suggestion than some kind of moral imperative.

Something obvious yes.. but in the OP's words:

"Bad spelling in ads is simply unprofessional. If you flunked 5th-grade spelling, please get someone else to check your spelling BEFORE you post ads/notices to the forums.

Thank you."

If they want to be Mr Spelling Nazi and imply folks are stupid - I'll tell it how it is, I have bigger problems working out if all the calculations I did to get product 'x' finished are correct - wondering how many 'e's I used or if I did your or you're isn't really top of my priorities sometimes.. and if that makes me stupid then maybe the OP would be better off using thier superior intellect to make their own shit.

Maybe I should make my own thread:

Condesending Psuedointellectuals - Go Fuck Yourselves

Actually, shouldn't there be a forum law like Godwin's?

The first person that claims improper spelling or grammar will inevitably display said errors and automatically void the thread?

You may call it Rose's Law. :D

Nah, laws usually use the last name. That would make it Portocarrero's Law. Rose's Law would be co-opted by every other Rose who was too lazy to think up their own law (apologies to a RL sister in law).:D

I am so tired of seeing self appointed self important assheads that think they are better than everyone else, try to correct any and everyone because they got nothing better to do and feel compelled to weild their "better and holier than thou" condescending asshole mentality.

just to see later on that they violate Portocarrero's Law :-P

rant off

I don't know how many posts I've seen in these forums and on SLB in which vendors don't bother spellchecking common words.

SEPARATE has 2 e's, 2 a's: e's on both ends, please.

Bad spelling in ads is simply unprofessional. If you flunked 5th-grade spelling, please get someone else to check your spelling BEFORE you post ads/notices to the forums.

Thank you.

Of course it looks a lot better with a well spelled thread/AD what so ever - anywhere.. BUT we ARE still in SL - a place for having fun... in first case.. in my opinion.

Many people in the world are dyslectic... and on top of that close to al that are very creative in designing and such are bad spellers.. prob as the brain are working on design not as a copy or as a spell - checker - software...

Then also many in SL dont have English as main language.. BUT still want from our hearth to show what we al made in first case in second comes the spelling...

Please try to ustand us all.. its not that easy.. the ”I want” are the first thing we shall live with in SL.. shouldent we?

No 2 or 3 are.. spelling correctly...

Let us al have fun... and yes I ustand you.. a well written thread and a well written AD or what so ever are the best but dont let us stay away because we cant spell or write a roman/copy..

And I know my English are not the best .. sorry for that to... BUT my spirit that want to design do things are so far No1... I will not let that be killed by getting nervous about my spelling-...

Yes I have all kind of help... in software but still I cant ”see” when it goes wrong... sorry sorry.

And the ones that WANT to ustand does it...

Dont apologise for your english Petgirl..... most people who speak english as a first language think that the way to speak another language is to speak english slower and louder.
You have one up, on most english speakers, and you always manage to make yourself understood.

Spelling is overrated. They're reaching out to their core audience - a bunch of illiterates that can barely type out 'VVvvvvHOWWWLLLZZZ@!!!111eleventyonevvvVVvV'

Hey! That's not nice. I read forums, I shop, and I teach writing irl

Otherwise, what Siggy said. Who cares if they can spell if their stuff is great?

Jeez, I don't even nitpick at this stuff, and I proofread for a living.

Yes, it's annoying, but you gotta figure... most of these people do well to spell their own names correctly.

P2

P2.. can we all send our contribution to you first then you proof read them -change it to perfect level - and send them back and we publish it....

/Tina... with a wicked but nice smile in her face,,, ( I am joking)...

Unless you are the US Postal Service, whose OCR machines despise commas and so retaliate by redirecting your mail to Fargo ND.

And since we're on the subject, the USPS recently changed my perfectly acceptable two word post office name to one word, but the residents of Chevy Chase MD were not so afflicted. I think it is a conspiracy, especially for a town named after a 1970s era comedian.

(and yes, damnit, I checked the Chicago Manual of Style to verify that it should be "1970s" not "1970's" (and yes, I also checked to see if the old schoolmarm's admonition about beginning a sentence with a conjunction was true but most sources disclaim its validity and note that it has been seen in print for over a millenium (however, I'm pretty sure that entire paragraphs consisting of nested, parenthetical statements would be frowned upon by the type of people who do such frowning (of which I am not one))))

TKS A LOT!!!!! - YOU and some that IM -ed me made my day... sorry to mention its not the first time at forum people bring up the spelling thing...

BUT I agree that a well written and correct spelled AD, thread, book, magazine are a lot more nice to read..

BUT that shall never stop any try to communicate. that day we dont try that anymore the earth are dead in a week,, or some more.. right now it seams as the NON want to communicate (or my way are the only way) parts as politicans and religion.. people will win - thats our end...

/Tina - TGIF now I will make me a Drya.. NOT shaken plus two green olives.. Gordons GIN and a extremely small part of extremely dry something... then i switch to girls drinks. white wine.. FOOD? OK.. in another thread if so...
