My two looks, human and neko. I'm a kid av, oh the horror! Hopefully that doesn't offend anyone here, as it seems to bother some in-world when I'm not 7'0" tall and built like a pro wrestler.

Cute!

Everyones avies are so gorgeous!
I'm a newbie, and have been playin around with my appearance for hours n hours and just can't get the face to look realistic at all. Nothing near what everyone here looks like lol. Are there face skins you purchase to edit that look more real or do I need to sit and play around with my toon...? |

Skins are like an outer covering for your default body. They give the features a more realistic look but you still have to play around with the settings to adjust your features, e.g. mouth width, brow height etc and it's those adjustments that give you an individualistic appearance rather than looking clone like. |

You can manipulate your shape (underlying framework) into pretty much anything you want using the sliders, but if you want a nice skin (body surface), you'll really need to buy it. The default skins are uniformly unattractive, with the exception of the one made by Munchflower Zaius...it's under Library>Clothing>Nightclub Female>Sexy-Female Skin. That's what I'd suggest using until you find one you like well enough to invest in and, if you like it, you can visit Nomine to check out the rest of her work. There's also a rather long thread here with female skin suggestions when you're ready to shop: /327/73/202346/1.html I <3 Celestial Studios myself. ![]() _____________________

Liquid body armor may exist in RL, but not like this ![]() well that is an amazing Skin ... i do remember that soon after i joined i stumbled across Chip Midnight's place and he had several Techie Android Skins ... and ... i thought id add here he was really nice to me ... he gave me a couple modifiable DEMOS to play with ... suffice to say yours are beautiful too ... ******************************************************* now then ... on page 99 you said ... If you're worried about distortion on close-ups, hit <Ctrl><0> about 3-4 times until the head takes up a good portion of the screen. Distortion will be gone. To return to normal hit <Ctrl><9>. No need for an uber high resolution snapshot to eliminate distortion. so i thought id try a few self portraits one of which is below ... but it was not an easy shot to get ... the Ctrl-0 setting was not a problem 1. i first took some SL SnapShots ... however taking shots with SL SnapShaot proved a tricky process cos my head kept bobbing endlessly as i was trying to precisely set the full-screen-frame with the Camera Controls ... and then when moving the mouse to SnapShot controls, of course my head turned away but i was eventually able to get some nice shots ... 2. to try preventing my head from bobbing and turning like i had a nervous condition, i used some stationary poses, and then a posing stand, but they didnt work at all, cos the angle of my head wasnt right, and my eyes kept floating like i was in a faint. 3. so i took screen shots instead which is easier and besides, they come out better than SL SnapShots so below is a full screen uncropped selfportrait screen shot #4 and #5, which i did enhance with the enhance feature of my Paint Shop Pro ... Pic #5 -the original size of the pic is 1352 pixels wide ... -i resized the pics to fit on this page i dont remember exactly ... but i took the shots facing sunset or sunrise lighting i never take shots with daylight ... i mean in daylight everyone looks like they just had their Botox injections so thanks for the hint about using Ctrl 0 ... its pretty neet! here are a couple more hints when youre full in with Ctrl 0, tap out slowly about 5 times with Ctrl 8 and depending on the background you can get quite a show! to avoid that puffy Botox look in daylight ... always face North! . |

Thanks Arsenic
![]() The keyboard <Ctrl+0,9,8> shortcuts are great snapshot tools. As far as camera control goes, I use a HUD based camera system called CaliCam: http://www.caligari-designs.com/CaliCam/ This system saves all the snapshot angles I use for POP displays in the store. I just load the pose (always priority 4 to freeze movement), set the camera angle, alter the field of view (Ctrl+0) and take the shot to disk. Like you mentioned, the only thing I don't quite have control over is the eye movement. This can be fudged a bit by waiting for the eyes to move to the correct position. They move in sequence, and not in random, so it is possible with patience to get the eyes in the spot you like. If all else fails, several shots can be taken, and the eyes can be sampled into other snapshots if need be. |

Namssor Daguerre ... This can be fudged a bit by waiting for the eyes to move to the correct position. They move in sequence, and not in random, so it is possible with patience to get the eyes in the spot you like. thats exactly what i did ... SL's Default standing position has about 5 differ poses, changing about every 20 seconds that is enuf time to select and set the head position with Ctrl-0 full in ... also i set the cursor on the lower edge and center of SL's window to make sure the eyes were looking directly ahead then at the right moment i simply pressed Print Screen on my keyboard ... and thats one reason why, no matter what pose someone uses, screen shots are so much easier and better than SL SnapShots btw ... if there is a mini-pod version of Cali-Cam i would buy it cos it has more features than i would use tnx for the comments and info ![]() . |

I know that stuff related to this question has been posted ad nauseum everywhere, but I am lazy and so am asking again...
I know that the skin design has a lot to do with the appearance, and everything to do with makeup, but with regard to the actual shape of an avie's eyes, which holds more sway? Is it the skin design or is it the shape underneath? I ask because my avie has I guess you could call them bedroom eyes. They are slanted and always appear to be half closed, which of course is the key to my smoky, mysterious beauty! ![]() Thanks to whoever can offer some insight ![]() _____________________

Here I am post makeover with my new custom skin. I am proud to say that my designer, Christy Maroon, managed to capture every single nuance of the concept I had in my head. I got oil and tanlines, and she even gave me Lana Lang's nose from Smallville! Wooohooo!

If you can solve my technical problems you may become my Sub with my full blessing xxx P.S. Thanks to the lovely Sh Oluja for the photograph! I have Vista too. I got to the point where I was crashing every 10-15 minutes. I upgraded my graphics card drivers and it made no difference. I was going to write SL off as being Vista unfriendly when as a last resort I decided to upgrade my graphics card to a new NVidia Geforce 8600 card (My PC can't handle the 8800 cards). The difference was amazing. I was on for 6 hours yesterday and didn't crash once. |
